William Man that he Gray Bear, k Nichols goat dog with Hey It and y'all hit the like budon Share, subscribe all that good stuff the road to fifteen Caketo and you help us get their friends. If you like the show, you know, tell you friends. On today's show, we got a bunch to get to kind of almost a top us sort of day. First off, it is a mailbag Tuesday, so we'll get your questions. We got some, and then we'll get some chet questions as well. But arch Manning opting out of the New and CAA video game. JJ McCarthy versus Jade and Daniels. Following a pretty crazy take from Mike Tannenbaum, he got just more bad news for Billy Napier. Seems like the guy just cannot escape it right now. Spring football crank it up, and we got some insight into Alabama's quarterback competition. Almost abotic. Director Keith Carter had some interesting comments about a split in the NAA being inevitable. We got Bruce Feldban's top thirty five coaches if we look at the top ten, and then we got mailbags. So you know, like we said, the chef recommends three to four small plates per person. So let's dive in Scott DICE's tea. Bob about to give you what you need? Yeah, I hope. So let's address the element in the room real quick. Well, let's some people get in here. If you watch this show every day, if you're listening on podcasts, thank you rate and view please if you want to help the program. But if you're watching this on YouTube right now, the more astuted of you, if you watch yesterday's show, will say, hey, is that the same jersey that Tibob had on yesterday? You would be correct, But I'm gonna let you in a little secretm to take a step further. I had the exact same outfit I had on yesterday, even down to the small clothes, the exact same pair of underwear, the exact same pair of socks. And the reasoning is quite simple. I think we tend to wash our clothes too much a bit. And I don't know if it's an American thing, a modern thing, or what, but I feel like so often to go through all this fucking effort to get all the clothes folded and put away correctly, YadA, YadA, YadA, and then I wear it for a couple hours and what it's just done. What if it doesn't stink, What if it didn't feel dirty? What about yesterday where I had a different outfit on for the first half of my day and only put this on for snaps in the second half of my day? Okay, like Noah, I didn't feel like I got enough use out of it. And when I woke up this morning, I didn't feel like thinking about an outfit, and so I just put my clothes back on. If if I'm wrong for doing that, I don't know that. I want to be right, Dobby says, prove it. Let me smell you to be fair. I don't think I smell good right now. But I exist in an interesting line of work where I don't have to be smelled by people. Generally, it's a very solitary existence just sitting here in this office talking to all of you wonderful friends and family through this show every single day, lock Hessie, how many hours of wear just as a wash? It's not necessarily an hour perspective, though, an all day outfit will get washed, okay, or at the least maybe if they're like some nice like shorts that can also be used to work out in, or underwear that might get placed to aside to be used in a later workout. Right, But because like I guess, there were a lot of Lulu shorts and they work for both wearing them and working out. Right. But if it's a half day like guess out fake out yesterday and it doesn't smell smell is key here? Right? If it passes the sniff test, then you're allowed to wear the clothes again. Only thing I wear multiple times we're washing is hoodies and jeans, says Kenny. Yeah, yep, I mean hoodies and jeans genes. You can basically go forever. In fact, if you want a little jeans hack, throw them in the freezer. Kills the bacteria, cleans the denim, avoid some wear and tear, throw your jeans in the freezer, and you're good to go. Dobbs, says Luluse. Somebody's doing well. I have. Over the past five to six years, I have slowly a mast. I've been shrinking my closet just from a bunch of bullshit that I never wore but just always had to just a few core items, the majority of which would fall under the the Lulu banner. But it's like, just know that it has been gathered over time. Right, It's been a project for about five years and I finally got there. W what the fuck day bear freezer must be a random assortment of household items. No, I mean, it's generally a normal freezer, just that there might be pairry jeans in there. I'm trying to think of if there's anything else odd in there, I don't believe. So there's meats, you know. I think I got like a giant thing of lasagna from a local Italian grocer right now. I'm pretty sure I have a fresh farm chicken in there from somewhere. Always got sausage, you know, popsicles for the kids, nuggets for the kids, yeah, I think. And then jeans, frozen jeans. Life sounds pretty good. Yeah, and they can't be cool and when it's when it's super hot. UPSI look at that. Some fashion guys on TikTok suggest two hundred plus wears of denim before washing. Maybe, yeah, for sure, Like I guess if it didn't smell again, you could you could get away with that for sure. All right, let's go ahead and dive into the show as always, guys, thank you for being here. Love y'all, thank you so much. I'll just climb t shirts slash undershirt, underwear and socks are all one time wears. It's wrong with you, Tea. To be fair, I generally do agree with the life rule that underwears are one time wear. But I sniffed him this morning. They didn't smell bad, and I was being lazy I did flip them inside out. Does that count for anything? I don't exactly know. Well, man, they get them frozen soccole A flavor with as them the freezer. Yeah, the milk fish jeans. All right, let's get in today's show. Yes, And to be clear, if you don't know, on the lulufront, Thomas and the Chat's right, they one hundred percent replaced the pants if they rip at the seams, No questions asked. So it's it's you know, I think it's worth it, dude. Whatever, All right? Arch Manning opting out of being in the new EA Sports College Football twenty five. And this is originally reported by Anbar Richardson, who tweets quote. Multiple people have told me Texas Richard quarterback arch Manny will not opt into E Sports College Football twenty five. I'm told arch is focused on playing football on the field. This is a bit of an odd mood in my opinion, and the reason being if the state, like I feel like the actions are at odds with the stated motive in that Art says, I, you know, he wants to be focused on playing football on the field, and so the distraction of a video game, you know, we're going to avoid it. But the issue is like you just created a story where there didn't need to be one, right Like arch opting in to NCAA twenty five is nothing. It's not a story. It doesn't even Gardner headline. It's it's it's it's the stories that you've seen fuk about where it's like ten thousand players are often in and they're like