Hello, and welcome to the AFL Today Show. You're one stop shot for all things AFL. I'm your host, Leiam McCain, also known as the Stats Guy, and season twenty twenty five is almost here, which means AFL super Coach is almost here.
We've brought in the big guns.
Today, or maybe one big gun super coach expert Al Payton, Welcome out to.
The AFOL Today Show.
Lean, thanks for having me, Thanks for doing back on You've been on a few times, and just supercoachs right around the corner.
Yeah, yeah, it seems fart too close. We've got some actual matches now or pre season official games that we can watch, get some scores and start pulling out teams to pieces, I think is what's.
Yeah, exactly after the first PRACTI official practy last night, I've already changed my team a lot.
We've also got I'm going to call him super Coach nufy. He loves Supercoach enough. Let's just say, look, I had to shower today.
A bunch of a bunch of my hair fell out because I was just absolutely stressing I've changed I have to make to my super cooach.
Oh my god, the stress around this time. Is that the nerdiest thing I've ever said.
You've said some nerdiest stuff. I think Cricket Today Show shout out to that one. Why you say a few things on there. Yeah, we're going to cover a lot today, just whole thing super Coach. Forget about other news. Everything is related to super Coach, the love, the hate you get for a player when they're scoring one hundred or they score sixty, things like that.
So we're going to go through super Coach news. We're going to go through the.
Injuries that could genuinely take about half an hour show for it. What is going on out with these injuries?
Oh yeah, exactly. I'm looking at my TV. You'll see you already made changes like in this morning, and there's about five guys in there I have to take out. So that's absolutely yeah. I mean it's it's chaotic, but that's why we love it. Yep.
Absolutely, So we're going to go through injury chaos.
As I just said, some must haves, rookies who to avoid, players that we just will never ever again, never again. Is just we could go for a long time on that one as well. So let's get into it. Make sure you subscribe to our YouTube channel, AFL Today Show. Follow AFL Today. Are you on the socials leaders putting a lot of stuff up on there. We've got predictions coming out of the wise, We've got predictions everywhere, some big calls that we're getting roasted on every single day, which I absolutely love so rightly so rightly, so rightly so, and yeah, get around this wherever you get your podcasts. All right, Supercoach afi News, just some simple stuff to start with. If you're not familiar with the Super Coach AFOL season, it actually starts in round one after opening round. But al we've got the player of break evens and prices come into effect from the opening round.
Correct, that's right. So the teams are playing opening around that basically is a free hit for us. We can get to see them what they look like. You know some of these bombers from last night. You know, is CaCO going to do that again in opening round? Yes, let's lock him in or if you know, something bad happens, we've got chance to take him out and your teams are actually locked in for that first round one game. Richmond v. Carlton March thirteen. I think it is ye, and that's when the official scoring starts, so your actual head to head matches all these kinds of things. But as you said, the points that they score in opening round will be calculated into their prices and their break evens and their price changes, so that gives us a little bit of a heads up if someone a cheap player scores really well, where we kind of know that's going to be part of their first price change, so you know, maybe jump on perfect.
Yeah, so opening round, Ladie's cann be looking at who you're going to go for or last year kind of played me a bit dirty. I watched it.
I was watching Brodie Grundy just absolutely dominated and they didn't really live up to those HIGs.
For the rest of the year, so I got to really watch with caution.
Yes, yeh, Kitty Coleman, I remember last year as well. This year injured, but it's just the start of the season. Everybody, Oh, Kitty Coleman's chief, he's ready to go.
Ah, he's injured again. That's just brutal.
Talking about the new things in super because we've got a new flex position, which I know what it's all about, but how would you describe the flex position?
And yeah, I mean That is the biggest change in super coach probably for a while, that there's now an extra player. So instead of thirty and you scored, you've got thirty one. So if you're seeing your team on the screen, there right down the bottom, there's a position called flex. You can stick anybody in there. They can be a defender, of ruckman, forward, whatever. So it gives you an extra player in your team. And then the key thing that comes with that is that every week you'll have twenty three players on field, but only your best twenty two scores count. So really it's some insurance if you get a player subed oubt or laid out injured really early in the game. You know, some people are calling it the Tom Green rule. After last year I was injured about five minutes into the game against Sydney. I think it was only had five points, so that just kills your whole weekend. But this time that school would probably drop out not count to your weekly score. So there's some real keen. Super coaches are really trying to work there, you know, strategy thinking how can we use this? Can I get an extra ruckman in there? There's a few different ways people are playing it, so it'd be really interesting interesting to see how it plays out once the season starts. But yeah, I think it's a great innovation, that's great fun.
