Shannon The Dude and Billy Rutledge talk UK's loss to Auburn, ABC's feed going down, Alice Blue Gown's new single, and taking your calls.

Welcome everyone to another edition of the KSR pre Show. Today is Monday, March third. I'm Billy Rutlige along with Shannon the Dude. You can give us a call on the Clark's Pumping Shot phone line eight five nine two ah two two eight seven, text us at five O two two sixty five sixty six five six and is always The ksrpre Show is brought to you by ital X Fine Italian Dining right here in Lexington on Main Street, open for lunch and dinner. My co hosts Shannon the Dude. I'm hoping had some taffy after his trip to Gatlinburg over the weekend.

Good morning, dude, how are you man? Uh doing fun?

No taffy but plenty of moonshine. Do you ever go to those little moonshine tasting places?

Oh?

Yes, of course that in the wine tasting.

I think we I think we opened it up on Saturday. I think we were like the first people there. And when it's ten thirty in the morning and you're doing shots of moonshine, it's like, well, you know what, I don't do this every day. You know, when you're on vacation, you get to do stuff like that. It's a lot of fun, so plenty of moonshe no taffy though.

That's a good way to start the day at ten am.

Yeah, if that was on Sunday, you probably needed it after the Saturday that Kentucky had. But you know what, moonshine, little wine tasting, maybe you play a little putt putt golf, and then that's the Gatlinburg is the place where dreams come true.

It's one of those places where it's fun for about a day and a half and then after that it's like we already did this. We walked the strip, we looked at all the you know, trinkets and stuff that they have up and down there, and then after that, what do you do?

There's nothing left? So I think for a hiker or something like.

That, you know, yeah, I think Vegas has a little bit of that. I think it's like a weekend trip. And then after that, I mean you're spending a little bit too much time there.

Imagine if you'll live there.

Though.

We looked up like the population of Gatlinburg. What do you think that the Gatlinburg population. I'm gonna look it up again here while I'm asking you, I just want to see, like, cause you know that's one hundred percent of tourist town, right, So you know nobody wants to live in a tourist town where it's nothing but just people crowding your city and the same obnoxious peace you know, every single day. So what would you guess if you had to guess the population of of Gatlinburg.

Yeah, it's a place I don't know if you stay for an extended period time. You have to be a little crazy to live there. So I'm gonna I'm gonna go low number here. I'm kind of bad at these kind of games. Make maybe like seven to eight thousand, Shannon. I mean, that's doesn't seem like.

A lot at all.

But thirty seven hundred, oh okay, so even even less than what I thought, thirty seven hundred brave souls doing it day by day, Shannon, And any Taurus place that you live in, I'm sure it gets a little old seeing everybody come in and leave. But well, the other thing with those cabins too, like those like hairpin turns and crazy driveways, you got to get up and down.

I'm wondering, like when it snows, what do these people do? Like you just you.

Don't go to work, you take that ski lift, if you don't go anywhere.

Like you're I'm not going anywhere if there's any kind of ice on the roads with those because I mean the other thing is too you're way up on the mountain and there's nine times out of ten there are no guardrails or anything. So if you just keep going straight and you don't take that hard level, you're just gonna go right off a cliff.

That's true, talking about a real danger zone at that point. And the the you're jeep in the rubber duckies aren't gonna get any traction there. No Sunday morning, I went to Wild Eggs, had some good breakfast. Saw our guy Josiah working his first job there. Oh yeah, he's a hostess there and a food runner.

A hostess, No, he's a host whatever, same hostess as a lady.

Same thing as I apologize Josiah, but same thing.

Yes.

And I gotta tell you, Shannon, that place was packed. There's something about Sunday morning at Wild Eggs. It's where everybody wants to be. Maybe that's just breakfast joints in general. But I never worked a restaurant job and Sunday morning when I'm waiting to be seated, Shannon, I think I understood why, because I don't know if I could take it. Honestly, the the it's they say everybody should work a restaurant job, right, everybody should experience it at least once, so you understand like the importance of tipping, and I guess the behind the scenes of things, but I am not cut out for it, Shannon, and I realized on a busy Sunday morning.

Yeah, yeah, I've told you that, I, you know, once worked at a restaurant for about two and a half months and decided this is not for me.

But yeah, I mean, I have.

A very high appreciation for anybody that works in the service industry, just because it's it's tough. You know, you're trying to take care of so many people and there's you know, grumpy people that are hungry barking their orders at you, and then you got to try to go out and get their food and run it out to them at a reasonable time.

So it's it's tough.

Work working in that industry, and you're right, everybody should do it at least at least for a week, just to get an appreciation for how hard it actually is to be a server.

