Shannon The Dude and Billy Rutledge talk UK's win over LSU, Publix subs, and ramen noodles.

Welcome everyone to another edition of the show. Before the show, the KASR Pre Show. It's Billy Retligion, Shannon the Dude, and you can give us a call on the Clark's Pumping Shot phone line. That's eight five nine two eight zero two two eight seven or textas at five oh two two six five six six five six. As always, the KSR Pre Show is brought to you by Italx Fine Italian Dining in Lexington. The fiance had a little Italics yesterday, so taking in some great Italian food as she made her way to the game.

It was senior night for the Kentucky Wildcats, but we'll get to that in just a second. Shannon the Dude is in Louisville. Good morning, Shannon. How are you, my mam?

I'm doing good. You want to take me out to Italics. I gotta get out there. We talk about it all the time. I feel like I need to go try some metallics.

I would love for you to come try some metallics, but I don't know if I'm picking up the check sham oh I uh. And we may be one of those split bill conversations that we need to have.

The awesome time situation awkward where it's like who wants to pick up the bill? And then like everybody just kind of looks at he other and everybody gets alligator arms and nobody's picking up the bill.

Oh yeah, yeah.

It's like, you know, whoever touches the bill first sometimes is obligated to do it or some.

Or how about like when they you know, they come out and they go, how do you want to.

Do the check?

One person says, split it, one person goes, just put it on one. That's all that happened.

Yeah, you just got drinks and everybody else got entres.

And then suddenly we're you know, every then you're having to pitch in and split the bill evenly. It's like no, no, no, no, I'm just paying for my drinks. It is an awkward conversation though, but you probably won't find me on this radio budget paying for many lunches. Shannon, I want to touch on a couple things before we get to the game. Cat's got a feel good win over the Tigers last night. Did you happen to see the images that came out of Green County, Kentucky last night. Don't know if you spend any time yesterday outside, but it was very windy.

I mean, my mom came up.

We had some lunch outside yesterday and Lexington and it was a little windy outside. But there was a wind fire in Green County, Kentucky last night.

Wow.

That burned twenty three acres and had flames higher than the houses of people that were being evacuated in the area. There were multiple agencies that had to come out to put out the fire. But Shannon, I just saw the images this morning. It is incredible that this happened just two hours south of Louisville.

Yeah, I'm looking at it right now. I mean, it looks like something from the California wildfires. Yeah, and it's that is scary. So no, I didn't know about that. I know it was really wendy yesterday. It was still really wendy this morning too. So definitely want to keep those people who were affected by that in our thoughts today.

Oh good glad everybody was okay.

Everybody was evacuated in time, but twenty three acres were burned. And Shannon, Man, we had that show at the fire department recently.

That's right.

I don't know if I can be cut out for that. Man, what would you pictures like that.

What do you do when you walk into a wall of fire that goes on for like a mile?

Really?

Yeah, where do you start with that? Does open up that hose and let her go?

Hope for the best and God forbid, you've got to go in there to save an animal or a being.

Yeah, I mean, I know.

You're decked out in equipment that we had Ryan Lemon put on at one point during that show, But I mean just the bravery to be able to do that job.

Man.

I'm glad everybody's okay in Green County, and thank you to everybody that helped with that scary situation. The other thing was, you guys were talking about the Oscars yesterday on KSR, and I did not realize that Adrian Brody's acceptance speech was five minutes and thirty seconds long. Shandon, Yea, I did love your answer of I'm going longer you go ten minutes.

If I could talk ten minutes, I'm going yeah.

If I'm winning an Oscar, it's not about you and the crowd, I don't care if the people in the crowd are getting antsy because of a five minute speech. If I just want an Oscar, I want to go as long as I want to go, it's my moment.

You could play the music all you want.

I don't understand, as that pointed out to Matt yesterday, why did they play that music like, oh, here's your cue to leave. If they really wanted the person up there to stop talking, they would just turn off the microphone.

Doesn't seem like it would be that hard.

Well, I'll give you a little behind baseball. There are sometimes when we're doing the official UK pregame show that Dave Acre and Camera Mills get a little distracted Shannon. Maybe they go off on a couple of tangents. I have started playing music when it's time for them to break, and it kind of gets them in the right mindset and then they end up breaking within the next minute or so. So I can see the concept. But Adrian heard that music, he said, piped down and he was like, you know what, I've been through this before.

I'm gonna keep going.

Does it change your perspective at all that the average acceptance speech time is only forty five seconds.

Yeah, that doesn't even seem like long enough to even think your you know, significant other, your family and the people who helped you, you know win that award, so it seems like it's really short. The other thing, going back to your comparison with Dave and Cameron is yeah, you play the music, but if they don't stop talking, what do you do? You turn turn their microphone off.

So I don't know why they just don't do that, you know.

I mean, if you're in the middle of something that's you know, really sensitive, and I don't know, I would say, you still got to cut the mic off. You got to keep the show moving.