even Carson Beck and blah blah blah. So opting in for Arch would be the actual no making waves move. Arch opting out becomes a story where there was none previous. So if the original intent was to avoid distractions, I think you fucked that up. I will say this for Arch, though, this does not feel like one of those plays that you'll see every now and then, Like this doesn't feel like him trying to get more money. This doesn't feel like he's not getting what he deserves for being in the game. As it's it's very you know, it's already very well known that his and I dollars go to nonprofits, right Like he is someone who has not who's not relying or even taking uh the money offered him by college football. So I don't think it's a money thing, and I think there's I think there's sincerity there and the idea of wanting to focus on the football. And if I wanted to paint my own picture for how I think you arrive at this decision, I think there's something where it's like, look, man, I haven't even done on anything on the field in real life. I don't want a bunch of highlights of me coming out like the virtual whatever, blah blah. But again, I think it's this kind of a lame move by Arch. Plenty of Texas fans would want M to be on the team, want to get to play with them, you do, Dinasamo, whatever the case may be, So I and and and and ultimately I do think it's at odds with his stated goal, which is just focus on the football. This actively takes the football or the football away out of the focus one article I did or one little tidbit I did want to name here or point out here. In terms of people opting in and whatnot, true freshmen will be in the upcoming game if they opt in by April. So if you are someone who is very excited about a five star signee, four stars signee, maybe you think they're gonna be the future. You may have an opportunity to play with him this summer. Dobby says, Arch manny donating charity. Well, Bronnie James and the Standards kids makes millions for themselves. I like ars. Give me more arch archworkness. I can't speak on Bronnie or Sanders. I don't, I don't, I don't. I don't know their situation and what they're doing. But you know, I'm I ain't gonna speak on another man's money too much. You know, if Arch wanted to keep this money for himself, I would have no issue with that either. I just don't. I'm just saying. I'm just saying I don't think that money is a motivating factor in this. I says, bru Arch is crazy, literally have to do anything. Besides I'm in it's not take away football at all. Yeah, I agree, And let us some funny jokes about like does he know that he's not actually like in the game, which made me think about Zoolander. Right are they supposed to attend? This school is just a school for apps. But whatever it's it's it's just kind of lame, I think, at the end of the day, kind of a dork move, kind of kind of a lame u Obvio says Archene want to be back up in the game either, I don't know. I don't know if I hm, maybe so passive aggressive grand standing. How much of a time comment is it getting your character made? I don't think there's any time comment. I doubt they're scanning faces right. Maybe if they strike some side deals to the biggest players. I imagine you'll just have kind of general recreations. I mean, because if we're being honest, uh, there's never been a sport less face dependent than football. If you think back on one of the best documentary he's ever made, the thirty for thirty on the uh old boy who scored the touchdown and got the penalty for taking his helmet off straight up said the reason why I did it is because like the basketball players, everybody gets to see him, they can see their face, see who theyre is like nobody know those who we are. I wanted to show everybody so Clint MOS's player empowerment. Who else's last name is worth Moore? It could be. It could be again not the stated reason there. It could be. I kind of doubt it though, but maybe maybe so George's report earlier, so it was his dad handling it, not Charch. Well that's that's a misstep then, But I could also see that the old man being like, we're not focused on these video games, even though Cooper his father's actually like the secretly coolest Manning or I mean, they're all pretty awesome, right, but Cooper is from talking to guys in the Manning camp, which goes down to Tabdeau Louisiana. H Cooper's like one of the funniest and best ever. I'm sorry, I got DISTRACTEDM I having microphone proms PG. Let me know if I am if I'm good to go here, all right? So that's your expanding is JJ McCarthy versus Jayden Daniels. It is draft season, right, and draft season means no stone gets left unturned. You know. One of the leading voices in my life is Dan Carlin, the man behind Hardcore History, my favorite podcast of all time, and he talks about all this time, all the time when it comes to history, like eventually every take void will be filled, and he uses the example of you know, eventually somebody in the far future is going to write something along the lines of like the positive impact of the third Reich, which is insane and wrong and awful, but with enough distance it eventually will be explored. Well, I find draft season kind of to be the same in that no take is left unspoken. And I mean, Mike Tinnenbaum on get up, just prove that point. As he was talking about JJ McCarthy and Jaden Daniels, and here's what he had to say. What's really interesting in me, Greenie, if he Tomo McCarthy had played for LSU, what would his stats look like? Then look a lot closer to Jaden Daniels. If Jaden Daniels does that Michigan, his stats will look a lot closer to JJ McCarthy. And that's true. This debate is so much fun, so interesting. But he can do everything like that workout shows he can make every throw with great anticipation, a really good armstrang. So Tannebaum basically saying after McCarthy's combined workout that he thinks that McCarthy is basically equivalent to that of Jaden Daniels and that the systems in which they operate is the key separating factor. Now, Tannenbaum is not wholly off base. In that systems do matter, and Jaden played with two first round picks at wide receiver, an incredible offensive line, and his system that was willing to lean on him, trust him and let him open it up. Whereas JJ McCarthy played on a very good team, one that was just gonna win it didn't care how they did it, and a lot of times how they did it was just being ultra conservative. Again, one of the most amazing things of this last football season amazing moments was Michigan not running a single passing play in modern football in the second half against a top ten opponent in Penn State. No matter how many times you state that, it remains fucking absurd. Uh So, certainly McCarthy's numbers were held down a bit by the system that he was in, But I think these comments from Tenenbaum were made a little too early, right, macarthy had a good workout, good size, good measurables, good testing numbers. Just