It's tough.

But I think maybe you know it was crowded there wild Eggs because everybody was there for that Ryan Lemon special. Right remember that commercial that he had. It's me with a side of tots.

Oh well remember that? All yeah?

Of course, of course I all I needed was the tots. But if you're telling me I get a side of Ryan Lemon, all well, and Ryan Lemmon will come sit on your lap and give you a new gie while.

You're eating your tots. Well, it was.

It was the best I could do to try to get myself to forget what happened on Saturday, a beatdown. Auburn, the number one team in the country, comes into Rup and wins for the first time since nineteen eighty eight. The Cats go down to the number one team in the country ninety four to seventy eight in a game that was never really a game, Shannon, that felt like Auburn started dominating early.

It wasn't a game because I didn't get to see it, and therefore it didn't happen.

It was not a game. You got that right.

Well, hopefully we have less technical difficulties than the ABC truck had over the weekend. That was probably the story of the game. Besides the beat down, a generator fire forces us to miss the final eleven minutes of the game.

Is that how much it was?

Dude?

It's twenty twenty five. How does that happen that we missed that much of a basketball game?

You had one job, ABC, We have one ABC game like every ten years, and you came in.

You screwed it up.

But I want to say to ABC, thank you because you saved me from having to watch that beatdown that ended up happening to the Cats.

You know, not only that there at the.

End, they you know, they clinched the SEC regular season championship, they're taking the belt, they're doing the proverbial beat down.

Yeah, celebration right there on Rupp's floor.

But yeah, the story is definitely ABC, Like, how do you screw that up?

So apparently there was a fire, right? Is that what it was?

Like? Somebody was smoking a cigarette out in the truck and it got caught him.

And now, no, it wasn't a cigarette. I don't well, I don't know if it was. I mean, I can't report.

That it wasn't, But I mean what happened.

I heard that it was a generator fire, reported that on the postgame, even though Matt thought that wasn't being reported yet, but it was. And I guess they just couldn't recover from that, Shannon. I think they got up back on with like maybe a minute left, minute and a half.

Yeah, but you know, Matt said this, Imagine if this was a close game.

Imagine if this was any any sort of close against the number one team in the country, it would be an uproar.

Shan, Well, let me ask you a question, no pun intended? Is that a fireable offense? Should you get fired if you catch the generator on fire and make I don't know how many people were watching, hundreds of thousands of people, let's say, uh, not able to finish the game.

On the big on the big stick too. Man, Like you said, this is ABC. The cat's not normally on ABC. And not only that, they just you know, they just had to throw on.

Hockey hockey man, Like, who's watching? I guess we were, we were watching.

Yeah, I guess here, let's force this sport on you that nobody likes.

Here's some hockey for you, because I.

Don't know.

It could be a fireable offense. Man, I don't know, I don't know. That was really really rough. I had never seen anything like that. But you know what, as as a couple of guys that have technical difficulties every now and then, I think we can relate to ABC and esp ON on this one.

I was joking that I think they used Ksr's equipment on those. You know, it's not not far from the truth.

Yeah, puty right about that. I mean you might be right.

You know, it felt like the game was over after that guy hit back to back banked in three pointiners.

Did it not?

Oh yeah, I mean even though it was like five minutes into the game. As a Kentucky fan, I think you realized when you saw that that it just wasn't Kentucky's day or whether it be seven possessions and six turnovers to start the second half for Kentucky, I mean, it was rough. It really was. They looked out of sorts. Jack Gibbons on the broadcast said that they looked rattled and at times didn't look like they knew what to do on offense. Shannon, this was really surprising because you know, at times Kentucky plays really well against top five competition, right, all the quad one wins that Kentucky has and at rep Arena on Saturday, it looked like they were out matched and outclassed by the Auburn Tiger.

Well, they did a good job defensively on Broom, you know, sort of had him rattled a little bit, right, and I think he got into foul trouble early.

But then you know, it is it what's the guy's name?

Is it?

Miles Miles Kelly?

Miles Kelly, who I think going in was averaging like eleven points, just went off like they had no answer for him.

Thirty averaging two threes a game. He hit nine, hit nine three pointers.

Man, And it's just it's hard to come back from that, right, I mean, it's good if a team hits nine three pointers, you let one guy go off and do that, there's really no coming back from that. But you know, like, did anybody expect them to win that game anyway? No?

So, so is it?

Uh?

I guess besides me picked Kentucky to win the game. By the way, make Billy the bad guy on this week? Can we talk about the group text?

Yeah?

Why not?