So during in the middle of a plea for world peace and you know, solving hunger throughout the world.

Apparently you can do it.

Mike, Hey, if you keedy commercial I can't sit in forty five seconds, then it's not going to be heard on stage with the oscars.

Apparently.

Well, I'm sure ABC is hiring right now. Maybe you could get a job there with some of the production that they do. But the cats Man big win over at the LSU Tigers last night, the final score ninety five to sixty four. We'll talk about the SEC seeding, what it means for you know, the games that we'll see later tonight, and also the Kentucky Missouri game this weekend, but Shannon, good to see Otega away bounce back. Brandon Garrison a great game from him. Colin Chandler as well. Six seniors were honored to another great crowd at Reparina last night, and a good way to cap off the seasont app rup.

Don't you think, oh yeah, I think you hit it earlier.

I mean you said, feel good win and that's the type of win that this team needed after what they've gone through with the injuries, with the Auburn loss on Saturday. Just good to see Kentucky bounce back by The takeaway is LSU is a really bad team, but you know what, let's let's not discredit what Kentucky did. And you know, this is a type of game where you know you could have snuck by and won it by six or seven points or something like that. But to their credit, they got up early, they put their foot on the on the gas and blew out LSU And it never really was a game.

If Kentucky's Bentu only had five points in their game versus Auburn, they had forty three in this game, and it felt like a little bit of a game that Kentucky was able to define some roles after the Jackson Robinson injury, right, I mean, this is the group that you're going to be playing with in the SEC Tournament and throughout March. I mean, it doesn't look like we're going to be getting back kerk Cresa anytime soon. So I mean, you know, it was great to see a guy like Ansley Almanor have a night like that. It was great to see Colin Chandler play with that kind of confidence.

Best game of the year for Colin.

We have talked about in the past that you know, you know, possibly the injury to Arkansas and Boogie Flan helped DJ Wagner and Arkansas be a better team. You know, I hate to see Jackson Robinson on the sideline, but Shannon, maybe this will be the beginning of Kentucky, you know, trying to reach the potential ceiling that they have now.

Yeah, and maybe you know, sometimes when you have an injury, you can use that as even more motivation, you know, to have yeah, you know, to win it for Jackson and win it for Kerr. So you see teams sometimes rally around the injuries and what they don't have, and I think that that might, you know, be a little extra motivation for this team going into March. But now you got to look ahead. Okay, you got Missouri coming up on Saturday. You had a little help as far as the SEC tournament seeding last night, Vandy losing to Arkansas and a couple of other was Mississippi State that lost as well last night, right, so that helps.

Texas got it done in overtime. Auburn, the number one seed, loss last night to A and M. Though that doesn't impact Kentucky very much.

No, but the teams that you needed to lose last night did lose, and it's looking like Kentucky is most likely going to get a seed or I guess an eight seed, maybe you know, first round by I think there is still one scenario in which Kentucky still could end up the nine seed and play on Wednesday.

But a lot of that happened.

That has to do with them losing to Missouri on Saturday. I think it also has something to do with Old Miss going to and OHO. In that span, there's a couple other instances like Bandy losing I think.

I think I think Old Miss would have to go oh in too. I believe oh and Too against Tennessee and Florida. I think I've got that right. I might have to look it up, because there's like, there's five different things that have to happen. Vandy has to win at Georgia. I know that has to happen, and then it would get into a scenario to where you look at like the round robin and how many games you want against the teams that you're tied with in the standings. Point being, there's a lot of different situations to where they would have to happen for Kentucky to be a nine seed. You come in Saturday, you beat Missouri. You don't have to worry about any of those other scenarios.

You're right, Just take care of business and you will avoid that Wednesday game. Here are the five results that have to happen for Kentucky to be playing on Wednesday. Ole miss must go h and too against Tennessee and Florida. Like you said, Kentucky loses at Missouri, Mississippi State loses at Arkansas on Saturday, and Vandy beats Georgia Saday.

Now, as I hear those things all very possible, EST's sound all that far fetched for all those things to happen. Of course, if I wanted to not happen. All I'd have to do is put those things into a DraftKings, Paul, right, and I would ensure that that's not gonna happen because I know I'm not winning a parley on DraftKings, and they.

Can take one for the team and make that parlay.

Okay, all right, you way to pay five dollars for Kentucky to get.

At I would just like you know, Ryan Lemon betting on punts, I would like you to throw your money away there.

Please. Ole Miss beats.