wait until what you see out of Jada Daniels on Pro Day, you know, wait until you see the forty time, wait until you see the drills, the measurables, and you're gonna be like, oh shit, Okay, no, no, he is that that that guy is at a speed above what we seen outa McCarthy. Uh, he has better arm and he's consistently shown it throughout the entirety of this last season. We had Chase Daniel last week and you could hear him gushing and falling over himself talking about the consistency which Jaden Daniels was able to attack the deep outside and the back shoulder throw. How hard it is to do that as often and as accurately as he did. And so look, JJ McCarthy is good, right, And maybe because of his youth and the system, like his ceiling is higher than it would look just from looking at rawstats coming out of Michigan. Certainly, but physically, I just don't think he's on the same level as a Jaden Daniels. Right now, Jaden Daniels put together one of the most incredible seasons we've ever in fact, the best statistical season for any Heisman winner since like nineteen seventy nine. Nick says, I do think JJ needs to City here. Yeah, I mean, I think all quarterbacks have been of it from City the year right, Like it's so funny we continue to throw quarterbacks into the blender immediately, and when they don't do good, we're like, oh that guy fucking sucks, and every now it does work, right, Like look at CJ. Stroud, right, He's one of the guys that gets owned immediately kicks ass. But but I think why I say it's funny is because we we keep throwing these guys in there early and if they if they suck immediately, we say they suck forever. Even though you look at guys like Geno Smith and some other guy like like a like a maybe even like a Tua after you make the switch from floor to McDaniel, and you see how much situation matters and an experience in Gino's case. But what's funny about all of this is that we have so much evidence that sitting is beneficial. Look at how the Packers did it training Aaron Rodgers under Brett Farr's nose. They had the most seamless handoff of any NFL franchise until the Packers did it again training Jordan Love under Aaron Rodgers knows Now, look at what Jordan Love just did last year. Now, Pat Mahomes didn't sit long, but Pat Mahomes still set a year behind Alex Smith before they decided he was the guy. I think the problem is generally, when you're one of these franchises drafting a top quarterback, you are desperate enough where you don't necessarily have the luxury of sitting because you've got owners that want their new shiny toy that they played with to be impactful now. And in greed base case, you had a very good, acceptable starter in Farvar and Rogers. In Kansas City's case, you had a very acceptable, solid starter in Alex Smith. The problem runs into like, if you're the Broncos this year and you draft a quarterback, who are you going to play in front of him? Is it gonna be like a Tyrod Taylor? You know, like some sort of journeyman guy. Well, owners and fan bases are cool with that with about four to five weeks, you know, and then they want the new guy, even if the new guy hasn't necessarily earned it. I guess one thing about CJ. Stroud Toby point out in this situation would be he earned that job during camp, but they clearly named him the starter early. Honest, they really liked what they had seen Lloyd Man that he says, Jade five needs to a season and senat at Burger Joy and put it about ten to twelve pounds. Definitely should gain some weight right there. There's a lot of rumors as to maybe that's why he did it weigh in at the combine. But but again, I think insert quarterback, then say insert quarterback name here, then say needs to sit a season, and I'll say yes on every single one of them. I don't think there's any rookie quarterback that would not behoove, any rookie player for that matter, that would not benefit from getting to sit for a year, learn to be a professional and have their on ramp into being an NFL player. Just have the angle of that on ramp just evened out a little bit over time. But again, you know that's when you're paid millions of dollars. With great money comes great expectation. So Nick says Jayon's ability is quite underrated. The dudes very mobile. Yeah, he tested great, he tested great, but it's still do not hold a candle to what Jayden Daniels can do with his legs. Kenny, where do you think Pennis goes in the drafts? I just can't see him falling out of the first of the town. He has regardless of injuries or age. Yeah, I don't know, man, It's tough for me to know on pennis, because I am I'm not a draft expert. I don't fuck with mock drafts really, you know, if you're into it. Hell yeah, man, engage in your passion. Not for me, though, Uh, I think I would go Pennicks first round, right. I think he's a proven winner. I think he was at his best generally in the biggest moments, even though certainly in that Natty, that excellent Michigan defense seemed to get the best of him. Finally, I think I'm not as concerned about that injury history given the amount of success that he had for the past two seasons at Washington. He feels like a winner. He throws maybe the pew prettiest deep ball of anybody. He's not afraid of competition. You saw him go to the NFL Combine and really sling it. I read an interesting report where there's somebod how the majority of the quarterbacks of the combine were kind of throwing a little safe, you know, a little behind because timing's new. They weren't really letting their rip. Pinnix's out there just fired it, so, I yeah, I love I love Pinnis. I think that's the first round quarterback. But again I don't it kind of seems like the NFL hive mind is turning on him a little bit. Sometimes really talented guys get screwed over the terrible situation. Trevor Lawrence's start was unfair. Yeah, I mean we've seen it time and time again. Again, I would point the Gino Smith in New York, New York with the Jets. How many guys have they ruined? Cleveland's ruined a ton of guys. You mentioned Trevor Lawrence. I mean, all of a sudden you bringing Doug Peterson and Trevor Lawrence looks really good. Now he's got to bounce back next year, but still had a bit of a renaissance you mentioned two oh going from Flories to McDaniel. Situation matters so much more then we give it credit for uh, but it's just kind of the nature of the business. What do you think about Caleb will you? I'm just going though, agent boneheaded in my opinion, major headache for whoever signs. And yeah, I mean it's tough right because he obviously has a management team in place, which I believe is made up of some family members and others. That's done pretty well by him in college. Right, he's already rumored to have made around ten million dollars, So I think I kind of understand his perspective a little bit. If that's who's been managing your affairs thus far, and then you're family and maybe you're not having to pay them the agent fee and you trust them. I