And who are you leaning towards in your flex position now? A bit of a random question out Yeah, yeah, yeah, Well it's tough.
Yeah, yeah it is.
I mean, at the moment, I think it's just the best rookie or cheap sort of cash care I can't fit in somewhere else. And we'll probably get to this, but there are some really good ones, especially in the midfield, even the ford line this year, especially if you're prepared to pay a little bit extra for someone like the largest artist, which all the last night scored really well. So maybe the flex is a way to just get that extra cash care in and get their scores on the field, because it's always annoying early in the year when that guy might be stuck on your bench. But then I think it will evolve as the season goes on, and then by the end of the season you want to have an extra gun scorer in there. So how we get to that way will be fascinating to see how people use it.
Absolutely, we used it a bit in in because BBL when we're doing cricket today and a few other things.
That was that was really good, but it was a bit tricky sometimes just to figure out the person that was in there. Yeah, it was good.
It was good to sort of use BBL was like a tester in a sense because like, yeah, we were new to it, trying to work out the best strategy for it. I think we were kind of getting there. So hopefully this this AFL season we can put it to good use. But stat's going I want to put it back on you are because this is the flex position.
Can you give me your best flex or the double cock that? Yeah? Yeah, there's not much week start of the table, that's for sure. I don't know how have I even done that? How was that on camera?
I was literally thinking about yesterday doing that to you, and you've done that to me, So there you go, play fair play. All right, that's enough of that, But enough of FLEXU. We don't want to see me flex again. Let's get into the injuries.
Now. This is the saddest time of the day.
How long we got You're right out, We've got I've written down what have I written out about?
Ten different injuries?
Yeah, and there's probably more that I haven't even written out, but super coach specific ones, a big one that was just even yesterday or day before or color Mills really cheap option three fifty seven thousand, I'm sure everyone had did you have him in your team?
And he's still there now, but yeah, I have to get him out.
Oh, it's just brutal. At the moment. We've got Jagger Smith.
All the Blues fans like, I don't like Carlton, but I would I wanted to see him play. I think, yeah, a lot of fans wanted to see him play, and he was just a lock, like he was that guy from the draft that you're.
Like, you gotta have him in your team. So that's been brutal.
Yeah, devastating. So out for the year after.
The Zach Butters, who I just found out last night it was going to be my must have but not anymore. So six forty eight thousand, very expensive. But he's going to miss at least the first couple of rounds.
Uncertain bit of me sauna, I think, yeah, yeah, going to have an arthroscope. So they're saying definitely will miss the first game and then not sure for how long after that. So yeah, you can't start him.
You can't start him.
And then the other one that I'm pretty sure everyone had two sixty nine thousand for Kitty Coleman was just an absolute steal. This is the last two seasons. I just wanted him in my team so badly. He's I could easily overage one hundred plus. Yeah, no good again and then a random and I had him there from the start. You're a Richmond Man, Josh GiB I still think maybe later in the season, but yeah, what are you thoughts on him?
Yeah, I mean, obviously he's had all these injuries early in his career and they are definitely not rushing him, so I think the latest is that maybe round five or six or something like that. So yeah, definitely they're taking the time with him, so you can't put him in your starting team. But yeah, I mean we do need rookies during the year, so he could be a handy one down the track. Sam Lawler as well, and I'm one draft pick. May he play Round one but probably not. Yeah, you're in the last contest of that. You know, it was a Monday morning game somewhere.
In w A.
I go to get hurt in the last in a minute of the game that was pretty brutal. After he really showed a lot. So yeah, I think he's another one that you'd probably have to rule out. Probably some slight silver lining if we can Countadas that is, Bailey Smith didn't play last night, so there's a bit of panic stations there nearly everyone's team, but along saying he will play back for opening round, and that's a good thing about opening round where we'll hopefully get a look at him there before super Cooatch sort of starts for real in round ones, So surely he'll be reading.
Surely he'll be playing. Everyone will have him on it.
The other one was you've got Sam Law, surely you can play with the broken. You don't need to draw, just use your hands, your legs.
A reverse hulb. Then we else, we've got Sam Flanders.
I think it was out at least the first round, or that you haven't confirmed that.
Yeah, I mean that's been a bit of a mystery, but yeah, he hasn't played really in all of the preseason, so yeah, I think it'd be too risky to pick.
Yeah.