Because you know, originally I had picked Auburn but I saw everybody's uh texts coming in how they were picking Kentucky. And then I noticed that I had picked Auburn to win and you had picked Auburn to win. And I go, you know what, everybody this week has just been piling on old Billy our sports. So tell you what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna flip to Kentucky. That way, when the graphic comes out, Billy will have it, will be the only person picking Auburn to win this game. And I just did that just for my own amusement so I could. I could read the comment section after that post went out, and they killed me and yeah, and it did not disappoint No.

They killed me so because yeah, I mean not only I picked Auburn and win, I picked him to win by ten. I think Mario laughed at my pick after I sent it, so I wanted more tears on the post came Shannon, I did not get it, but no.

I listened to some of that postgame show.

You apologized, right, you apologized, I did you know what? You apologize on the pre show and you called her up and apologized, right.

Well, I reached out to her personally and apologized and then I also gave her the hotline number Shan so she could ever like to call in again. She doesn't have to wait behind Bob and Jamestown or the hundreds of other people trying to call in.

She can get in right away.

Let me tell you something, Heather, like that was a nice Heather is now an elite company because here's the thing, Like, when we were at the old studios, there were, you know, at first a few people that had the hot line, and then somehow I think those people shared the hot line with other people, because then I was getting hotline calls from people I didn't even know, how do you have the hot line number? So I feel like the hot line number got over shared at the old studios. But now in these new studios that we've been in for two or three years now, very very very few people have the hotline number. So I'm just saying, like she's in there with maybe Chester and God, I don't know, like, uh.

I haven't given it out once. I don't know that.

I don't know that anybody else even has it. Maybe Jack Gokey has it. Was was it that beat Usuki?

Yeah?

With Oakland yea yeah? And he called in for the part of my takedown. You're telling me he has the hotline.

He has it?

Uh Rick Patino has it because I think he called me on the hot line during the Barstool Sports takeover day. I mean thinking about that, think about that Heather Chester, Rick Patino and Goki.

And Stoops and called in for a postgame show recently.

So I mean Heather should be I mean that should really make her feel special, not mean yeah hot line.

This should this should put this argument in the grave after that gesture here by Billy our Sports. So hopefully we've we've put that behind us. Kentucky only hits four threes on the game and paired that along with what eighteen turnovers. It's it's a right for a disaster, but it felt like Kentucky lost twice in this one as Mark Pope announced the news after the game that Jackson Robinson would not be returning to the team. They are going to elect to have season ending risk surgery and that marks the end of Jackson Robinson playing time at Kentucky. This was his last year of eligibility, coming over for a beat from BYU, where he played I believe three years for Mark Pope and It's a sad end to the story, Shannon, because there were games where it was all Jackson Robinson, right, I mean early on, this guy was a huge focal point, averaging at least four threes a game before his injury, and now he will have to remain on the bench for the remainder of the season. This is a huge blow for Kentucky, Shannon, and.

It couldn't come at a worse time, as we just flipped over the calendar to March, going into the SEC tournament, NCAA tournament, and now you have, you know, one of your best players that's no longer available. So he Kerkkrisa. We still haven't heard anything about Crisa, by the way, but I think.

He's out for the year.

Two might as well be at this point point. But it's a yeah, it's a huge loss.

You know.

We thought maybe there was a chance that he could play a little bit. Didn't really expect Jackson Robinson to ever be one hundred percent before the end of the season, but thought maybe there was still a chance that he could go. And now we get that huge, unfortunate news that he is going to be out for the year. So it's gonna be tough. And that means guys off the bench, we're gonna have to step up again, Travis Perry, Trent Noah All, the Kobe Brea. It's gonna be it's gonna be tough going forward without Jackson Robinson for sure.

A guy that was known as like a coach on the court, right. I mean, this is somebody that knew Mark Pope's offense so well that he was translating the offense to the guys early on this year, and and somebody that had came through in the clutch many times. But Kentucky will have to play without him. Does that change your expectations for this team at all?

Shannon?

And we'll talk about bracketology seating for the SEC tournament probably in the next segment, But I mean overall, I mean, can Kentucky still go on a run without Jackson Rodney?

Can they? Are they likely to? In my opinion?

No?

I mean if you said going in we're one hundred percent healthy, where how far can this team go? I would say this team could possibly make a Final Four run without Jackson Robinson. I'm not saying it can't happen. I'm saying it likely won't happen. But it could. It could, but I think that it's very very very small chance that that happens. So now I don't know.

Man.

I think if you make it to the Sweet sixteen with what you've got, I think that's a successful year. I hate to say that, But without Kerk Creesive, without Jackson Robinson. I mean this, this Kentucky team over the years has been riddle with injuries going.

There's been a lot of season ending injuries.

You're right.

