That's a great winner, man, great win. That's on right on, right back all the journey round. That's one. That's a great team win. Let's keep going. We want more. I'll think finding the way, find the way every week. Calolo Buffalo Bill, no overthinking. All right, go play football. We play some football. Exciting time to be a Buffalo build on the fan of the Buffalo builds. Welcome into another playoff edition of The Sean McDermott Show, presented by Connors and Ferris, your workers comp attorneys. I'm Steve Tasker and I'm pleased to be joined once again by Sean McDermott coach. You guys had a historic performance meeting the Patriots forty seven seventeen in front of a packed house here at home. How special was that night for you? And how did it feel to put on a show like that for Bill's Mafia. Yeah, incredible, Steve, And all the credit really goes to our players and the staff and the way they executed at such a high level, and the fans made for an unbelievable environment around the stadium, the parking lots on the way to the stadium that night, and there's just a memory that I'll never forget. This game is always going to be talked about as a historic performance. And you guys became the first team in NFL history, regular season or playoffs to not attempt a field goal or be forced to punt or commit a turnover in a game you had seven drives or scored seven touchdowns. What do you credit that level of execution too? Well, as you know, Steve, you go back to the preparation, a week of preparation. You know, it was consistent, it was focused and detailed, and that's really what leads to that level of execution, as you know, and that's what you saw in all three phases last week. Yeah, at the forefront of everything was your quarterback, Josh Allen. He became the first quarterback in NFL history to throw for over three hundred yards and five touchdowns and rushed for sixty yards in a playoff game. Has his approach to the playoffs changed this year? And if so, how do you think that fueled his record setting performance against the Patriots. Well, I believe, Steve, his approach overall has changed, not that it's changed drastically, but it's more evolved from last season to this season. His role as a leader on our football team has changed. His game under center has changed, and I think it'll continue if we're going about it the right way, It'll continue to change and evolve and hopefully continue to become more consistent and more performances Like you saw this past week. Josh kicked off the scoring with a touchdown pass to Dawson Knox on a ball he thought he was thrown away. Knox winds up as your leading receiver with five catches for eighty nine yards, has two touchdowns. How gratifying is it for you and your staff to watch Dawson develop into one of the top tight ends in the league. Yeah, extremely gratifying, Steve, when you look at developing players, young players at that, and a player that went through some ups and downs early in his career to come back put in the offseason he did, and now to come back and see it payoff on the field. What a great example that it is to all the young players behind. Yeah, and now also after coming on strong late in the season, Devin Singletary continued his improvement with one hundred yards from scrimmage. He had two first half touchdowns. Have you seen his approach changed down the stretch with his increased role in the offense. Well, I just think we're giving him opportunities to get into a rhythm. And you know, I was a running back, or for anyone that touches the ball, it's touches, it's getting into a rhythm. It's getting into a ladder. And then developing that rhythm with the offensive line. That symmetry that right now that we have working run in pass has been good for us. Okay, So the Patriots looked like they had a touchdown early on and then Mica Hide came out of nowhere for a diving interception. How much did that single play change the course of that game? Huge? That was a huge moment in the game. They were driving. We had just scored Evan the around midfield or just pass midfield, and the ball goes up and you're going, okay, we're not in great position, and then Mike it comes out of nowhere takes the ball away. Unbelievable playing in a real pivot moment of the game. Now, you've been in the playoffs a bunch in your tenure here in Buffalo, but that game was the first time experiencing a full crowd at home for a playoff game. Despite the weather, it was packed house and your team put on the show for the Mafia. How would you describe the bond between your team and the fans here in Buffalo. Well, I think that's unique to Buffalo, right. There's not a lot of connections like we have with our fan base around the NFL, and it's a unique place to live, it's a unique place to play. And you know this steep to put on that red, white and blue of the Buffalo Bills and the tradition, the history that we have here, it's special. Thanks coach. We're gonna catch up with you later in the show to get your final thoughts on your upcoming Divisional round matchup against the Chiefs. The game plan is presented by Energy Mark, the official energy supplier to the Buffalo Bills. Game preview is presented by Independent Melton. You deserve the red shirt treatment, Mattie glab here with this week's game preview. They meet again, the Bills and the Chiefs will dule it out in the playoffs for the second year in a row. The Bills weren't the only team to put up forty points or throw for five touchdowns in the first round of the playoffs. The Chiefs match that by beating the Steelers of forty two to twenty one. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes had a star studded performance, completing seventy seven percent of his passes for four hundred and forty yards with five passing touchdowns and one interception. The Chiefs finished the regular season with the third best offense, averaging three hundred and ninety six point eight total yards per game and twenty eight point two points per game, which ranked fourth. Stopping Travis Kelsey will be important because the tight end has seven games of at least one hundred yards in the postseason, which is the second most in the NFL. Kelsey also has eighty eight catches in the playoffs, which is the fifth most in NFL history. Tygreek Hill is another weapon the Bills defense must account for. He'll finish the regular season with one hundred and eleven catches, the third most in the NFL, for over twelve hundred receiving yards and nine touchdowns, which ranks top ten. Josh Allen had a performance to remember in the first round of the playoffs. Allen now has fourth playoff games with at least two hundred and fifty passing yards and fifty rushing yards, which is the most in NFL history. Buffalo's defense became the ninth defense since nineteen ninety to finish the season with the number one scoring total and past defense. The Bills will need a stellar performance again from all three phases because they'll be taking on a team who was a five game win streak at home in the postseason and is led by a head coach in Andy Reid who has eighteen playoff wins, which is the fourth most in NFL history. A win by Buffalo would snap a six game losing streak on the road in playoff contests. That's this week's game preview, Steve back to you, thanks as always, Maddie. Coach. You're facing the Chiefs for the second time this year in Kansas City. You guys had the big win there all the way back in Week five. What's it gonna take to replicate that performance this week in the playoffs. Well, it's gonna take a great week of preparation. Let's just start there, a consistent week of preparation and the focus and the detail that we've already talked about, and then you got to go out there and execute. We're gonna have to weather an unbelievable storm with the crowd at Arrowhead. They've won all five of their last playoff games at Arrowhead. And we're gonna go and play our style football, Buffalo Bill style football, taking a one play at a time. Yeah. And when you guys played the Chiefs earlier in the season, they were struggling a bit. Now they're coming off a forty two twenty one win against Pittsburgh. How different is this team, in particular the one you face three months ago when they weren't playing as well. Well, I think it doesn't surprise me, really, Steve and Andy Reid coach football team usually finds their way. They're playing extremely well in all three phases. They have speed, they have power, and they're coaching staff does a great job of putting them a position to us. It says, all right, coach. Thanks good luck this weekend against the Chiefs, And to everybody at home, thanks for watching. The Sean McDermott Show presented by Connors and Ferris and as always, Everybody Go. Bills.