Another one I was talking about with this with Alex because he's also got plant flash o fan fashion. Oh my god, I can't even say plants are fasci artists, which is Nick daycos six hundred and thirty one thousand. He's still in forty three percent of teams, but I don't know if I'm willing to take the risk on him with interrupted preces.
Well there was, yeah, that's the only thing. There was talk of that over sort of Christmas, and he was, you know, just on the bike for a couple of sessions there. But he's been back in full training for a few weeks. He looked fantastic in there sort of scratch match slight the other day. So we'll get to see him in the Amy series and he's going to be pretty hard to resist. I think it's just that he has the Round three boy, which is a really tricky one. Probably just don't want too many of those guys in your team, so maybe that's a reason to avoid him to start. But as you say, going to be plenty of teams, so if he gets off to an absolute fly out, it's going to be tough.
Not every I know exactly he's going to go up in price, but well, when I first made my team, like the first team off the rank, I did have him in but obviously concerned with that injury, and then the buy just kills you are I know, I know you get a look at him in the opening round, but I reckon he's one that maybe dips a little and then you jump on him in an ideal world.
Yeah, because people are like Perryman Houston, a few people are going.
Towards there's a few others from collingand but that Buyers.
He's got Geelong as well. But Smith Sydney, I mean Kellum Mills. I guess being out there maybe frees you up a little bit. But yeah, there's a lot of super coach relevant teams unfortunately or missing in the same week.
Yeah.
Right, that's enough of the negatives. We've talked about the injuries. Let's get into some positives and who you should picking your team. Mainly listen to al Leo and I just heard.
Yeah definitely not good.
Look yeah about that. We'll go start with this one must have. So when you're making your team, who's the first player you are picking.
I'll start with you.
Well, Klayton Oliver for me, when you see that price four hundred FI one thousand, that is for context, about two hundred thousand cheaper than he was last year. So obviously he had a bit of a year from hell last year. A lot of stuff going on off the field. He didn't have a preseason at all, which always makes it difficult, and then he had some injury niggles during the year as well. It's actually crazy that he played about twenty games in the end, but yeah, he's scoring. There was nowhere near what we're used to from him. He went about six years in a row averaging one hundred and twenty and from what we've seen in the preseason, I think he can get back to maybe not quite that high, but certainly well above what he's priced at. And he's an absolute steal in the midfield.
No, I like that, I think, yeah, that was one of my first picked as well.
He's just I don't I think he could do a few things off the field, and you're not sure what he's going to play every single game, but he can do really well this season.
Leo, Well, I've kind of taken your thunder a little. I didn't say this the other day.
Going with Harry Shechesel six hundred and thirty five thousand averaged one hundred and eighteen last season, and that includes a lot of time off half back if he's playing field full time. Midfield is very tasty.
I like that.
I think he can stay around that price, even go up by the end of season. So he's a must have number one defender at the moment.
Yeah, I reckon he could be up there like obviously him and Bond. You got Bonn up there, but him just behind Bond.
What do you reckon? Can he be in the top few?
Yeah? I mean's he's an interesting guy and I mean the bottom line, he's just so good and he'll score wherever he plays. So last year we know he played half back, and that is, especially in North Melbourne, a ticket to come every game, just the way they play. They love to share it around back there and get peper kickings and things like that. So he was scoring really well and then he moved into the midfield, where it's a little bit harder maybe, but it only took him a couple weeks to adjust and then he came home like an absolute steam. Training was scoring about one hundred and thirty I think average over his last month or so, and that included playing basically midfield half forward, which is yeah, we played this year.
That's only worried I have with Clarko sometimes putting him half forward, but when he was playing half forward, he was kicking a couple of exactly.
You can have real maximum impact with your possessions, you know, scoreboarding impact, which super coach, you know the formula really rewards at. So yeah, he's definitely locked into my defense.
Yep. I love this Supercoachho we get to talk about North my team.
So yeah.
The fact that mine must have is another North player, which I put it in last week, and I had Butters in that because I love Butters.
But he's going to be injured.
Tristan Sherry, the X man, the man with the helmet, second most in total points last season, which is unbelievable, most improved by an absolute mile in super Coach six hundred and forty five, nine hundred. Go oh, that's a bit steep. But I got Bond and him. I've just put them straight in my side because I think Ruck is just so important.
You've got gone. I think his mother Ruck the old setting, forget the set and forget Ruck. I just want them.
They're going to get one hundred and twenty every week, and I don't have to worry about it, hopefully fingers crossed.
But he's going to be the number one rucket North.
No, he gets so many hit outs to advantage, he gets clearances and hopefully you can hit the scoreboard as well.