Tennessee tonight and that wraps that conversation up, though, right, I mean, so you know it sounds like we are rebel fans tonight as they take on the balls. You know, it was a good game for Brandon Garrison. He had fifteen points and four assist but he fouled a guy with zero point four seconds left in the game. Everybody thought it was over. They brought everybody, and that allowed an opportunity for Mark Pope to put the walk ons in Shannon, including the walk on that made the team during those tryouts earlier in the year, the man from Madisonville, Zach Tawe. In a special moment post game, where Mark Pope shared that Lamont Butler asked that if they could get zach Taw his own jersey, a guy that never missed a day, never missed a rep. They presented him with a jersey before the game, and just so have it, he was able to get into the game, so he will officially be registered as a Kentucky Wildcat. A cool story from a guy in Drew's neck of the woods, and I think kind of epitomizes what this season has been about, right, I mean getting back to guys that care about the name on the front of the jersey. And I think that was poetically wrapped up by zach Taw entering the game.

Yeah, first of all, yeah, a great moment for him. But somebody was asking us last night. I thought I would just, you know, hang on to it and ask you for the show today. Fair or foul? With zero point two seconds left in the game, up thirty points, put in your walk ons, did you know delay in the game for? Because if you watch the TV broadcast, they went away from the game, they thought the game was over, They went back to the studio. Then they had to send it back out to Lexington for the last what two free throws? I guess with point two seconds on the clock.

Uh, you you disrespected in that moment if that's the case, Like, is that what you're getting at there?

Because and I.

Could see that, I would have loved Pope would have put him in a little bit sooner than that.

Is who disrespected LSU or the players?

The players?

Like, if you're a walker No, I guess the fair foul is delaying the game even longer just so you could put the guys into standing there at the free throw line.

Oh yeah, so.

I don't I'm good with that. Yeah, Like it's it's a senior night. You're up by thirty, you know, you know what, Just sit there and take it, LSU. You're not taking timeouts, You're just seven guys in. So I think I'm fair with that.

Yeah, but I am too, just because I feel like it's almost like Pope going, okay, if you really all right, referees, if you're really wanting to extend the game another exactly point two seconds that I'm going to extend it, you know, another two seconds to put in my walk Ons at this point. So I don't feel like it's disrespectful to the walk Ons.

At all.

I think just from the point of like delaying the game even longer, I feel like it was more of a pope taking a little shot at the referees for extending the game and not letting it end than it was disrespect for anybody else.

Well, it was nice to have a game under two hours, Shannon, that is how long a basketball game needs to be. It seemed like that was perfect. But we had the extended post game and all the seniors came out and talked to the crowd. It was a really special moment. But once that that indicates success for Kentucky has been three three pointers shot in a game, right, And how many times have we talked about that thirty five point mark or thirty five attempt mark. They attempted thirty two in this one and made twelve. So I mean, there you go. I think that's a comfortable number that if you want to win games. I think that's the number that, hopefully that this team can get to. They played with pace at times and Spike Kobe Bryan not having the best game, the bench showed out and Kentucky was able to get like we said, that feel good win. So eight five nine two eight h two two. Were you at the game, We'd like to hear from you. What do you think about the Cats as we get close to postseason play. You know, I was worried about that Missouri game, Shannon. Then they didn't have that that great of a showing in their last game, So I'm not really sure what to think about this up.

It's so hard to figure out.

I mean, Missouri played so well just a couple of games ago, and then you know, they go on the road, they lose in Nashville to Vanderbilt, and then you know, drop some other games. So I don't know, it's just it's hard to figure out this Missouri team. Kind of like Kentucky it was kind of hard to figure out earlier this year. Sure, you know, like they win games you think they're gonna lose, They lose games you think they're gonna win. It's it's just it's tough sometimes to figure out what's gonna happen and who these teams really are at this point, even going in to March badness. Some of these teams you know that you thought were world beaters maybe are now on the down slide.

Yeah, And it just feeds to the excitement of us getting this SEC tournament. It should be a lot of fun. In one note, you know, Damian Collins made his return to rep Arena last night cheers from the fans, which I did like to see after some of the tough things he went through here at his time at Kentucky. But he only had two points. I mean he was dominated by Amari Williams. I mean you could tell that Amari was bigger and stronger than him last night. But best of liked to Damien in his playing career. We'll take a break, take some of your phone calls, and get to more random nonsense here on the show.

Before the show, it's the KSR pre Show.

Welcome back, it is the KSR pre Show. My co host Shannon Dude's gonna get me emotional this morning. This song is my high school graduation song.

Oh was it really?

I didn't even know if you would know this song because it was big when I was in high school.

There is a graduation song by Vitamin C.

Yeah. Oh man, I get a little emotional thinking about this.

Sort of an emotional song when you actually think back to your high school years and like how you know you're friends with all these people growing up, and then you go off to college and a lot of times you don't even have connection or you know, talk with any of these people anymore. Of course, you know, social media kind of helped out with that a little bit too, right.

No, you're exactly right.

I mean, you see these people every single day for many years, and then it's like poof, they're gone.

Yeah, they go off.

They have families and they're not hanging out with you every night, and.

You'll make an f world.

I mean, usually those relationships just kind of peter out, right, and if you don't make the ten year anniversary, then there's a chance you may never see those people again.