agree with you that you open yourself up to maybe get taken advantage of in a contract negotiation. But the rookie wage scale is such that the parameters of the deals are pretty well defined, meaning it's a more friendly it's a more friendly atmosphere for maybe a less experienced negotiator to create these deals. So I would I would say that I kind of understand whe Caile Williams is coming from. Though I am also a believer that generally you pay people to do like what their full time job is, and in this case, it's for an agent to negotiate your deal. All right, we'll get back some of these questions here in a little bit. We do have our full mailbag segment coming up next on the docket today. Though, as I said, poor Billy Napier do blacksput. Billy can't seem to catch a break. And this time for you Florida fans, it's your own guy. The old ball coach, Steve Spurrier coming out and had this to say, quote, Billy is a good guy who works his tailoff. I like Billy, good family man. But we do, but we do wish the organization was a little bit more tidy. There's a feel around the gators of what the heck are we doing. There's a lot of questions that I don't have the answers to about the organization. Just as you hire the most people doesn't mean you're gonna win all these extra people. I question how much that really helps. So at a time and you had a recruiting class that was supposed to be his savior fall apart in the most dramatic and visible of fashions on signing day, at a time when you've turned it back to back years of unacceptable, subpar results, At a time where your assistant coaches and those who are closest to you are leaving for lateral moves, rats leaving the sinking chip. You even now have the most beloved coach in Florida history, the old ball coach himself, Steve Spurrier coming after you, and it's just so tough to think about how the hell Napier survived. It's actually getting so brutal that it's so bad that I've almost come around and now I'm like starting to cheer from a bit, just because he needs somebody in his corner. The other thing I didn't realize quite with Napier is that what was the deal with Dan Mullen, incredible on field coach, couldn't recruit. That's why you brought Napier in three classes in Napier has actually recruited at a lesser level Bendan Mullen and has proven to not even be near the same level in terms of an on field game day coaches. I believe Dan Mullen was probably one of the absolute best ever to do it. So sorry black Spot, Billy, but now you even got the old ball coach to contend with Royal Paints's Arkansas needs the trades of Tyson Chicken for Billy. I think he do better at a place he can build it out. I think he'd do better at a place where he can build it out a little. Yeah, I don't know what's an extra Napier man. He had so much success at UL, so we know that he can find consistent success at tough jobs at small schools. Why it did not translate to Florida, I'll never know. I thought it was a home run higher and I completely missed it. Nape, you had a great class till they went five and seven. That's interesting because normally you hear that recruits don't care that much about the on field results. But like all other things in life, there is a tipping point, right, There's a tipping point where things become so bad that then it does matter. So yeah, let's say you underperformed by a game or two. That should not affect that signing class. But if things go disastrously and then the Billy Naviers case, all of a sudden you have the feeling of a dead man walking and the stinch of the grim Reaper follows you everywhere you go, then, yeah, that tends to make people get a bit more anthe about committing to be with you. Yes, chat, I too, thought Scott Frost was a great hire. I know, I know, all right. Spring football is cranking up. LSU actually started practice today Alabama, I believe started practice yesterday, which means that the Albama Crypts tied end are their first spring without Nick Saban, fascinating in its own right, but also enter a spring in which they have a quarterback competition. Here's what Kaylen de Boor had to say when he was asked, based you know, is Jalen Milroe the starter? How are you handling it? So? Quote you want competition, right, the competition is going to be there, And yeah, someone had to take the first reps today with the ones we lined up, and we refer to them as ones, and Jalen Milroe did. He's putting everything into it along with the other guys that took these first reps. But I fully expect those guys that are really hungry to be pushing those guys that are ahead of them to be their best. That's what you want in a football program. So a lot of coach speak here, even going so far as to like, I mean we call them the ones, where they're not really the ones, and I get that that's not I mean, there's legitimacy there. Spring is about Spring is like a NASCAR race qualifying. It's about setting pole position for the job competitions that will open up in the fall, and that's where the race will ultimately want to see who the starter will be. But I think Kylen bor is exactly right what he said here, Like I think Jalen Milroe is the guy. More on that a second, But this is how you should approach every position in football, especially at the beginning of a new era where you have a clean slate situation. This fight's against complacency. It drives you to be the best right pushing the guys ahead of him, Iron Trepred's iron one man tripreso. These are all old cliches that we know all about. What I do think is interesting is I believe that the national perspective or maybe the outside perspective on Jalen Milroe is so much different than from the Alabama perspective outside looking in to me, I'm like, Jaln Milroe was pretty awesome last year. He was one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the entire country in terms of passer rating, super high yards per attempt. He's very dangerous pushing the ball downfield. He came up with massive game winning plays time and time again, and he has an ability to run the ball that is literally unparalleled with any other college football quarterback. So I'm like, yeah, I think Melroe is gonna be the starter because I think he's got one of the freakiest skill sets we've ever seen. And now you're pairing that with an offensive mind of the caliber of Kaylin de Borr and it's like, yeah, that should be fucking great. Right. However, you talk to Alabama fans and they're not all in on the Milroe bandwagon. I was doing some research today and research all right. I was text with Alabama frians and I was just kind of gauging, you know, where y'all's head's at with this quarterback competition. And they all said to a man that they think Milroe will win the job, but they hope that ty Simpson will take a big jump and take the job. And what I find to be fascinating about that is it's a little bit of the family guy boat logic. You know, Peter, do you want a boat or the mystery box? Well, I