I mean we go back to you know, Savvi or Wheeler and in the past, I feel like Planner fasciitis with Kellen Grady kind of doing this team one year.

It feels like there's always been at least.

One injury that has hung over the Cats. But you know what I mean, it's going to give other guys an opportunity to step up. And I think you know, if you looked at the Auburn game, this is a perfec way to put it.

You had five points from the bench.

Can't have that if you're not going to have Jackson Robinson, right, I mean, it has to be a combination of either Trent Noah, Travis Perry or Colin Chandler. One of those guys is gonna have to step up every single game, right, I mean, these starters are gonna have to play more minutes and a bench player is going to have to play well for Kentucky to play its best.

What we also know is that we have to have that fifteen to twenty from oh Way every game. You know, we talked about Kobe Braa being the most important guy. I mean I really probably I would say, oh Way is the guy that we kind of took for granted all those games that he was, you know, scoring fifteen to twenty points, and then when he you know, has a game where he scores two or four, you see how much this team misses him. So even though Koble struggled, Yeah, even though Kobe excuse me, Kube Brea had twenty one points, you still have to have that fifteen to twenty from Oway or is just not going to work.

A five nine two eight oh two two eight seven textas at five oh two two six, five six sixty five six. We'll talk a little bit about the bracketology and the outlook as we turn the calendar to March. Our first show here in the month of March it's the best sports month of the year, Shannon, so we can at least get excited for that. It was a beatdown on Saturday, but you know what, still a lot to look forward to. So we'll take some of your phone calls. We'll talk about the weekend and much more here on this Monday edition of the KAS Appreciate the generator catches on fire. And we missed the final eleven minutes of the Kentucky.

Game on Saturday.

Just bizarre, but as Shannon said, you know, kind of needed didn't want to see the rest of that game.

What if that had.

Happened at the very beginning of the game. Could you imagine that?

Imagine being the intern at the ABC affiliate here in Lexington taking calls. I mean people still call when that happens, right, Like that's I think you would not take calls like it's got to.

Be a nightmare. You have to pick up that phone.

It'll just keep ringing, It'll just keep ringing. Five two two six five six six five six is the text line. One person says, Billy would suck to work with, calling a host a hostess. I'm sorry, but I don't think I'm a bad coworker, Shannon, you're you've worked with me for seven plus years. Now, would you call me uh hard to work with?

No? No, no, no. You're a great hostess. You're a great co hostess. Oh, thank you. That's what you are on this show. I deserve that the co hostess.

Uh. Well.

Also, one person says this is going to be the worst year by record and postseason success that people are the happiest about in recent memory.

Would you agree with that, Shannon? Probably so yeah.

I mean, you know, if we had Kyla Perry back here and we had this record, we would not be happy. But with Mark Pope here being his first year and with the injuries and everything they just dealt with, plus all the quad one wins that he's gotten, top five wins, and I mean, the only the only thing that fans are really upset about is the Arkansas loss, which you want to talk about Arkansas. That's that's a real train wreck going on down there in Fayetteville. What they have fourteen points at halftime or something like that.

It was unbelievable.

It was unbelievably bad against the worst team in the SEC and really hurt their chances of making the NCAA tournament.

Yeah, so I mean that that right, there is a real train going on.

Well, yeah, it feels like our expectations have reverted back to the mean. I feel like, you know, when Pope first was hired, it was just have you know, make the second weekend of the NCAA tournament, and then you go and beat Duke and Gonzaga, and I think people say, you know, maybe you can go on a run, right, but injuries rear. It's ugly head. You have to play without Jackson Robinson. If there was a silver lining in the game Saturday, it's that Lamont Butler slowly is starting to get healthier. But Shannon, he had zero assists in the game. I mean, that's just goes to show you that they were just not clicking in this one and just and it just got away from him. Some other results from the weekend, you mentioned Arkansas getting waxed by South Carolina. Tennessee beats Alabama from a three at the buzzer. That helps Auburn clinch the regular season SEC title. Even though that was in Rocky Top, that was a good finish in a good game, Shannon, I turned on College Game Day, they were at Texas A and M Florida and Seth Greenberg was doing a Rubik's cube during one of the segments.

Oh really, I'm sorry I missed that. Yeah, did he solve it? No, No he did not.

He just gave it the old college try, I think is what they were doing. It is a joke, what that show has become. Florida ended up beating Texas A and M eighty nine to seventy, but College Game Day did announce Shannon that this weekend they won't be going to Kentucky Missouri. They won't be going to another highly contested game. They'll be going to Duke North Carolina once again.

This of course, they love themselves, some Duke North Carolina, some Cooper Flag, right, it doesn't matter.