I'm lucky enough to say that I have, first of all, a really small group of friends, but good friends that I've known a couple of them since well one of them since I was the age of five, and he's been my best friend pretty much my whole life. So I'm, you know, lucky in that regard. And then you know, some of my other friends I've known since probably like second grade, third grade, and then another couple of friends that I've known since high school. So my core group of like close friends, the ones that actually do get invited to the Christmas parties are the ones that I've known my entire life.

Well, I'm looking forward to meeting them at this next Christmas party.

Oh, there are a bunch of hooligans. You don't want to meet my friends?

No, I'll be there, be right.

I've got about five or six guys that are that close knick group as well from high school. But a couple of them were the guys taking pictures of me at the club on the bachelor party that one time.

Wait a minute, how we really Yeah, the one that left you at the club.

Left us at the club.

Okay, that was also taking pictures of me and sending it to the fiance at the club.

Yeah, that's not it. I don't want to hang out with your friends. What a bunch of backstabbers.

I know we've been silently moving away, maybe from that friend, but you know what things happened. I also looked at Shannon the dude during the break and he's pounding a cup of noodles in between taking phone calls. Shanning, do you normally eat cup of noodles this.

Early in the morning.

Well, here's the deal, man, Like I am up at five thirty, I'm you know, by the time I get up, grab a shower, maybe a cup of coffee to go. I'm on the road at six o'clock to get here about seven o'clock and then from there we just go, so there's no time to actually stop and have breakfast. So at some point get a little hungry, right, you gotta go. You gotta eat what you can. And here in the cafeteria, uh, if you want to call it that, we've got a cup of noodles, ramen noodle.

When's the last time you ate some ramen noodles?

Like out of the cup talking like ten cent noodles that I lived on during college. That was probably the last time that I ate ramen noodles on a consistent basis.

Last night, Oh, last night, last night I had a peanut butter and jelly and a cupo noodles as my dinner for all eight hour shift that I had here at the studio.

Shannon.

Oh, so they have the noodles at the station too.

No, I bought them and bring them in in a little lunch box. But you know, now they got the microwaveable ones, so you know, we can actually bring them to work instead of boiling water and things like that.

That's exactly what these are.

You know.

You put some water in there, you put them in the microwave for about two minutes and then pull the lid off and enjoy.

It's just a little jarring to see cupo noodles before ten am, you know, I see like British people eat their breakfast, like you know, baked beans on toast, and like, you know, what are we doing?

Well, here's the thing.

I mean, I keep in mind again, I just told you I got up at five thirty. I've already been up for four hours. So when you know that's true, I mean you're hit for lunchtime. Yeah, I mean for those of you that wake up at eight o'clock. You know, I think four hours later noon. This is my noon right now, at nine o'clock in the morning. What happens when you have to get up early and do the Jerry Eves show.

Well, yeah, early bird gets the worm, they say, Shan.

And I can pick Jerry Eves as my favorite Loisvill player, as we did yesterday. Here's the thing, Like somebody asked us who is your favorite loisll player, Tennessee player and duke player of all time? And I said Alan Houston. I really didn't have a good Lobel player other than like Paron Johnson or Jerry Eves. I think I picked a one wheat since Matt said you can't pick somebody, you know.

Uh, they dogged you for your was it your Duke choice?

Well, he said, you can't pick a white guy.

Oh yeah, you picked JJ Reddick.

Well why can't I?

I mean, I don't like any of these guys, but the ones that I remember were guys like JJ Reddick.

Don't there was a run of hateable white guys at Duke, right, Yeah, But.

I mean I think they're all hateable regardless of the color of their skin. Yuh, So I'm not discriminating here. I don't like any of them. But if you have to pick one, I don't know who you're gonna go with. You're not gonna pick a even though I will say that. You know, for years, everybody still hates Lightner. But when he came back and did that charity event, I don't know if you remember this. He came back years later, did a charity thing with Kentucky fans and let Kentucky fans come up, and he would lay down and let them put their foot.

On his chest.

I do remember that, Yeah, like he did.

In the game, and I feel like that made him more lovable. I know a lot of you are going to go, I'll still win you over over that. Do what did he win you over?

I think he did.

I mean, he didn't have to do that. That was really cool with him to do it, even though our fans are going to hate him forever. I think that he came on the show. He was a likable guy when he was on the show.

Then he did that.

He allowed Kentucky fans to come up and put their foot on his chest. I feel like that was a humble moment and something that he definitely did not have to do, but he did.

And I think that's kind of cool.

I do like where people are still wearing the I still hate Laightner shirts. Yeah, that was a good thirty for thirty documentary. I still hate Laatener and I'm not picking him, Shannon, but I did enjoy the grief that you got for picking JJ.

I'm not sure who I'd give it.

I don't know.

I mean, I'm not going to go that far away from you. I mean Bobby Hurley.

Maybe, Okay, all right, so I mean, Woja, how time like you're gonna pick Wojo who had power?