He has tackles to the tackles.
I forgot about that.
Amazing, you know when you look at the stats, he's averaged last year seven point five texas a game, which is miles ahead of any other ruckman. So yeah, yeah, we know that's great for supercoat scoring. So if he's tapping it down and then just smashing the boat, he picks it up. Yeah, win win, yep.
No good call. Forgot about the tackle. He just does it all does it because he taps it to the opposition. It's like crap.
Yeah, well yeah, because that needs don't always get now. Look it is like another midfielder. Oh ye, that's what he is when given the DVP. I reckon yeah true true, igotb all right.
I think this is the most talked about, one of the most talked about years ever for rookies. So rookies, we had a lot of chat about North in the mustas. I think this is all mainly Essendon after last night's game. So who are you starting with for your rookie.
Yeah, I think it is the year of the Essendon rookie. Yeah, we all get sucked in by the first Amy game and you want to pick about six of them. But too so there's a lot of really great options there. And I did mention Elijah Statists. I think this is the year he gets a real go in the midfield. It's I think he's third season at AFO level. He's only played eleven senior games. Last year was the sub virtually every time he played, so still super cheap. But he's had an absolutely brilliant preseason. There's maybe a bit of an opening there with Dylan Shiill going down to half back. Darcy Parrish is injured. We're not sure when he'll be back, so I think to get at the start of the season, they'll let him in there and just see what he can do. And yeah, based on the preseason, I think he can deliver some really good scores for us.
He had like thirty one disposals team clear. I didn't think he had that. I know it's a pracking much, but I didn't think he had that in him just yet. He was just an absolute freak.
Do you have startists at the moment? I did bring him in this morning, Yeah, and.
Then someone will get thirty. Well, I'll bring like never it never was last night. There's a few other ones out there. Who you got another man?
Yes, I've gone Isaac CaCO one hundred and forty nine thousand. I love what I saw from him last night. Should have had five goals. Sammy Draper, you are disgraced, Absolutely disgrace kicking that through. He has an excellent job security forward position, like Essenon. They have no one else what maybe Alwyn Davey.
But especially string of being. I know he's not a small form, but it's another injured as well.
It's all gonna be cocko, isn't it down there? His scoring potential does concern me, But I think if he can just have that one sort of game like he had last night in the first hundred rounds, and.
I think this is like flex is so good for a player like he's the sort of guy who is never sure when do I put him on the field, when do I put him on the bench. In one game he'll do this and score, and then the next week he might not get the opportunities and he doesn't score so much, but having that lower score drop out just gives you the extra chance to put someone like this on and you breap the award when it does playoff.
I didn't think about that. The rookie.
Just chucked the rookie in the flex and then you don't have to worry about it too much if you want him on your bench or Yeah, I really like that. My one, this is Alex behind the camera is on this show. He'd be loving this one. Harvey lang Fort one hundred and eighty one thousand average one hundred and fifty two Super Coach points in the Coach's Talent League. That's just insane. I think he had twenty.
Five is the Coachs League AFL. No, of course it's not AFL, but that's even if you just have that.
I'll take that.
I'm just Devil's advocate.
Yeah, no, no, I think he had over one hundred and twenty five of the twenty nine games in that league. So just absolute star reck and he's going to be He's going to make immediate impact, I think, especially with the issues with Petrarca. Clariy obviously wasn't as good last year in Melbourne. They've lost a bit of depth. The last couple of seasons, they.
Have talked about trying to get some new blood through the midfield. I think our Mexico maybe spoke about how they were a little bit same same in there. Obviously they had one of the best midfields in the AFL, but you know, maybe the opposition figured them out a little bit. So maybe, you know, Trent Rivers coming in and trying to move some of these youngsters as well. So and if you look at him, he looks like he's just ready to go.
Oh, he looks he looks so good, so strong, like he's going to burst out the pack. So one hundred and eighty one thousand, I don't mind, because he's even you save twenty thousand and a few other other rookies. Actually, Trent Rivers you just mentioned. That's just I saw a few of your shows. Are the actual official super Coach show mentioning Trent Rivers.
I don't know which side of you're on on that, but I don't know about Trent Rivers.
Yeah, no, not one hundred percent convinced, but at least you could pick him in defense and maybe with meals going down, there's yeah, we might need someone around that price.
True, consider that price is just so annoying. That's going to annoy me.
Next one, this is love people. I've talking about this as well, cash cows. So obviously people that are pretty low in price that are going to make you lots of money. So cash cows here. Oh we've got some mail from ex player ol.