I mean North Carolina. They're not going to make the tournament as of today. What a joke decision again by ESPN and College Game Day.

ESPN looks at it, as you know, Duke North Carolina is the greatest thing in college basketball. You know for years it has been. But is it this year? No, it's not, it's not at all. I don't even think that game is going to be competitive.

But go to Saint John's Marquette over the weekend. How buy into the Rick Betinos?

How about Ricky Pee becoming the first ever college coach to win what was it, five conference times with five different.

Teams, and he had the white suit on this weekend too. I don't know if he saw it.

I did.

I saw it, man, he was he was looking like old Rick again. You know, he's, what's seventy two years old? Right?

Is that? Right? Is he that?

And he still has that kind of fire, that kind of passion, and it doesn't seem to have dropped off a bit. You know, some coaches when they get in their older years, they you know, just don't have the success they used to when they were younger. Rick Patino hasn't missed a beat. He's really incredible. I think, whether you like the guy or not, he's the best coach in my lifetime.

I'll put that up against anybody. You know, like coach k.

Was great, but he stayed at Duke, you know, and for a guy like Patino to bounce around it and to have success at every college team that he has coached, is I mean, I don't know, is there another coach any we're close to that?

I don't think there is.

Well, it's impressive to do it in an age where a lot of his peers are retiring, right, I mean the coach k the Roy Williams, the Jim Bahines, the Tony Bennett's, the Jim Laernegez who are doing a mid season like this, they come from that same age that Ricky p is from. But he has adapted. But the verbage still sounds the same. If you listen to the clips from that Saint John's.

Dock, I mean, I get, yeah, exactly, That's what I'm talking about. He still has that fire. I mean, he made Iona a household name. For God's sake. You go to Iona and people were talking like they didn't even know that was a place that existed, you know, in college. But yeah, to be able to do that and then go to Saint John's and give them their first title since what was it eighty five or something.

Like that, I'm afraid Saint John's going to be making some noise this month. They are going to be a dangerous team in the NCAA tournament coming up, And you can bet on Saint John's on draft.

Lit Lallas, Blue Gown show too. Greatness on the way. We'll take a break and be right back here on the show. Before the show, it's the case.

I appreciate the sign the reasons A while you last.

I know that voice Little Shannon the dudes new single Helios, which we will keep in the podcast so you can listen to it. You've been getting any feedback over the weekend.

Dude, I have, and you know, I've been sort of overwhelmed with all the positive feedback. You know how social media is, man Like we said, it's the absolute worst, especially on Twitter. It's if you go to the comment section of any tweet, it's like where the most miserable people in the world hang out together. And it has just been one hundred percent positive, like no one said, to my surprise, no negative comments, which I guess now that I say that, now I'll get plenty of them that'll, you know, wow, knock me, knock me down at PEG or two. But I do want to say a big thanks to the thousands of you who have downloaded it, streamed it over the weekend, keep streaming in it.

We appreciate that.

And I will say, Billy, it is kind of cool to get people screenshots of them, you know, listening to it on their like in their car and it shows like the little logo on their their car display screen. That's really cool. So uh, big big thanks, you, big thank you to everybody. And then you know, another thing that's really cool is that now you can pull it up on like Instagram stories, you know, like can you add a song.

To your story? Yeah, like the Sounds ad.

You can now put an aalys Bluegun helios and that'll you can use that as like your clip for your kiss, for your TikTok, or your Facebook or your your Instagram, which is pretty cool.

Well, that's awesome, man, Congratulations. I'm really happy for you. It's made the playlist for me. So I'm looking forward to to more releases in the future. That's in the plans, right, that's in the Yeah.

Yeah, I think maybe we're gonna let this one, you know, sit out there for a couple of months, and then we'll follow it up with a follow up single.

I will tell you though, Billy.

Last night, I was trying to put together one of those lyric videos you know.

Oh yeah, yeah, you too.

Really popular, like where it's like, you know, you see all the lyrics pop up on the screen.

You know.

I don't have a manager or anybody doing this stuff for me. It's all me, you know, doing it myself and trying to learn on the fly, and it is the most tedious Pain in my butt project that I have done in a long time. So it's definitely a labor of love trying to put together these lyric videos.

It's it's not easy. Well, I think you're.

Gonna have to ask our guy Mario for some advice. You know, he can put those videos together in a matter of hours, in a matter.

Of about five hours.

But you know the other thing is too Like I was trying to go about it, you know, and use TikTok. You know, you go on TikTok and you can put a song on there and it'll show the captions, it'll pull them up as you're listening to the song. The only problem on TikTok is it only lets you use one minute.

It goes.

