Analysis you won’t hear anywhere else straight from Buffalo’s head coach prior to the Bills-Jaguars game in Week 9 in Jacksonville.

Gonna bring it up the real quick. I promise were real quick here. Hey, that's the way to fighting now, way to fighting out, hey, type margins. We talked about it during the week at halftime. Man, we made a justice coaching stands. A great job players, great job. Man. We're gonna work together, all right. A lot to learn from the two right. We every week, every week getting better. That's the mindset. Now. We're comfortable when it's tight, though I know that it's us us only we STACKI we stacked. Come on well, finding the way, finding the way every week. Camo Buffalo Bill, no overthinking, right, go play the ball. We'll play the football. An exciting time to be a Buffalo build in the same of the Buffalo builds. Welcome into Week nine of the Sean McDermott Show, presented by Connors and Ferris, your workers' comp attorneys. I'm Steve Tasker and as always I'm pleased to be joined by Sean McDermott, coach. Thanks so much for being here with us. Hey, you kept your perfect record off the bye week intact over the Miami you completed the season sweep of him. I'm glad I didn't jink you by bringing it up last week. Did you notice any change in your team coming off to buy Well, I don't know. You know, listen, Steve, I was thinking about you at halftime when it was three to three, because I know you did bring it up last week, and so I kind of just thought, if tasker Jinks does, I'm not gonna be happy. And anyway, we were able to pull one out, even though you did try and jinks us last week. But the guys coming off the by they were arrested. You know, we didn't play great in the first half and I didn't coach great, and so the second half I thought the players came out and executed at a high level. Yeah, you actually mentioned they got off to a slow start, but you caught fire in the second half. You had back to back touchdown drives of eighty and sixty nine yards, Miami got to score, got it to within six points, and then you responded with another fourteen play drive took six minutes off the clock, game clenching field field goal. Did you say anything at halftime to your team? What was your message that came out? He made some adjustments. I mean what it was alike at halftime, because it really was the tale of two halves in this game. I think its a combination of There was some intense conversations that I'll just call them at halftime, but more than anything, it was adjustments being made through communication from the staff to the players and again, and give the staff and players credit, they executed at a high level. And you know, when you're in those situations, I think sometimes it gets emotional, but at the end of the day, it's important that com breeds com and that you can make smart tactical adjustments in those situations. Yeah, you know, Josh had a really nice performance. He led the team in rushing yards, he had a rushing touchdown, and he threw for two forty nine and through for two touchdowns. He had a quarterback rating of over one hundred for the fifth consecutive game. It's the longest streak of that nature Enfranchise history. What is your I know Josh is put in the work, but what has your staff done to help him be so consistent of late? Well, he's got a great relationship ay with the other quarterbacks in our room that helped him prepare each week and then be the work he puts in. With Ken Dorsey and the preparation that Ken puts into into that room every week, and then Brian Davil does a great job calling the plays and dial them up. And you know, give Brian credit. We weren't finding a rhythm in the first half. You come out in the second half spend the dial even more to try and find that sweet spot, and Dave's dialed it up and got us into some things that got us into a rhythm and got Josh very comfortable. Yeah. On the other side of the ball, you guys held the Dolphins just two hundred and sixty two yards a total offense only ninety five yards in the second half. Your defense only got one sacked, but they forced two turnovers. Your defense was really successful in what seemed like a different formula than the first time you faced the Dolphins. Is that true A little bit, right? I mean, we just played them five Sequisco whatever it was, so we wanted to again change a little bit and evolve, and it looks like they did. I thought they came in in the first half with a good game plan and then we had to try and continue to play the chess match with them and change a little bit as well. So I think our players did a great job, Leslie Fraser. The defensive staff adjusted through the game again, and that's key to every game, not just this past game. Yeah, Jordan Poyer came up with his third interception of the season. He kind of sealed the game. And also Micah Hyde had a huge fumble recovery right before the half. Seems like every week these two guys forced to turnover or grab a fumble, do something. They always limit the big plays. What is it about these two and we can all see the production, but what is it behind the scenes that makes these two guys different than every other safety tandem in the league? Well, I you know, I really can't speak for the other safeties in the league, but what I can speak on is the process that Jordan and Michael use every week