mean, shit, Lewis, you know, a boat's a boat, but the mystery box could be anything, could even be a boat. It's like, to me, I think you already have a great quarterback at Jalen Milroe. I think he's a piece that can win you the SEC that can buy for national championships. Again, that has an unprecedented skill set, whereas I haven't seen anything out of Ty Simpson that would suggest that. But yet you're still married to this idea of maybe Ty Simpson could become So I look, I don't know. One of my friends went so far as to say, quote, my nightmare is Milroe just does just enough to keep the job in spring, Simpson transfers and then Milroe ends up sucking again. Did Milroe suck last year? I don't think he did, so, I don't know that Milroe could suck. Nick says, who to be was at Milroe? What a SiGe Simpson show at all? Yeah? I mean, look, I agree, George says, as a Bama fan, I went the best player to play, I don't care who. Well, yeah, obviously obviously everybody wants the best player to play, right, But if you search your feelings, what I'm asking you is like, what's your opinion on Milroe? How he played last year? Do you think he's good or not? Because he was almost a born Heisman finalists and so it's just interesting from an outside perspective to here, so many Alabama fans be so dissatisfied. Well, what they saw last year, now granted wasn't up and down. Here beginning was bad and it really strong, but then the very very end was a bit disappointing in how they lost that. Uh that Rose Bowl for sure, Clinton's Center, London, Yeah, for sure. Uh. Next on the top of this list, don't miss Attic director Keith Carter went on Sports Talk Mississippi and he said that he believes a split is inevitable. Uh. And he's talking about football splitting off from the NC DOUBLA and splitting from different sports. I only bring this up so that y'all hear about this college football show, keep you on top of everything. What is interesting to me is to see how these sort of comments work their way up to chainey command. Right, So do you have splitting getting out of the NCUBLEA. Uh. It starts with like anonymous reports and whispers, then it climbs to ads and presidents, and then eventually it becomes a reality. So just add this to the ever increasing mountain of evidence, and these seismic changes when it comes to college football are far from over. Self awareness is jail Miller's is a top five top five in the country. QBR in cases, I love Milroe's Abama fan, Yeah, I look, I I agree like I'm scared of Jalen Milroe and somebody who cheers for a team that will have to go against him. Right, So Bruce Beldman came out with his top twenty five coaches at all college football, and it's an interesting top ten. Now, it should be noted it comes with a pretty large caveat if you've not been a major a coach for three years, Bruce Belman would not put you on this list. So no Damn Lanning, no Mike Elko, no John Sumrall, and Landing probably most impactful name because he should likely be on anybody's top ten list right now in my opinion. Here are Bruce Feldman's ranking as they sit. Number one. Kirby Smart no surprise there, unanimous obvious. Number two, Dabo Swinny hmmm, h all of a sudden, a little interesting number three, Lance Leipold, number four, Kaitlyn de Boor five, Ryan Day, six, Brian Kelly seven, James Franklin eight, Kyle Whittingham nine, Lincoln Riley, ten, Mike Norvell, and he has Sarkesian at eleven right on the outside looking in. First off, I think Landing should absolutely be in the top ten, even though clinton Is landing record versus Washington Wazoo in Oregan State was very great. I think it's a program that's moving in the right direction. Just look at the we won't whatever we've talked about playing on the show, the recruiting, the results. I would have probably put Landing at around ten. Yeah, I think I would. I think would have put Landing at ten. If I had to take somebody off of this list. Hmmm, Actually that does become a bit tougher. I would take Lincoln Riley off. I think Lenco Riley had a bad enough year, and the direction is bad enough, and there's enough questions surrounding him where I could have him at eleven or twelve outside looking in Uh Bitchprice Kiffen isn't in there, Jorda. That's a good point as well, obviously. So I'd see this list and what jumps off to me is like, oh my god, Davos Sweeney at two, what the fuck? This thing is awful? But then you start saying, Okay, who would you put over him? Right, And it's like, well, maybe would have put Kaylen to Boor. But I guess we we haven't seen how he'll recruit at Alabama, how consistent he can be there year to year. He was incredible his two years at Washington. But maybe Dabo Sweeney's time at Clemson still Trump's that. I would absolutely put Ryan Day of Dada Sweey, zero problem with that whatsoever. Ryan Day would likely be second on my personal list. I think the Ryan Day slander has just taken on a life of its own and is a bit crazy. At this point, I could argue Brian Kelly over Switty, but even then I think you got to get into a lot of nuance, right you gotta be like, well, Brian Kelly is a number one recruiting class for twenty five. He seems to have adapt to do this current age of football better than Swinty has. I guess the problem with Swenny being this high on the list is his resume is going to be hard to argue get to any of the guys. But if this was like soccer and you were talking about current form, he would be way down lists because he has absolutely refused to adapt. Clemson had their worst year by far last year. I don't see a ton of reasons why they should be better this year. So I think the biggest takeaway here actually is reinforcing just how much of a void is left by Nick Saban and Jim Harbaugh leaving in terms of having your certified names that everyone believes to a man or elite like in the past, you pretty much especially like let's say Harbor and Saban ever returned this year. I guarantee every top five list would have started with some mixture of Smart, Sabing, Harball, every single one of them, and it would have been right in doing so. Now Kirby Smart is the only unanimous pick after that. Like I said, you could make an argue for Dambo two Community Garden for day at two. You can make an argument for de boor At two if you want to do any of these names, and you would actually have some legitimacy. Legitimacy there Optimius climb since you'd have Mike Norvel higher again, it's I mean, I definitely had Norvel over Lincoln Riley. It becomes a bit tougher for that. I'd probably have him over James Franklin. I remember Mike Norvell was my answer for my favorite their last week's mail back favorite head coach o c DC Trio, so they have at Florida State. But I don't know that I put him over Kyle Wadingham yet, And then I'd probably put him behind Kelly Data boor leipoltswiney and smart. Although nobody has more potential to climb on the list then does Mike Norvel, because if he keeps this Florida