I'm not going to do any of that.

I mean, you know, if you got to pick somebody.

If you got to pick somebody, you know he's a he's a good broadcaster as well. Louisville wise, Peyton Siva was a good answer. I've gotten to personally meet him. Eric Wood I worked closely with on his podcast for a while. So there you know, there are some good apples on the other side of the aisle.

There is no doubt about it.

Uh.

Just about a minute or so left, so we'll take a call on the other side. But Shannon, if I were to get a cup of noodles for breakfast this morning, I would go to the new Publics that just opened in Lexington on Stockton Way.

If chee cheese is.

Your red or cut the ribbon moment, I cannot wait for it to be back open. Publics is mind Shanning. Growing up in Florida, Publics was the best. And since they've gotten a location in Louisville, now they're expanding to Lexington and I may just have to make a trip for one of those sub sandwiches they have public I guess I'm missing something here because you know, my home away from home down in Panama City Beach, Florida, Florida gat They've got Publics down there, and I go to Publics and I'm just like, Okay, it's just another grocery store. But people here are losing their mind over publics and I'm going, what am I missing here?

Is it the sub sandwiches or what?

Yeah, you never get the subs or like the Delhi area, it's kind of like they got a whole other department.

I mean that people act like those subs are life changing or something. I'm going, it's just a sub.

It's a sub sounds like your life hasn't been changed.

Okay, well, I'm going back down there next moth.

I will try a sub for you and I will let you know if it's mind change.

Double vacation with Ryan Lemon? Is that the Is that the time you're going to be down in Florida?

That's the plan?

Okay, yeah, all right, yeah, you guys can get a couple of chicken tender subs. You report back O kicking tender subs. Okay, yeah, all right, see, I'll put you on some game here. We'll take a break and be right back. Get to your calls next here on the ksrpre Show. All right, welcome back. It is a Wednesday edition of the KSR pre Show. Shannon the Dude and Billy Retligis. We'll take some calls here in this segment, so give us call it a five nine to two eight zero two two eight seven. Congratulations to the Kentucky baseball team. They had a sixteen to zero run rule victory against e KU in a windy game yesterday. They will also play again today at four pm, so we are in full swing of the UK baseball season. But speaking of college baseball, did you see what George Mason did yesterday?

Shannon, No, I didn't have George Mason baseball, mind, we didn't.

Watch George Mason baseball to Cross.

Where would I find that, like on the box or something?

Yeah, well me and you would find it on the box maybe the normal hooligan on ESPN plus. But George Mason broke a record that stood for forty years. In the second inning, they scored twenty three runs in one half inning sing and believe it or not, twenty three runs and the first batter grounded out, so they did it with one out and they ended up having eleven hits, eight walks, and five batters hit by pitch for twenty three runs and a single inning. Can you imagine being the pitching coach or involved at all as a Holy Cross player or manager? That would be nightmare field.

Eight walks and five hit batsmen? Good grief? Man, Like, can they not throw the ball over the plate? What kind of I mean comes up? This is this my gosh. I mean, it sounds like if they could at least throw the ball over the plate, they might be able to get somebody out. But that's the problem. It sounds like a wild thing. Vaughn back there just twenty.

Three runs in one inning. I mean that's literally that's T ball stuff.

Right, isn't it.

Yeah, I mean we're talking about college baseball in twenty three runs in one inning?

So they did they go to what was it seven? Do they go to seven innings or five innings?

Yeah? I think it's seven. What was the thought to get a run rule rule? I had to look that up.

Fifty six to nothing.

That'd be insane. But that was a record here. It was twenty six to six in a seven inning game. So they took it easy on them after that. Any That was a record that had stood since nineteen eighty four. So this is this is pretty historic except from George Mason. But I would be pulling my hair out, there's no doubt about that. So good luck to the UK baseball team. Let's go to the phone, Shannon, who's up first today.

Let's go to Brian. Hey, Brian, Hey.

Brian, he ain't good morning Gas, big win last night. I don't know if you guys actually know what happened last night at the end of the game, but all in Candler rebound of the ball, I was trying to dribble it out and the LSU player just kind of came up behind him and picked it and then Garrison foiled the kid, and yeah, Garrison meant, yeah, Garrison has I'm really concerned. Man, he's gonna make a bone head to play in the tournament because he he just doesn't make the most intelligent plays. Uh, he got a he got a player one last night and then he almost cost us the game in Oklahoma. They realistically could have probably you know, ted him up at the end of that game. And he just doesn't seem to make smart plays and he he he doesn't. You know, he wait great last night other than you know, those two mishaps there, but uh, he's got to realize you just gotta let that guy go. Man, this just let the guy go. And because if at the end of the game, crunch time Uh, you know, you just can't be making that type of play and his his awareness. Man, this concerns me going into the tournament.