This song is only a license for one minute going, but it's my song. I am giving myself permission to use the entire song. Then I try to go over to Instagram and they have a three minute limit. The song's five minutes long, so I guess we need to write shorter songs. Well, but it wouldn't let me use my own song for the full length, which is when I.

See artists that have a song and they're posting it on TikTok. They may post three or four times a day of the just them doing random nonsense with the song on.

The background, just to promote it.

Right, So maybe you need to step up the talk game and just start posting three or four times a day with that sound.

Okay, all right, start promoting a little bit here.

You're my my agent agent and the acting side with movies. You could be maybe my music agent as well, you know, my manager that gets us gigs, negotiates our pay, and you know, promotes the songs.

Well, can I be invited backstage and enjoy the writer list before thee?

Yeah?

Yeah, you can't. You don't get to add anything to the rider.

But if there's anything that's on the rider that's already there, you can come back and you know.

I can't add champagne and no.

But you can eat cliffs thin Mint Girl Scout cookies that's on the rider, you know, and you can have a sip of my bourbon that I've ordered, you know, maybe maybe a piece of gum that's about it's maybe a little trell mix.

We'll throw that in there too.

Oh, thank you for being so generous with your rider. Yeah, a couple of things happened on TV over the weekend. I want to get your thoughts on I did not watch the Oscars last night.

I don't.

I'm sure you didn't either, even though it was going like your cup of tea. I also didn't watch the wrestling this weekend. What did John Cena do?

Shannon?

Okay, you'll have to explain this to me, because it took the internet by storm.

Okay, so I didn't watch it either.

Apparently it was their big pay per view I guess Elimination Chamber.

I think it was.

You know, John Cena has been a fan favorite in the WWE all the way back to whenever he got his start, I guess in the early two thousands. But he became so popular that it became I guess cool for fans to hate John Cena. You know, they would like in the middle of his matches, the crowd would go, let's go see, then they go see you no sucks, Let's go see and then seeing, uh sucks. So it'd be like, you know, part of the audience that just hated him, even though he was like this squeaky clean, you know, never give up kids type of.

Character, goes to show you and nothing has one hundred percent approval rating.

There you go, there you go. You're exactly right.

But then, after like all these years, I guess twenty five years of him being the this squeaky clean image, you know, the face of WWE, he turned his back on Cody Rhodes, the guy that I interviewed here in the studio just a few months ago, the champion, and he joined forces with another guy, you know, The Rock. Yeah, and Russell Mania is coming up, so I guess it's gonna be The Rock and John Cena. Now the hate it guys all of a sudden in WWE, and little.

Kids were crying.

There was like pictures of kids crying that John Cena turned his back on Cody Roads and joined forces with the Rock.

So oh, it was a big deal from everything I gathered from it. You know, the Rock did the throat slash. It kind of all happened in slow motion. Yeah, John Cena turns heel. Yeah, and we've got our very own heel here on the ksrpre show. So I'm sure you had had to appreciate it a little bit, right I did.

I did?

You know, John Cena many years ago got to start where OVW OVW. That's right, forty four hundred supers vot along with Cody Rhads. Think about that, two of the three guys in the ring had gotten their start right here in level at OVW, which is.

Kind of cool.

The look back to Shannon the dude with his single helios will come out into the ring and turn heel.

No, you know what, I don't think that's ever gonna happen. Although the art the art Runners, the outrunners who are in their forties just made it to AEW, so I guess it's never too late.

I'm rooting for them beating up trash cans in the locker room with the University of Omaha and they're great pregame prep talk or pep talk.

And one of the guys was actually there at OVW on Thursdays like, yeah, man, we talked about you on KSR. That was really cool. I was like, well, how did that even happen? How did you guys hook up with the Omaha basketball team. He's like, oh, we were just in the area and they booked us to come in. I go, what were you going to do if they didn't win the game? And go, yeah, that's a little awkward, he said quietly. Sneak out of the building and leave so good thing they want. And we had that great moment of them beating up a trash can in the in the locker.

Room with Well, maybe we should have them on the pre show. That'd be a fun interview on it would be.

That would be let's go to the phones eight five, nine, two, two eighty seven.

Who do we have it for?

All?

Right, let's go to Roger. Hey, Roger, Good morning, Roger. How are you?

I'm doing good?