Yeah. So Lee Montagna is the new super coach ambassady this year, and we had him on the podcast last week and he dropped some male especially around the Saints. He obviously knows what's going on down there, and he mentioned a few of their youngsters and then when we see them play on the practice match on the weekend, it's tick all the guys that he mentioned. Max Hall's a real cheap in the forward line who played well. Angus Hasty played about three games last year but he looked really good. So there's a few options there, cheapies. And the one that I really love is Hugo Garcia two forty five thousand, because he played half a dozen games last year, a lot of those where as the little cameos where he just came on in the last quarter and it looked really good. But this year it looks like he's really moved up the picking order to get a regular start in the midfield. And he just is an absolute tackle machine, averages about ten or eleven tackles a game in the VFL. So you know you've sort of got that, you know, such a great base to work off for super coat scoring. So I really like what what Hugo can do for us. And yeah, he's actually sitting in my flex at.
The moment in your flex. Very nice.
That's actually say the same. There's a lot of Saints guys run around in my head. I think I've got Ari Shohlen Maker was given discussed on your show as well.
What are your what are your thoughts on him? Or is it a little bit more of a risk?
Yeah, I don't think. He didn't play in that practice match the weekends, so that's a little bit of alarm belt. So we'll see if he makes a team for maybe the Amy series.
I think I just like him because he can kick it. He looks amazing, that's all. Yeah, because he can kick it really far. What's your cash?
Galer?
Another North played Klin This is we don't talk about North as much at our normal show, but it really brings very super.
Coach elements, So I love it.
Caleb Daniel two hundred and sixty nine thousand, break even a fifty. There's just every indication possible that he will be North's number one distributor out of defense.
Yeah, he actually can kick and hit the target, and as you.
Mentioned, North, they love to chip it around back there and just rack up the points. So I think that's going to be a huge cash g and I wouldn't be surprised if he's for fifty five hundred.
Yeah, he could be the top scoring for this year in supercur genuinely genular. Yeah. I mean, because you look at that North defense, the guys I've had there last few years, we saw She's would do it before. Jack Zebel was.
Sebel was big areas, Yeah, Luke McDonald, Yeah.
Even Zach Fisher at times last year was doing it. So but we know that role. You can just really wrack up agc uses it so well. So yeah, yeah, plenty of opportunities to score and yeah, ridiculous pross.
Yeah, I'm very excited we've got the two HELMETMN run around. Terry and Daniel would be very excited. There's actually a bay I forgot babe forty nine. I think they all wear the helmets for Sherry, So now there's going to be more pig with helmets with Cale Daniels.
That'd be exciting. But I regret putting North in this run.
Yeah, we're already talking about it, which I saw in later in the s You're not too happy with it, but I'll get your opinion on it. Matt Flinn two hundred and sixty one thy nine hundred. If he is, I agree, the best rock option or the number one rock option for West Coast on they've got to break even of forty nine. He showed in past seasons where he's played the full season twenty twenty two and twenty twenty three average eighty four and eighty eight, and he was averaging around that four clearances per game. Can do a bit of everything, tip hit outs to advantage, but he has to play as that number one. If he plays that number one ruck, I think he's going to be my flex option.
Yeah yeah, well, well as you say, giving it tipping off the next segment here, but yeah, I just think that's still a big question mark. I guess we'll see the team so in round Wine if he's named as the ruck, you can probably go with it. But at the moment, I don't think West Coast is even sure who their ruck is because in all the preseason games it's been a bit of him, a bit of Bailey Williams. They've got a kid out to read that given some time in there as well. So and then you know, n always seems to just come off with a bit of a sore back or something. He said all these injury where he So, yeah, I'm very nervous about that. I think a lot of people are keen on him because if you could get a ruckman at that price, who is playing, that's amazing. But I'm just one hundred percent sure he's going to be the one.
No, that's fair, that is that is definitely fair. I'm just I think I'm just getting I like how he plays. I like any barges through the contest there. So that's a few cashcows. Maybe lean towards Garcia and Daniel and then we'll see how We'll see how you've done this.
I a host, don't worry about me. So who to avoid.
I'll start with you because we literally just talked about Matt Flynn. You're right, there's there's a few other options. I' you've got some lower rouck options.
Well, yeah, I think they're just a little bit of a warning on these really cheap rucks because we've got Flynn there, We've got Harry Boyd. A lot of people love him come over to Sint Kilda, absolutely dominated in the seam for last year when the Macgera medal. Now Saints have signed him as a backup R but he's playing all through the preseason because roand Marshall's not there. But just obviously it's a watch on teams if Marshall is back for round one, which they're saying he.