State program as good as they've been the last couple of years, are damn near it after suffering the grievous injustice that they did. I cannot explain to you how impressive that is. It's not just the results, it's it's surviving a wound that is so deep that it has the potential to fester and and and really rot a program from the inside out. Who are you talking about here? Okay, Colin Moore Maddin says Kivin is top ten. I'm a biased ole Mis fan, but I mean, come on, he's top ten. I think in the past this weekness was saving. He tried too hard any time he played them. But he's a good team this year and should be very good. Okay. If we wanted to put Kiffin in, Okay, so let's say we put uh, we put Landing in here, we get rid of Riley. If we want to put Kiffin in, who goes out? I guess it has to be waiting him. I mean, maybe Lance Leipold's doing too much here, given that him and Kivin have both done kind of similar things in that they've done things that have never been done at schools before. Lppolt's probably be too high. I would barely have waiting him pushed out for Kiffin, and I could put Kivin at ten. Absolutely, I mean absolutely right. They'll miss an Nember one ten games before. They have done it twice and won eleven games the first time in school history. They look like a certified playoff team coming this year. Yeah, I agree, con, I agree, con I would put I put Kiff at ten, and yeah, I would have I would have Brian Kelly in the top five. I would have Lippold in the top five. Though I love what he's done, I would I wouldn't have him in the top five. All right, let's get into some Snaps mail bag. We do it in every Tuesday. You can send in your questions. Where can they send in the questions? Actually, PG it to a question. I don't know where we gather them before the show, but you can send in the questions and look, if you're listening or watching right now, there you go. You email us at snaps CFB at gmail dot com. Snaps CFB at gmail dot com and you can submit your questions and and then look get him in the chat and I'll get to those as well. First question comes with Lori, h what's your favorite play football or theater that you were evolved in. Well, theater wise, it's obviously the Nutcracker. Being the purple party to have this last year was life changing and I look forward to doing it. I look forward to doing it every single year from here on out. It was so much fun. Uh. Football wise, I have a couple and this is dangerous for you, Lori, because you've done open a bit of a can of worms when it comes to former athletes, which is the ability to talk about your former glory. Here is what some have called one of the most underrated plays in LSU football history two thousand and eight. On the road in Jordan Hare, Auburn kicking off. They try to squib it to avoid trindon holiday. Little do they know that they send it to the up back, a young red shirt freshman t bob Abear, who scooped it up with deft athleticism, lowers his head and gets a thirteen yard kick return. I mean, look at that, guys, Look at that watch watch it boom, who fell who fell forward? Who fell forward? For an extra two yards there? And yeah, I was rocking forty nine at the time because I was playing fullback. Actually, I'll never forget after that. We used to all come back from like the away games and we would watch ESPN late night the replay of the game. And I was so excited to hear my name on TV for the first time. And then the announcer called me Kirston Pittman because I had number forty nine on And if you don't listen to if you don't know else, you probably don't know who Chris Pitman is. It's like a six to seven black guy, so legend. But did not hear my name. But still, bro, that was badass, dude, that was badass. Drive start of the forty three. Okay, there you go. H My other favorite play, uh, this is from a UL game. And the only reason I like this play is because it looks like the type of play you see in a in a in a football movie where I cannot explain what came over to me climbing to the second level and when I went to block this linebacker, I just knew it. I was like, I'm a flip this motherfucker like like I'm it was. It was so time slowed down and I just saw it all lined up and look at played it. Look at the look at the full flip that he pulls in the air. I mean, my guy lands on his ass and then gets speared in the back. Absolutely love it. Yeah, it should have been a flag. It should have been a flag for sure. But I was a dirty player, you know. I love dirty play. Clint Moses, we need more film session. Yeah. Look, if we ever end up like doing like a Patreon or something like that, I don't know whatever I have ideas like that. I just find some of that stuff to be a little self indulgent. But it would be kind of fun maybe to go back and like watch them old highlights. There's something back in the day. So thank you for indulging me, Laurie. Those are a couple of my favorite plays ever. Now that question for two pimps are Mike l t Bop, what would it take for LSU to make the playoff in twenty four to twenty five? Give me three reasons to believe in the Tigers. I want to be clear about this right now, Where I sit with LSU. I have them right outside the playoff looking in. I have them kind of finishing how they did this last year, right at about thirteen. And the reason is I just got I talked about, Okay, I talked about on the show this morning. The lshoe is filled with question marks an a year in what they're expected to take this massive step forward, a year which the fan base is expecting them to be a playoff team. They have question marks at basically every position safer offensive line. They got a new offensive coordinator, they got a new quarterbacks replace in Heighs and Winner. They got some new wide receivers, are going to be expected to place two, maybe top fifteen picks in the NFL draft in terms wide receiver. You got a defense that was awful last year, got a bunch of new coaches. But what can they do with these players? Right I think the secondary is going to be good, but that's still a massive unknown. I think linebackers will be good, but that's still on Anne and the interior, if it's a line is terrifying. It's one of the worst groups I've ever seen on a major Power five team right now. And I don't think I'm exaggerating, so I don't want to be painted as hyper bullish on LSU. A lot of what they have right now is potential and it's up to them to realize it. Now. Three reasons why it could work out well. Won the new defensive staff right, last year's staff was a complete disaster, and now you get one of the more exciting minds in Blake Baker, guy that had great success at LSU as a linebacker's coach, great success as Maszoo as a coordinator. Now you bring him in and I want to say you get him better players, but again that defensive line. Ugh, But still you're bringing Blake Baker. You're bringing Bo Davis, one of the best D line coaches in the entire country to tune of one and a half million a