Three quick things we have on our worst games and mediocre games, we have nobody in the paint on either end of the court for minutes at a time, and just exhaust me. The other things. I get so tired of seeing our tallest guys bring the ball down and throw it away or get it stolen from them, and the other thing. Butler's back, and I'm glad he is. We all talked about the knee having to have that point guard, so I would love to see him play point guard and stop driving to the basket and we're all drawing contact because he's just gonna get hurt, and then we're going to be in the NCAA without him. So those three things are just kind of being non at me lately, and some of our struggles is nobody in the paint. We give up on offensive rebounds. As soon as the balls in the air, we're running back to the other end of the court. And the big guys are not point guards. So I'd like to see them stop bringing it down. Everybody thinks it's cute when they do it and they drive to the basket all the way and it's like a great NBA move, but that's not they need from the team. We need offensive rebounds, and I'd like for them to get in there and set up some plays because when it works and they're passing in tight and you know you're seven foot you're at the rim, that's when you have your shot. I don't care that you can make a three point shot. We got other people to do that. But anyway, have a good night.

I appreciate it. Thank you, Roger. Yeah.

I mean, offensive rebounding has been a huge problem for this team all year. But I think you'll just have to get used to big guys bringing it up the court, you know, and Mark Poe's offense, Shannon, big guys at the top of the key is a big part of it, right.

I mean yeah, but it's talking about offensive rebound I mean they Okay, do I have my stats wrong here? Because Kentucky doubled Auburn and offensive rebounds in the game. Let's see, they got nineteen rebounds. So I don't know why we're complaining about offensive rebounds, probably because can tell you couldn't make a layup. I mean they rebounded Auburn forty five to twenty six. Okay, So I don't know. I don't think that rebounding is the problem here.

I don't know what game you're looking at. Well that's what it says right here.

I don't have that for my rebounding stats. But they did maybe abound from thirty eight to twenty three. Okay, Well, then maybe these stats are wrong. Google, I guess is wrong. Well, I'm looking at it right at or would you like to default? No, I mean I'm just looking at the stats. Maybe I got the wrong stats, but this is for the game, and this is what it's showing forty five twenty six, so they still out rebounded them, though they did out rebound them. And here's the other thing too, like I can't really verify that because I couldn't watch the game, so I'm just going off the stats that I'm looking at here I didn't see at the end of the game. Well, I mean, I think you look at the turnovers and the three point numbers. I mean, this is a team that was supposed to average thirty to thirty five threes attempted per game, and they had seventeen attempted, four made, and all four were made by Kobe Brant.

That just simply has to get better.

I don't know if we'll see a lot of philosophy change when it comes to like guys dribbling it up the court. But if Lamont continues to get healthier and healthier, that'd be a big gip that would go a long way of helping that issue.

Okay, you're still out rebounding them. Okay, here's the ESPN stats. Twelve to five yeah s per offensive rebounds. Yes, yeah, yes, that's correct. So the caller complaining about offensive rebounds, you more than doubled Auburn. The problem for me is again goes back to what happened to us. Shooting forty three is a game, No, it's not there. They took seventeen seventeen three point attempts. Yeah, you're and that's this team is not going to beat teams without shooting the three more four to threes seventeen attempts.

It's not going to work.

Pope said after the game they had very little defensive resistance, if any. They were beating UK on simple, simple actions. Shannon and Mark Pope also said he was going to burn his suit after the game.

Do you think he would do you?

Did you take that literally or do you think just very literally like the fans? What was it the sheriff that was burning jerseys in Kentucky a couple of years ago. I think Mark Pope went home and burned his suit the other night. I mean, he's just that passionate man. He takes it that seriously. Or do you think that would be a little bit of a waste of money.

I mean, Pope's not hurting for money. So if he took it home and.

Made a camp fire out of camp fire out of it, I wouldn't be surprised. Maybe you could have just thrown it in the truck with ABC.

Going on in there with him here, you guys was stopped after his press CONFI while.

You guys are burning down the ABC truck. Just go ahead and take my suit along with it.

I like that, just throw the suit on top.

Well.

Hey, another thing I like, Shannon that it is Taco Week here in Lexington for Poppies Mexican Restaurant. We had a lot of fun at Poppies at the Palmar Fountains location just recently, and now it is Taco Week and you can get unique tacos at all three locations here in Lexington. Would have be at that Palamar Fountains in Chevy Chase above Charlie Brown's or Poppy's Rappie Doo on South Broadway. They have extended happy hour all week from Monday to the Friday, from eleven to five. You can get two for one margaritas all week long. How can you beat that deal?

Poppies.

If you're looking for authentic Mexican food, is the place to go.

We had some.

Great margarita's maybe during and after the show a couple weeks ago, and cannot thank them enough for being a great sponsor.

So go check them out and get some.