Will be Harry Boyce.
You don't I don't think Boyds. I'm not sure they play two rucks, so boy might not even be in the team. And I'm seeing Chupper Coats teams with Boyd on the field at R two. Yeah, I mean, what are you going to do if the teams come out for round one and he's not even there. So yeah, a bit of a watch on him. And then Liam Reed is an interesting one and Rio looks like he will play as their number one ruck with we know Sean Dares is injured again. Yep, but just don't know that he's got the scoring. Yeah him, he's played a couple of games. He played in the Indigenous horse Tares game last week and scored about fifty and he was rocking, you know, the main ruckman. Yeah, So I wouldn't want to be relying on that on field either. Maybe on your benches, okay, but yeah, just a little bit of a an alarm bells on some of these cheap rucks that I'm seeing people pick one or even two of them. You know, you think I could pick one at UR two and one in Flex and at least me all this money to spend somewhere else. Yep, but yeah, might not quite work out as well as people open.
No, I agree, And then we've gone this is that we're going to combine him who to avoid?
And then never again? Who are you never picking again? Out from last year or the even before.
We talked about it before the show started, and we all wanted to pick one guy, but I think Leo got into he can have him. But I just thought i'd mentioned Jordan Ridley, who looked really good again last night, and that like I'm looking in Harry Shecheezel as my top defender. Yep, my second defender. I'm still not sure. I've had quite a few guys go through. Yeah, I mean Sinclair and then he got injured. Yeah, Homes, but last night he wasn't so good, so he's got to buy. So I'm finding that difficult. And then you see really think, man, this guy's good, Like when he plays, he scores, but how long until he goes down?
Three weeks or four weeks?
Yeah, you just can't rely on him unfortunately.
Yeah.
I've had him a couple of times into you because you get sucked back in and then he goes down injured. So yeah, yeah, I think just avoid.
Yeah, fair enough, who are you avoiding? And never again I avoid my beloved James Cicily five and thirty two thousand. I just think he could play forward. Yeah.
Sam Mitchell has been very open about the fact that his role was going to change my game. He will probably start in defense, where he'll rack up the points. He plays that swingman position. I've even read that in some match simulation he's been playing on ball.
I know about that quick enough for that.
If I see James Sisley go to a center bounce, I might change my team. No, I won't do that, but I just think, yeah, because his role just worries me a little bit. Where he's going to play. If you're confident that he's like the third defender, then go for you? Do you just avoiding for me?
May if he plays on ball and just kills it in signific.
You probably do that next week in opening ground.
Yeah.
Actually, I hope he doesn't do that. Then I'll probably have to pick him and never again. I think we all agree on that. Yeah, I was beloved Tigers.
Jaden Short four hundred and forty two thousand. I think it was back to back years. I got sucked in by him, and there was in one preseason game he got like forty three disposals and everyone he.
Was opening around, you know, sort of traps. Last year. Yeah, he put up a massive space, right and you're just like, this is it.
He's like five hundred and thirty. He's going to be six hundred thousand by round three. He's dropped hundred jobs off.
I'm going to actually make a big call. We're going to get to a few more. But I reckon Tom Brown will be a higher price than jayde Shaw.
I don't mind Tom Brown.
Yeah, what do you think about that Tigers, man, I mean, I don't know if any Richment players are going to be over grand, but yeah, I just wouldn't be going near most Tigers really.
Maybe if there's a I'm cheap of the players, but even they're sort of thin on the ground at the moment too, So I'm just steering clear of all Richmond players really because you know, the theory I think is that you know, the boy is going to be in the back line a lot, so that's good for Jade and sure, but it was then there were a lot last year too, and exactly I'm not really sure why he's scoring really dropped off. So until I can kind of figure that out, I'm not prepared to go there.
Again.
I think the only Richmond I brought in just a sneaky Tom Lynch because he's breakay thirty and he gets injured.
Yeah it until he gets injured.
But like, if he kicks a couple of goals against your fifteen touches, he's going to go up in price. But that's still a little bit risky as well, because he's got brittle Barnes the flex.
Yeah, that's not about option. Actually, there we go. My avoid is Riley Sanders. We don't know if I agree with this.
Riley Sanders is three hundred and thirty nine thousand. I just think I'm unsure of his role and unsure of how Bevo will.
Coach this site.