Yeah, in that Oklahoma game, they you know, if it was like maybe a second later or second before that it happened, they could have teed him up and that could have been a disaster at the end at the end of that Oklahoma game. Luckily it didn't happen. But yeah, he's he's a little fiery billy. We appreciate the call, Brian, Thanks.

For Thank you, Brian for listening.

Yeah, I'd like to hope that that Oklahoma game was an outlier, a guy that had spent a lot of time in that state and played in that building. Before the flagrant that bri Garrison got last night, I could see, I mean it was just kind of a really tough block by him. But final five seconds of the game, Shannon, but see what Brandon Garrison's doing, because he he's going to get in somebody's face. He's going to make sure somebody doesn't shoot a meetingless shot. I mean, he's somebody that's going to play until that final whistle blows.

Yeah, And I mean, do you call that if you're the ref at this point, it's a thirty point game and there's half a second left, and I can't you just let that one go.

You have to call it exactly the same way.

That's what I was going to say.

Okay, I say, and you know what I would, I kind of agree with that, Like call the game the same as you would if there's nineteen minutes on the clock or you know, a half a second, nineteen seconds left on the clock. But in like that situation where it's a thirty point game and there's no way, like the game is already determined at this point, I mean, come on, you can.

Let that go.

You guys talked about a high school controversy yesterday on KSR, a lane violation when the what was it, the tying free throw went in or the winning free throw for a high school team, and you know that had no.

You know, impact on the actual free throw.

But the rule of the law is, you know, you're you got to call that and somebody runs in from the three point.

A little different situation when it's you know, a tie game where it's close. But I'm talking about when it's a thirty point game, Sure you're calling a foul with a half a second left.

It's like let it.

Go now lane violation on the final free throw in a thirty thirty one point game, that would be another argument as well.

Yeah, let's take another call. Who do we got out?

Go to Mike? Hey Mike, Hey Mike.

What's up?

Good good morning. I just want to say it. I was really happy last night over the over the game. Who was the guy that Tom was talking bet on his shell this morning? That was really color rand? Was that Colin?

I think it was?

Yeah, Colin Chandler. Who had what do you have last night? Eleven points?

Eleven points played with confidence? Yeah, three threes? I think he had.

So I mean, if that's a guy that you can if that's a guy all of a sudden that you can now depend on to get you five or six points in a game, I mean, that's a that's a huge bonus.

You know.

But before we the last few games, I didn't know that we would really see any of Colin Chandler.

Eighteen productive minutes from him last night.

Well that's great, that's great, and help them good luck to him and hope they hope they'll surprise his Saturday and do good.

Yep, thanks for the calling, Mike, were appreciate it. I don't know really what to expect of that Missouri game. I mean, it is on the road, so it's going to be tough. But Missouri, you know, they beat Alabama at home and then they turn around and lose to Arkansas. So and you know in Arkansas is hard to figure out.

You know.

They they had fourteen points against South Carolina at halftime and then go on the road to beat.

Vandy last night.

Score what ninety plus? Yeah, ninety five last night. Yeah, it's ninety to seventy seven.

They won.

Uh, we will look back at this SEC as one of the best of all time.

There's no doubt. Let's take another call.

Who's next, dude, it's John Short.

Good morning, John, Johnny, Good morning.

All great Americans.

You're a great American.

Ray. When we had last night, we're losing the Ana City University and thinking was a tiger, thinking the fighting Tigers and beat the fighting Tigers.

Last night, Tigers beat the Tigers. That's right, we be Yeah, it was good.

We lost.

We lost to the Tigers, the Auburn Tigers, and then they beat the LSU Tigers.

John, Yeah, the l s U Fighting Tigers. So now if she's not the Tigers said there, I think they're there, fighting tigers. But were good win we had anybody and good way we had in baseball too, Yesterdade, and were will win the day in baseball we got to do well. Wasn't that we needed to score twenty resident like we heard like we heard what happened last night.

That's right, John, I think we need to see. We need to see all those runs by Kentucky against Eku today.

That'd be great, that really be great.

And the LSU Tigers, you caught him the fighting tigers. They didn't have a whole lot of fight last night. John, So maybe we should call him like the cowardly Tigers last night.

You like that, John, Yep, yep.

And beat Missouri but tim beggins, and we're gonna winning AHC tournament and tournament ruins the men's basketball. And then since we're gonna play Missouri Saturday, tell me, let's play Missouri Walls. This is gonna beat Misseri.

Let's play Missouri Walls the Missouri Tigers. John, So, three games in a row.

He wants me. He wants me to play the Missouri Waltz I'll look that up.

We'll play that coming into the next break, just for you, John, Okay.

All right, there you go. You're good.

We'll play that. But we're also three tigers in a row, Shannon, Is that right?

Does that check out?

Auburn, yahsu Missouri, Missouri.