Interesting and unique tacos all week long at Poppy's Mexican Restaurant. We'll take a break and be right back one segment to go here on the kosrpre Show. All right, welcome back, It's the KSUR pre Show, our final segment before I hand it off to Kentucky Sports Radio, who is in studio today. That's becoming more and more of a thing. Two things before we get to the phones here in our final segment, the Kentucky women's basketball team lost to South Carolina seventy eight to sixty six over the weekend. They are locked in for the four seed in the SEC tournament. It's the first time they've got in the double bye since twenty twenty in Greenville, South Carolina. Their first game will be Friday at two point thirty PM. Their opponent is still to be determined, but Shannon. The number one seed of the SEC women's basketball Tournament came down to a coin flip. South Carolina and Texas both had identical records and both of their one loss in the SEC was to each other. So it is twenty twenty five and we flipped a coin to say we got the number one seed.

I mean, come on, can we not dig a little deeper into the stats, like who had the better road record?

Or I mean, really a coin flip? Is that?

Like?

How far down do you have to go before we get to a coin flip? Apparently not very far.

Haven't we talked about in the past, like a mayor's race, coming down to a coin flip or something like that.

We did, but I thought like the rules were like if, like so many other things were a tie, like you have to go really far down the line before you get to a coin flip. So is it the case that maybe they had like identical records and so.

Is this it was they had the same SEC record And then the next was head to head and they had both won one game against each other and lost one game against you. Okay, so then we go to a coin flip after that and then flip after that. Yeah, so talk about dramatic coin flip.

That's really who won.

I believe it was South Carolina, Okay, but I gotta double check that, of course. And the other thing I wanted to mention to you is it was announced that Skype is shutting down in May of twenty twenty five.

I saw that.

Yeah, talk about fumbling the bag. Shannon. Skype was the video conferencing app until covid started, and Tom Hart told the world that Zoom was something that you needed to look out for, and Zoom has become what the billion, yea billions of dollar titan that it is today. Skype was purchased by Microsoft back in two thousand and three or twenty eleven for eight point three billion dollars.

How do you screw that up and let somebody else come in and do that better than you?

Like Skype, like you said, has been around for years.

They were way ahead of the game, and then somehow during COVID, people don't go to Skype, they go to Zoom, they go to maybe teams like you and are using right now as we look at each other, You're in Lexington, I'm in Louisville. But I just don't understand how Skype, Like, how can you screw that up?

At all time?

Bumble just talks about like your I mean, like how do you I just don't I don't I don't understand how you screw that up?

If your Skype.

Yeah, it seemed like they already had everything working when that all happened, So you know what, it just seemed like that should have been the.

Natural relation built for COVID.

Yeah, they were prepared for COVID, for COVID for twenty years, and then when it happens, everybody goes somewhere else because I guess they didn't market their brand or I mean, I'm not sure what the reason is why.

Three billion in twenty eleven and now closing in.

May of twenty five. Unbelievable. All right, let's take another call. Who's next. Let's go to Tom.

Hey, Tom, good morning. I been listening just a part of your show here. I just got it turns on and I thought several good points were made the three point shooting. I'll tell you to me, it's the defense these other teams are putting on us. We're getting a lot of pressure outside that line in every game of which we do not put the same type of pressure on We don't play in their face like everyone's playing us. Everyone is playing us in our face. And the defense is something that the other defenses is something I think with one of our big struggles for the year that has shut down a lot of our three point shooting. I believe a part of it. Another thing, I think the biggest problem is handling the ball. We throw the ball away. Some of our best players, some of the best ball handlers, are losing the ball. I don't want to understand it. I know I'm not out there with them. I know how athletic they are and how good they are, but that's that's a big problem. We lose the ball a lot in turnovers.

Thanks for the call, Tom, We appreciate, thank you.

There were some lazy passes, There's no doubt that's that's definitely become more of a thing. Lamont Butler five turnovers, I'm mari six. I think Oway had a couple as well, so that definitely has to be cleaned up.

I think teams also have just decided we are going to defend Kentucky from the perimeter out Like if you're going to beat us, you're going to beat us in the paint. You're not going to beat us with three point shots. We've seen that just from the sheer number of three point attempts that have has gone down in the last several games. The other thing is, too we really don't have a guy that can just create his own three point shot. You know, we have the run them off screens and you know, open up shots that way instead of a guy who can just you know, off the dribble create his own shot. And I think that's another problem with the three point attention.

And there may be a game plan against Kentucky to not get them looks from three, but somebody else has to hit a three throughout the course of a single game.

You know what I mean.

Kobe Bray can't do it himself. He was the only one to hit a three in this last one. We've got time for one more call. I think pick a ball. Paul is on the line. Good morning, Paul.

How are you?

What's going on? Fellow's good talk to you this morning. I read on KSR where Matt got extended for five years on the show. I'm taking you guys got five years extensions? That correct, I hope so?