As usual, we always talk about Bulldogs players getting Bevo Riley Sander. Sander's got beveredy been for a game, to be out for a game. I think you'll get more game time this year. But you've got Bond liber Richard stepped up last year. They've got Kennedy now on their list, so they need a fifth mid. Yeah, but that's the the fifth mid for three hundred and thirty nine thousand.
I don't know. I'm not that keen on him, and I just reckon Bever.
Oh he'll get He got nine eighty touches, not twenty, So you're out mate, Like, I just don't trust Bever.
Do we wait for Bever to be sacked to get him in a sacked Riley Stocks?
Yeah?
What do you reckon?
Yeah? I mean I love him as a player, Yeah, yeah, he just struck me as ago. He could be a classic super coach preseason teas where he dominated in the midfield. But you look at that game, Bond didn't play, Libert didn't play, So we really need to see their whole best midfield, and we're exactly seeing his fits into that.
Yeah, so that's why I'm avoiding and then never again.
This is a bit of a rogue one, but Matt Row five hundred and fifty thousand, I think every season, I just I think. I just love how he plays. I love how he just randomly eats grass. He's a strange guy. I just I love everything about him. He just shows glimpses of stardom even in preseason.
He always does.
But I think Anderson Miller they can score big, and he's just always going to stay around that hundred point mark or one hundred and five. I don't think he can go to that next level, which I want him to. Yeah, I'm a bit worried about him.
Matt Real absolutely killed me last year, super Coach, but he's currently my team, which is I mean, it only brought him in the other day and it's just playing around with his weather will stay there? I don't know, but I had a bit of a theory that maybe just the way that he plays, he always flies out of the gate in the first, you know, first six rounds of the seasons, true, and then I don't know if he just runs out of gas and he's cooked after that, that's unfortunately when everyone tries to bring him in in Super Coach. So maybe you get in and the Gold Coast drawer actually early is really good. They played West Coast in the first game, and his record against West Coast he's insane. Yeah, they've got Richmond a couple of weeks after that, so I could see a couple of really big scores for him early on and then maybe yeah, decide what to do with him starts to run out of puff.
Yeah, so still I still like him, Matron, but it's none of my Super Coast team at the moment. All Right, we've covered a lot already, but we're going to finish off sorry second last, we're going to finish off after that with this or that without But before that big call for Super Coach AFL twenty twenty five, we've got a couple in here.
You two have got two weeks, so very nice, ol. What are your big calls?
The first one I've got is that Naziah, Wangan and Miller will average one hundred and fifty and this year, I mean, I just love the way Na has played the first two years. He's improved, you know, twenty to thirty points on average each year, and you know, whether he make that huge jump again this year, but I think he can add another ten points to his average. There was a podcast I think over the preseason where braid Hill was interviewed and someone asks what's killed his game plan bringing the ball out of defense? And his answer was, give it to Naz and let him cook.
Oh, I love That's all hard to me.
That's just yeah, lock him in. Yeah, Briant user of the ball. Saints love to get it to him, and yeah, I can just see him going to another level this year.
Yeah, lovely. And you've got you've got another one there.
Well, then other one I had was I think Riley Sanders fits in this same boat, and I'm going to chuck Colby mkirchey in there Too's another one in defense who's you know, a bit of a tempting price we mentioned, you know, he's had that really nice role north in the past, but this year moving further up the ground. But I mean, I really love him as a player. I think there will be a patch during the year, maybe you know, a month where he goes on an absolute tear and averages you know under thirty. I just can't tell you when that's going to be, unfortunately, so it makes it very hard to pick him. And then we'll probably all jump on then and then you'll get moved somewhere else on the ground. Yeah, the problem with these guys. But yeah, he's he's an absolute gun. And yeah, I think we'll definitely be picking him next year, maybe in future years in Super Coach, but maybe not quite confident enough to do.
I really like, I think you're right, because he could have that month, but then he could randomly get a ninety or an eighty and then Barco plays in mid or wing or half.
He's very versatile, which is good for a team but not always.
Good for his development. Yeah, but yeah, exactly in Super Coach, we liked it, know exactly what they're going to do every week.
Yeah, and I love that I had him I've had in the last couple of years. I just love watching him play so very good. Average one hundred and fifteen dominant LEO.
What's your big call?
Well, my first big call Finn Callahan four hundred and forty one thousand. He's just been on the mind ever since he turned.
Millions seventeen million. He's going to be worth seventeen million in Supercoach, No, he's not.