Then there you go, Tigers, Tigers and till we call us the Tiger King by the end of Saturday eighth two two eight seven. I do want to mention some UK women's players. Clara Strack won the SEC Defensive Player of the Year yesterday, but also she was named to the SEC Second Team, while Georgia Aymore was named the First Team All SEC.

So some well deserved honors for those players.

Shannon Yeap looking forward to seeing what they can do in the tournament. They're a little bit ahead of the men's schedule, so hopefully they can make some noise. What are they going to be a four seed?

They are four seed.

They will play on Friday, I believe around three pm or two thirty. Kenny Brooks and Kentucky women's team have twenty two wins this year. Kyra Elzy had twenty four wins over the past two years. Wow, it's a big Jump for UK and Kenny Brooks and Kenny Brooks stop by Poppy's Mexican restaurant yesterday to say hello to Marcus Marcos and celebrate Taco Week.

Shitty how about that?

Yeah, you're just making that up yet?

No, I'm not making it up.

They posted it on their socials, on their Instagram and and I'm not sure if it was on their TikTok, but check out their TikTok account. They have millions of views over there at the Poppies TikTok account. And it is Taco week. Get some unique tacos at all three locations here in Lexington, whether it be the Palomar Fountains in Chevy Chase above Charlie Brown's or Poppy's Rapido on South Broadway. You can also get two for one Margarita's every day this week.

From eleven to five. So what a time it is to celebrate.

Not only is it March, it's the best time of the year for college basketball, but it's Taco Week and you.

Could get two for one Margarita's.

Also, remember kids eat free every Wednesday, so that's today, so make it a family night. Take your kids to get some authentic Mexican food at Poppy's Mexican restaurant, and who knows, you might see Kenny Brooks or Mark Pope there, Shannon, I'm not guaranteeing that.

Yeah, yeah, I don't guarantee it.

It doesn't come with your meal like you don't you know, they don't roll out Mark Pope or Kinney Brooks for your Yeah, don't get it.

Twisted like you're not getting steak faheta with Pope.

I will say, though, it would be a big improvement from my raw ma noodles that I'm eating right now during the break, So bring me some poppies.

We'll evolve you from cup of noodle to poppies. Yes, and we'll be right back. We have got one segment to go here on the case.

I appreciate.

For Josh come back, Yeah, Missouri Waltz, Johnny Cash.

Right, it is.

Yeah, maybe not the most exciting song.

No, it's not gonna pump me up.

No, not many Johnny Cash songs will, but there's something to it though.

I do like it.

And apologies to everybody on the podcast. They just listen in silence, that's right. One thing before we get to the phones, because we've got some loaded lines here. The Mavericks are cursed as a franchise.

Shannon.

I don't know if you've seen what happened with them this week, but on Monday they announced that they were increasing season tickets prices by eight point six percent, which was going over smoothly as you can imagine. But then that night Kyrie Irving towards a c L.

We'll talk about that. Everything's about timing.

Same day.

Yeah, if you've got leverage, you can maybe get away with that a little bit, you know, But your guys tears his a CL.

That's not good timing.

You trade away the franchise player for pennies, and then your next player tears his ACL the same day you raise season ticket prices. It reminds me of Kentucky launching their nil initiative the day that they lost to Vanderbilt.

Yeah, here, give us money so we can get better players, so we don't lose to Vanderbilt in football.

Oh that hurt. Wow, that hurts so bad. All right, let's take some calls. Who's next next?

Peanut?

Hey, peanut, Hey, you guys, matter of picking Triship on the highway day for so I can. But it's windy, so I'll beg it's snappy. Okay, yeah, Billy was right. Man. Time we go to lunch and when they're a public so we go in there and get that chicken chicken tender sub. It's not life changing, but it is amazing. It is really good. They'll take like six chicken tenders and cut them up right in front of you. They'll slader on some buffalo sauce if you want, or barbecue or hot honey or whatever you want. And it is really good. And they have the sub of the day is always on sale. So when you get the chicken sub, I'll sale you don't good.

There you go, Shannon, Peanut sounds like a veteran.

The chicken tenders is describing sounds good. It's where you add in the bread that kind of throws it off from me. Like you know, if you say you're gonna get me buffalo chicken tenders, that sounds amazing. I don't need two pieces of bread around the tenders, which to me makes it weirdy bread.

Little spicy Mayo. I know you're big mayo guys, Shannon, so ain't indulging that.

No God anything else.

Peanut, Now it's an awesome game. I was good to see Channel getting doing some things and I look forward to the tournament.

Go cut yep, thanks for the call.

Pinot, Yeah, thank you, peenaut.

Now, realistically, how much of an impact is Colin Chandler going to have in postseason play? Shannon, do you feel like this is just more of a couple of game thing for him or does he need to be a reliable player on this team.

