Hey, that's a dominant effort. Man. Great job, boy. It is thanksgiving, man. I want everyone of you to know how how thankful I am for you. I'm thankful for you guys. Man, the work you put in. Listen to me now, the work you put in, the love you have for each other. How hard you guys play? Man. That doesn't happen everywhere. Man, I really appreciate that we've been down this road before. Right, We've been here before after a game like this, So you gotta embrace that humility piece of it, right, that humble and hungry approach. That's what wins games this time of year. Understand what's the statement? Understand what we want? You gotta keep stacking the show. Well, think finding the way. I don't know what every week? How? No overthinking? Right, go play the ball? What play some football? Exciting? I'm to be a Buffalo build on the fanom of the Buffalo Bills. Welcome into Week thirteen of the Sean McDermott Show, presented by Connors and Farris, your workers comp attorneys. I'm Steve Tasker, and as always I'm pleased to be joined by Sean McDermott, head coach of the Bills coach, thanks for being here. Tough loss last week, but you come back with a dominant performance in New Orleans on Thanksgiving. Your postgame speech, you stress the importance of being humble and hungry. It's important in this time of year. Why do you think humility has an added importance and your push for the playoffs. Well, it's a week to week league, as you know, Steve, and I think we've had our challenges a little bit with handling a game like that or a margin of victory like that. So I wanted to get out in front of it and address our team and get them back as soon as possible mentally for the challenge ahead. Your offense showed up in a big way three hundred and sixty one total yards, thirty one points. Twenty one of those points came in the second half. Brian Dabole got the offense in rhythm with back to back touchdown drives and put the game out of reach. And it seems like the success in the third quarter has been a theme for your offense all year. Why is that? Well, I think again give Brian credit and the offensive staff the adjustments that they make at halftime, the player's ability to go out and execute in a very calm way, in poised way I think has been critical to our successful offense. Now, Josh threw for two hundred and sixty yards four touchdowns. It was his sixth career game with four more touchdown passes. Only Brady and Rogers have had more four touchdown games over the last two years. He also completed a career high eighty two percent of his passes, But with all those positives, he still had two interceptions. How do you coach Josh to keep him aggressive but still eliminate those turnovers? Yeah, I mean it's always a challenge, right, You're always trying to play flawless football, perfect football. Unfortunately, the game isn't perfect the game that we coach and play. That said, taking care of the football is an important element to playing winning football, as you said, and Josh is in pretty good company with the two names you mentioned after his in terms of those quarterbacks, so he's only going to continue to get better. Clearly understands how important it is to take care of the football. We've had our struggles with that and it's been shared. It just hasn't been Josh. As you know, a lot goes into executing a play, and if one guy doesn't do his job, that play can break down. So we've got to continue to work on our level of execution, our detail, and those small margins that lead to high level of execution. Yeah, Josh connected with Dawson Knox for two tds, one of which came on fourth down. That's his second multi touchdown game this season. Speaking about Dawson, and he continues to lead all the tight ends with seven touchdowns on the year. You're now tenant though when he scores a touchdown. Do you think there's a correlation between him scoring and the team winning. There might be. There may be a habit forming right now, So we'll have to put make sure we get that in the game plan going forward and make sure we get him the ball now. Also, one of your other players, Jordan Porler, had his fifth interception of the year, tying his career high and keeping him on pace to have the best year of his career, at least statistically. Now, he's been vocal about the changes he's made off the field. What do you think has led him to have such a great year. Well, that certainly has helped. I would say it hasn't hurt right, when you watch a young man developed the way he lives his life off the field, like Jordan has illustrated and documented over the last year. Fun to watch then and gives you great joy to watch the production then on the field. And a lot of times those correlate, those go hand in hand, so it's been fun to watch. Yeah, your defensive line was also a huge difference maker against the Saints. Mario Addison had a sack and that huge fourth down stop, And you can't mention that fourth down without mentioning at Oliver and the impact he had. What did you think about the way your defensive line played as a group on Thanksgiving? Yeah, they were a force to be reckoned with and we need that every week. Losing Trey White is big for us, and so what happens with that is other position groups have to step up, including the offense as well in special teams to help us replace a player like Trey White. Well, you mentioned Trey, he was having an other great year. He's been obviously a leader on this team for as long as he's been here. How if you can fill that void not only on the field, but also the kind of guy he is in the locker? Room. Yeah, we'll miss Trey. We'll miss him both on and off the field. And he's got such a kind of electric personality to him, the way he lights up a room and what he carries onto the field, the energy he brings with him. So we're gonna miss that, but we've got other players that can step in and are expected to step up and raise their game as well. All right, thanks, coach. We're gonna catch up with you a little later in the show to get your final thoughts on your upcoming matchup with New England. The game plan is presented by Energy Mark, the official energy supplier to the Buffalo Bills. Game preview is presented by Independent Elf. You deserve the red Shared treatment Mattie Glad Here with Week thirteen's game preview. It's a battle for first place in the AFC East. With a win, the Bills will take ownership of first place, but with a loss, they will fall in the rankings. This game is big, but the Monday Night football stage only makes it bigger. This will be Buffalo's first night game at home with a full stadium since Week eight in twenty eighteen. New England is on a six game win streak and has been on a tear since Week seven. Over that span, they are the best in the league, averaging thirty five point two points per game and have scored on fifty eight point seven percent of their offensive drives. Rookie quarterback Mac Jones has completed passes at the third highest rate by connecting with his weapons seventy point three percent of the time. New England has also had a shutdown defense this year, as they're allowing the fewest points per game at fifteen point eight and have the most interceptions with nineteen. The Bills on the Patriots ranked closely in several categories on offense and defense, both tied for second with twenty five takeaways, and safety Jordan Poyer is right behind j. C. Jackson and ranked third with five interceptions. Right now, the Bills are scoring the second most points by averaging twenty nine point six a game, and quarterback Josh Allen has reached the end zone by air or on foot twenty eight total times, which is the second most out of all QBS. Buffalo's defense continues to limit teams like they have all seasons, allowing the fewest yards per game at two seventy five and allowing the lowest QB completion percentage at fifty seven point six percent. The New England Patriots lead the series with seventy six wins and forty five losses, but the Bills own a two game win streak against New England. That's this week's game preview, Steve, back to you. Thanks as always, Maddie. Coach. You're facing the Patriots for the first time this year in a game that is going to put the winner in first place in the division. How are you preparing mentally to play in a game of this magnitude. Well, all games are important, Steve, as you know, and I want to give you just coach talk here, but they are important. We want to continue to get better every week. And listen, we understand you know that they're in first place, the Patriots. They've played good football the course of the last six or seven weeks and they have not turned the ball over in Our execution level has to improve in order for us to have a chance. We expect a packed house and a great environment for football on Monday Night. Yeah. Last year in New England had their first losing season since the year two thousand, but they seem to be back to the Patriots of old. They've won their last six games. What's the biggest difference you've seen between this year's Patriots and last year's squad. Well, you start on the field with the roster changes started almost immediately through free agency and the money they spent through free agency to get the tight ends, to get Judon off the edge on the defensive side, and some of the other players that they acquired via free agency, and then what they did in the draft, specifically with Mac Jones. He's a good young quarterback, smart, can make all the throws. He's done a great job for him to this point, and it'll be a big challenge for our defense and our team. Thanks coach, good luck on Monday night. We're gonna be back next week to recap your game against the Patriots and preview your Week fourteen matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And everybody at home, thanks for watching.