I think he will be a top fifteen midfielder, so that's averaging around one hundred and five one hundred and ten by the end of the season. I think in terms of team wise, like for GWS, I think he could challenge Tom Green to be the best midfielder. Like he's he's going to be an a grade and I think he's going to break out a fewson go out of that team. So yes, and I think Callen Canelia they're going to be They're going to be strong for him, but they're just sort of a little bit on the way out. So yeah, I reckon Callahan will be become the guy for him and have a really strong Super Coach season.
I like it.
My other one, Blake Hardwick, this is random.
This is very random. Four hundred and six thousand. He will just have one hundred and fifty point game. What and fifty He will play forward at times and he will have like a six goal ten mark game where he goes at one hundred percent and he will somehow get he can do that. Maybe, yes, yeah, maybe, Now I'm saying to get Hardwick in your team. I just think he will have like a huge game because he has been playing forward in pre season, and I think they want to use that a bit more, like Mitchell wants to use.
That a little bit more, the versatility to play him back and forward. So just a little one to keep an eye on. Yeah, I love that, but like sorry, I like the first one. I like big Callahan top fifteen. But then it's a big call. Yeah, it's a big call.
There we go.
My big call is that Isaac Rankin will I'm going to say I'm going to up it even more one hundred and fifteen plus point. I think he's going to play a lot of midfield. Even when he goes forward. He knows how to kick a goal. Just please, don't get reported injured, don't hit someone, don't don't step on someone.
Just I just wanted to.
Stay healthy so they can keep going up in points, keep going up in value. I think he's going to be the number one forward in Super number one. Yep, I think so, because you've got all you got horn Francis Daniel Daniel, do you Reckon he could be.
Maybe yeah, oh yeah, no, definitely. I think a lot of it comes down to the midfield times. Just nervous how many midfields the Crows. James Peeling in my team at the moment. I think it's a really nice price, and you think it comes over from g GWS and he'll go straight in and play in the Crow's midfield. But when you think of how many guys they have to go through there, it might not be quite as much as I was hoping. So, and we haven't really seen them yet in the preseason with rank And played in the Indigenous Talk Stars game and I think it was ill. Yeah, their practice game last week, So I really want to see all of them together. But yeah, the potential is definitely there.
Yeah, yeah, that's might be cool. Come on record, just do it for us forward like, because I'm always wried about my forward line.
All right, We're going to finish off with this or that. We do this sometimes on the socials. I loves doing it. Actually, do want to read it out to give me you like doing these for the socials? So this or that on.
Super coachability, who you're picking Isaac Rankin or Jason Horn Francis.
This is a huge call this year because you could have seen teams with both and teams with neither, which is sort of where I am at the moment, just because there's so much value in the four line with the Germs, and it's actually quite a good crop of rookies in the four line this year too, with guys like CaCO and even Tom Lynch if you want to pick him. Sam Davidson from the Dogs.
I think he's a really good one.
So can you fit them in if I had to pick one of the two. I really like your call on Rankin and I have been running with this line of not picking Horn Francis all preseason, but I don't know if I'm going to make it the round one, to be honestly, it's so good. Yeah, I think I might have to pick you, But again it's a matter of how many midfielders what Adelaide had. But with Butters going out, yeah, I might have to capitulate.
Unfortunately, unfortunately, next one Max Holmes or Nas.
Yeah, No, we love Nas, but I like Holmes as well. It didn't do much in the PREKI game last night, but I wouldn't too orrid abot that. Yeah, he's going to be an abolute gun. But especially with Geelong having that really tricky early by and the Saints have a great fixture, they don't have a buy early on and the buye they have later on is that one where there's only the two teams, so it makes a bit easier. So yeah, I like to fit a few Saints in in my team, and yeah, he's definitely up there.
Yeah, I agree with that one. Harvey Langford or Finnish Sullivan.
We don't have another North player, can we?
Again?
And again, just where does he play? I think maybe he's going to come in on a wing, which is not necessarily ideal if we saw Clico slotting him at half back, you know, like he did with Cheesel and Colby then being very interested.
But I think Langford is to go for me nice and last one late and Oliva will Ascroft considering one was you must have.
Yeah, Will has been in and out of my team at different stages. I think, Yeah, great player, obviously one of the norms with better so that's not exactly a breaking inside. But again, tricky round three by. I just have to see how many of those guys you can pick. But yeah, I think he'll go really well. But Clari's and no Brainer.
Yeah, I love it beautiful.
Yeah, I think I agree with you on all of them. That's good. Hopefully you learned something from all here today. Maybe not from us too, but hopefully learned something from you.
I'm just putting in with Blake Hardwick in and a team.
If you're taking one thing from the show, which round is he going to get one when they're playing Richmond?