year. You're bringing Kevin Peeoples, who, talking to people around the business, is thought to be one of the real fast risers in the game right now for college football, and it is a huge win for LSU to get him on staff. You bring back the godfather of DBU and Corey Raymond and coach your secondary once again. And yeah, so I think the new defensive staff, even with maybe some personnel challenges. The defense should be much much, much, much much improved last season. Second reason why they can make the playoffs the offense should remain elite. Yes, there are question marks, but I really like what I saw at Garrett that's fireing the Bowl game. I really like the guys that they got it receiver right, Kyran Lacy, Chris Hilton, They got CJ. Daniels from Liberty, one of the top wide receiver transfer on the market this past offseas. They have five stars in Shelton Samson, who now it's their opportunity. So like again, unproven, but I like it. And most importantly, I do believe they have the best offensive line returning in the entire country. And if it's not the best, it's it's top three. The third reason is that Brian Kelly's been telling you year three is the time. Since he got this job, he's been saying that the third year would be the major step forward. And that's why you pay him ten million dollars a year is to be able to forecast these things. And so if you want reasons, feel bullish. Even though there's question marks, I think there's a ton of potential, especially offensively. I think defensively, you're in much better hands regardless of personnel issues. And the third year should be best because Brian Kelly has been saying it's going to be best. Jeff Sol says l She's gonna make the playoff for sure. We'll see. Man, it's very competitive year, very competitive year. All right, let's get in some chat questions, ask snaps, go dog, you played my cousin. J C. Copeland wrote recruiting pitch LSU used to give Georgia players. It gave me respect for LSU. Shout out jac Copland, that's my dog. I got a lot of stories that I cannot tell because I can't put somebody publicly on blast of a good story. He's not like putting him up last, but just funny stories that I probably shouldn't get into. But yeah, I love JC. You want to talk about a bestmode fullback? D Liman that switched the fullback was an absolute animal. That was J C. Copeland the recruiting pitch of Georgia players. You know, I don't entirely know because for me it was different in that I grew up an LSU fan, so I was always kind of gonna go there. It was more of just like a confirmation for me. I think, look, I think sometimes in college football we look at being like playing for the hometown team as a one hundred percent positive. Sometimes guys, when you get out and experience different things like I know, for me, one of the reasons one of the things I wanted to do was go somewhere that I didn't grow up in. I grew up in Georgia, so going Louisiana had some extra appeal. I think there's some people like that. I think also sometimes you visit a place and you just fall in love with it, And I think when you're talking about LSU, you are talking about a one of the more diverse schools in the SEC, both population wise and culturally. I was kind of fascinated to talk to a coach of the senior ball and he's someone who has recruited and coached at both A and M and LSU, and who's saying, do you know how any recruit battles I lost to A and M when I was at LSU zero? And then he said, you don't have any recruit battles I won when I was at A and M to LSU zero. And one of the reasons he said, he said, it's not necessarily like maybe for publican subjects say something like this, but it's like A and M. Just it feels too white. I mean, it feels too white. You go there and it's got the military school and the agriculture and everything, whereas you go to an LSU and it is more of a melting pot than a lot of your other SEC schools. And so I look that. I'm sure that's why some guys may be influenced to go there. It's just another piece of the pie though, right. The reasons are many. You fall in love, that your family falls love, that you like the coach, you like, you like the the depth chart in front of you right, like give a clear path to the field. There's a ton of reasons why. Brandon Kirkland, first time ever catching all live. Love the show too. Hell yeah, Brandon, welcome man. It's a ton of fun. We do it here live Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and I hope you enjoy it because it's my favorite part. Chance babit Tebob. Did you spend summers down the bay you growing up? I did not spend summers down to buy you. I used to go down the body for Thanksgiving every year, do a little Christmas down there as well. But my summers we're spent up in Taleda Bin Lake in Manny, Louisiana. That's where my mom's from, and that's where we had and still have a camp and always did growing up. And that was like, yeah, two months every summer spent spin up there at the lake, just live in a very spoiled, awesome silver spoon upbringing it was yeah, really thankful. It was awesome. And I now and I'm you know, like again, I'm very blessed. Now I get to bring my own kids up to uh up to taleda Ban and that's awesome. We're at bay U. East thirty ninth cut off is where I spent most of my time right there of a highway one. My grandparents used to live off East third ninth, So love me cut off. Even though it's kind of in a tough spot right now with the oil industry and post hurricane and everything. Let's see here what else we got? What else we got? Snap spil bag predictions from Michigan with that harbor o, I mean dove into the schedule, but just thinking about, like I think Penn State should be better than Michigan this next year, not just because they lost Harbaugh, not just because they lost Mentor and other coaches besides Harball. But Michigan may have like twenty players drafted. Right, they set the record for players invited invited to the combine. That's an exodus of talent at both coaching and on the roster itself that you cannot gloss over. Right, Whereas Penn State's going to return a lot, they returned Durala for another year, teams Franklin's got him consistently rolling. So I think it more of like a hierarchy, right. I think that in Michigan fans will be upset with me for this, But I think that Ohio State, Oregon, and Penn State should all finish above Michigan. I don't know what that record looks like, but I think they should all finish above Michigan and the Michigan should probably be the fourth team in the in the Big Ten this year, Chen Spabbing, can you be a fast rise in your thirtieth season? He said, in relation to that's funny as snaps rumors that A and M wants to leave in the Big Ten because they are mad about Texas crazy or real. I can't speak to. We have to get Billy Lucian to speak to maybe the veracity of the rumors. But I never doubt A and M's ability to feel insecure about Texas. Right. It's one of the reasons why they left