I mean, he's got to step up like everybody on the bench. But again, like I said, if he gives you like five six points a game, that's kind of found money at that point that you get Colin Chandler, who really wasn't giving you anything earlier in the year. Now, you know, just get a little bit like I was saying, like with Travis Perriock when he was playing, he didn't have to go out there and score fifteen or twenty points for you, but just don't give us zeros. Give us something, Yeah, and then you feel better about your chances when you have everybody contributing a little bit to make up.

For the loss of Robinson.

Well to that point, a guy that had been giving out a lot of zeros as Ansley Almanor, and he had a great night six to seven from the field, three three pointers, fifteen points. If he can do that, that is a dimension that Kentucky needs. There's no doubt. Who's up next to JG Hey, JT.

Hey, guys, you're talking about Brandon Gearson. He really mind me of Jamal mcglore. He's a guy that he's working on his offensive game. But man, if there's any altercation, any extracurricular during the game, a push, a shove, whatever, he is right in the middle of it. And I think he brings a toughness that can benefit us down the road.

You need that.

Yeah, We've talked about needing an enforcer, and I don't know that he is quote unquote unenforcer, but he's probably the closest thing we got to one of those.

Well energy guy, right, I mean, you know, Lance Ware I felt like was more of an enforcer. He'd go forehead to forehead with you and make you get a technical. Garrison just brings an energy that can be infectious at times. And I felt like Kirk Crisa did the same, right. I mean, he always had that energy and I think that trickled out, but you know it feels like he's walking on thin.

Ice at times. You know what I mean though, JT.

Yeah, I do. We don't want to go too far, but I do think he brings a toughness, and you guys said, I think that brings an energy that kind of gets a team going at times when it's needed.

Thanks for the calle, JT.

We appreciate it.

Yeah, I mean, you got to have somebody like that, because we've talked about this team does not like contact. They do not like to be you know, bumped and you know, push her people around in the paint. Brandon Garrison brings.

A little bit of that.

Brandon Garrison as many threes as Kobe Brea last night? Yeah, almost the same amount attempted as well.

How many did Kobe shoot last night? Because seven?

He was two for seven and had six points total. Yeah, I still want him to shoot the ball more. I feel like we say that after every game. You know, if we're gonna shoot around thirty five, I would be fine if eleven or twelve are from Kobe Brea.

Yeah yeah, but what if the entire team is game planning for that? Well, I mean again, it goes to can you create your own shot? Which he really has trouble doing. But you got to find a way to get your best shooters open shots. I mean the other It's not like it's a secret. Like the other team knows Kobe Bray is your best shooter. They're gonna play, They're gonna double team them where they can and you know, try to extend their defense. You then have to counter that offensively and figure out how do we get him an open look.

Yep, he doesn't need a whole lot. The other thing, too, is the hesitation, Like we don't need any hesitation. When you get the ball in your hands, you have, you know, a shred of daylight. Let it fly.

Well, Jay Billis is still calling him the best shooter in college basketball.

So let it fly, Kobe. Uh, we got time for.

One more, one or two more. Let's go to David.

Hey, David, Hey, David.

How are you good?

Yep?

My condolence is to peanut dressed like a Tennessee fan picking up garbage today. Up, I don't mind the garrison foul. Earlier in the year, talks about how soft we were. Oklahoma is a little different, but last night they tried to punk us. He just show them we're not going to be punked. I appreciated the foul at the end of.

The game, Yeah, I was. I wasn't mad about the foul. I was mad about the refs calling the foul. Like, let it go.

You know, the game's over, it's thirty point game. Don't call a foul. He got some ball. Call it a strip yep.

I like the toughness and go cats.

Thanks for the call, David, all right, thank you very much. Yeah, let's get one more.

Yeah, real quick here before the end the show. Don you're gonna be our collar.

Yeah.

Uh, this is just more or less inform you guys. A few months ago, weeks ago, you're talking about no one having buffets. Well, there's some Mexican restaurant on the corner of Loudon and Broadway North Broadway in Lexington. They have a big sign up that says launch buffet daily till.

Three and so it's a Mexican buffet. Yeah, okay, usually only buffets. I go to Billy or like a pizza. Yeah, well, no, no, no, I don't go.

To Golden Corrale.

Get up early enough.

Golden corrals are nasty, man. They got too much there.

You know, you got the PE's that get somehow mixed into the mashed potatoes and the corns and the carrots.

It's just disgusting.

I'll go to a pizza bar, like pizza ranch, you know, and then maybe like a Chinese buffet.

That's about it.

I went to a barbecue buffet in Texas and got food poisoning. Yeah, by the table side baked beans.

Look, it's it's kind.

Of roulette up there, Like you gotta decide, like some of this stuff is going to get me food poisoning. I have to be smart enough to decide which ones won't, you know. So if I'm going to a Chinese buffet, I'm not eating everything on the buffet. I'm just gonna go like pick and choose based on what I think might not.

It's hard not to eat everything at the buffet though, sharing I mean, it's just right there waiting for you.

Thanks for the calle don.

Thank you appreciated it.

Let me tell you before we get out of here.