to prepare themselves to have that type of success. I mean, you should see their preparation Monday through Saturday, all the way up until game time when they're in the locker room before the game. They're always preparing themselves, preparing their bodies to play at a high level. And you've seen that over the first seven weeks of the seasons. At this point, you know, like you and I have talked about a lot in general, good defensive performance like offensive performance, but in this case, defensive performance seemed to start upfront. For you, guys like ed Oliver had a great game. He's only got credit for two tackles, including one for a loss. You got Matt Milan who had a huge hit when the game was tied in the third quarter. What do you say about your front seven in this defense and the way they played against the Fins. Yeah, that's really where it starts. It starts up front, both sides of the ball. What ed Oliver was able to do probably his best game as a pro, even though statistically you look at the stats sheet and you're going, well at just two tackles where he really didn't do much, But man, did he factor into the game. I like where how his game is evolving, and it's again credit to his preparation, the work he's put in with our defensive line coaches, and then the front seven is over all, the better they play, the better we play as a defense. Yeah all right, thanks coach. We're gonna catch up with you later in the show to get your final thoughts on the matchup with Jacksonville. We'll see it a little bit later in the show. The game plan is presented by Energy Marketing, the official energy supplier to the Buffalo Bills. Game preview is presented by independent ELM. You deserve the red shirt treatment, Matti glab here with this week's game preview. The five and two Buffalo Bills are heading to Jacksonville to take on the one and six Jaguars. Jacksonville rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence is still trying to get comfortable in the NFL as its team is averaging seventeen point six points per game, which ranks near the bottom of the NFL. They're passing in rushing offense rank in the middle of the pack, and when they get in the red zone, they score sixty four point seven percent of the time, good for twelve. James Robinson is their leading rusher, totaling four hundred and eighty two rushing yards through seven games. Robinson is also averaging five and a half yards per rush, which is fourth most amongst running backs. The Jaguars defense also ranks near the bottom, allowing twenty nine points per game. They're the worst in the NFL when it comes to takeaways, with only two so far this season. The Bill's defense on the other hand, has done the opposite. They're allowing a league glow sixty one point four passer rating to opposing quarterbacks. They're also the best defense in the NFL, allowing just fifteen point six points per game and two hundred and sixty nine total yards per game. Buffalo scoring offense is also the best in the NFL, averaging thirty two point seven points per game. They have a plus thirteen turnover differential, and their offensive line has allowed only eight sacks on Josh Allen, the least in the NFL. Allen has the third most touchdown so far this season with twenty and is one hundred and twelve career total touchdowns, and his first fifty starts are tied for third most ever by a quarterback in that span. Buffalo the series against Jacksonville with nine wins and eight losses. That's this week's game. Previume Steve back to you. Thanks, Maddie. Coach. You're gonna be facing a rookie head coach and a rookie quarterback in Jacksonville on Sunday. Tell me what's more challenging for you as a coach in your staff? Is it facing a quarterback you've never faced, or a head coach you've never faced. Probably a little bit of both. Finestly, I don't know that he's that Urban Meyers a rookie head coach. I wouldn't say that, but he definitely has a rookie head coach in the NFL. But he's won a ton of games. He knows how to win. He's obviously been successful at the college level for a long time and that's why he's gotten the opportunity he has in Jacksonville. And same could be said with Trevor Lawrence. Well decorated, highly decorated player in college, and like most rookie quarterbacks, there's gonna be ups and downs, and so you know we'll be challenged this week in Jacksonville, but I know we'll be up for the challenge. Yeah, let's talk about Trevor Lawrence for a minute. He was the unanimous number one prospect in the draft when the Jacksonville Jaguars took him first. Overall, he's got he's big, he plays from the pocket, he moves pretty well. Is there any other quarterback that you've seen, pasted or present that you kind of compare his skill set to the way he looks the way he throws the football. You know, I don't know. I just think overall, man, he looks like he's got all the tools that you need to be successful in this league at a high level and in a short amount of time. I mean you look at the size of strength and mobility, and then his release and accuracy for a young quarterback. Very impressive to this point. All right, thanks coach, good luck on Sunday. We're gonna be back next week to recap your game against Jacksonville and preview your Week ten matchup against the New York Jets. And to everybody at home, thanks for watching.