the Big twelve originally. And now, well, like we said, Texas is the prodigal son here big brother returns and despite his years of drinking and hard partying and fucking around, all it took was really one off season of living right and getting in the gym and making some better decisions. And he comes home and the parents are slaughtering the fat and calf for him, and he's all anybody can talk about, even that poor old A and M's been sitting there, fucking grinding, doing everything you asked him, and yet still all y'all want are the Longhorns, oryld pains. As A and M's do, I true Texas gym kind of how it feels, kind of how it feels. I do think the Big tim would be interested to get into Texas though, So that's that's I thought about. That ass snaps. Dartmouth men's basketball is voted thirteen to two to union eye. Will football be coming soon? Always leave it to the smart cuts, right yeah, I think Look, Keith Carter, we said it early the show, the old miss A d said he thinks football is splitting off in its own thing is inevitable. I think part and parcel with that comes a union for the players, comes a CBA, comes a clarifying of the rules that all the schools are operating under. So yes, I would again, and whatever my opinion accounts for and something like this, I think that's probably inevitable for sure. Let's see we got any more we when we get to as snaps. You once owned a totally bad lsu Neon sign. What do you think happened to that thing? Uh? Yeah, Ricky, I think I gave it to you and then you gave it to somebody else. I can't a player, I believe, I have no idea. Somewhere out there. Let's go Tiger's fifty three. I heard he used to hang in somebody's dorm and they would party in under it all the time. So that makes me happy. Anything that I own like that, I just hope there's like a bunch of irresponsible binge drinking and ill advised hand stuff going on underneath it, shining lights. Maurice Hampton took it. Fuck, I wonder what he's doing now. He transferred with Facebook Instagram, with Facebook and Instagram down today and at and T down last week. Are we in the end times? Uh? Oh, We've probably been in the end time since the creation of the Internet, right. This is one of those deals where when you look at history, it's real easy to talk about two hundred years as if it was five minutes, you know, like oh, and then like if you're looking at empires and you hear that an empire ruled for one hundred years, that feels like a blink, right, despite the fact that that's kind of multiple generations entire lifetimes potentially. So where I'm going with this is the creation of the Internet and everything that has come with it is so astronomically game changing, and everything seems to be hyper accelerating so fast right now, and humanitian robots seem to be merging into some sort of new consciousness that will officially take over we'll transcend our mortal skins. Yeah, I think we are. I think we entered the end times in you know, the past thirty forty years or you want to say the creation of the computer, or whatever the case may be, as snaps, what classic movie would have been better as a high level television show? For example, I'd say Dune. Well, I mean, I think New Dune is doing just fine. But hmmm, they're making Harry Potter into a television show, which I don't like because the production aesthetics of Harry Potter are fucking perfect. A lot of other things can be done better, but like, you have to roll with those aesthetics again. But will they I don't know. Hmm. I'd have to think on this. I'm sorry that no answers coming to my head. I should be faster on my feet here, but I find that to be a deeply interesting question, and I'd rather give it a bit more time to to to really see how I feel about it. Because also sometimes I don't like TV shows. I like the kind of in and out nature of a movie and how much more enjoyment you can get out of having it just quickly kind of all in one sitting as snaps. So what came you going to take Quadbab two so you can get some of those formative memories. I don't know yet. Quad Bob will have to wait a little bit before he starts going to games these one year old You know that's a bit too much. I have thoroughly enjoyed taking my daughters, who are a bit older now six and four, to like l Shue gymnastics, Lshue softball, things along those lines. It's one of these huge fun benefits of living next to a college campus. It's just like fun activities to do with the kids all the time. Brandon Kirkland T Bob, I go to Bama. Any chance you think the boor turns Millera into a pocket pass this year? See this, I think is a bit of the flawed logic that some Bama fans are engaging with. I'm not saying you are, Brandon, but it's this idea that Milroe needs to be a pocket passer. You don't take a fucking You don't take a lion and tell them to hunt in the same manner that like I don't know, like a gator does right, or one of those animals that just sits there with its mouth though, been waiting for prey to climb it. No, you tell to be a fucking lion, like go fucking run, like don't go square peg round hole in this. If Ty Simpson's best suit is being a pocket passer, try to maximize that with a scheme with play calls right and lean into it and try to get him to be the best Ty Simpson he could be. Jalen Milroe and Ty Simpson exist in different silos of what you need the offense to be around them, and that's okay to have both of the team. I think whoever went to start a job, you just start to tailor it more towards him. But I think Calea Bor is enough an offensive mine where he absolutely understands that right like, and you can say ty as Wheels, that's fine, but again not to not to Jalen's level of wheels. Right. So if you say you want Tim to improve his pastor yes, I mean Kaylea Bor will lead Jalen Miller to improve it as a passer. But that should not You should never set out with the intended goal of I want to make him a pocket passer, lean into what he does good and customize customize that around it. Your final thoughts on Night Country, This last one here the latest true detective. Unfortunately I can't even give final thoughts because I fell asleep during the finale, and I've not gone back and watched it, which probably is a bit of a commentary onto itself. I I really liked episode five. I've heard very bad things about episode six, so I'd be lyning of us. That had to influence me not going back and watching it, So we will. I'll do that. I will make sure to do that for next Tuesday, and I will have an answer for you. Hey, look, massive, thank you for everybody who joined the show today. On these solo shows, you'all make it so much fun and give me so much bouts off of talk about huge tanking here guys, Chris Tran, Pat Gunter, the excellent production team here on snaps. I remember we got Spencer Hall, my man. Every day should be Saturday, sincer Hall himself again. If you love Warhammer forty K and you love college football, that's the episode for you.
