Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles transforms neighborhoods by bringing the community together to build affordable homes, provide critical home repairs and help families rebuild after natural disasters. They also help people access affordable loans, housing counseling, and down-payment assistance. They have been helping local fire victims for years and now, of course, many communities who lost everything in the devastating 2025 wildfires. I ask that you don't think that EVERYONE in the Palisades and Malibu are 'rich' and 'they don't need help' because MANY DESPERATELY NEED HELP. PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD: if you or someone you know lost their home, apartment, or their place got smoke damaged etc. If they were affected by the fires and are STILL STUCK due to insurance issues and financial issues, PLEASE HAVE THEM APPLY for assistance HERE
Habitat LA is about to kick off a massive 4-day REBUILD event in the Palisades with about 500+ volunteers. Hear all about it in this podcast with Lisa Foxx and Habitat LA's long time CEO Erin Rank (Lisa's boyfriend Eric, lost everything in the Pali fire where he grew up. The WHOLE TOWN devastated, his whole neighborhood by the Gelson's GONE) Lisa was only a Palisadian for 5 years, Eric was his WHOLE LIFE. His sweet neighbors hew grew up, so many seniors who lost EVERYTHING. It's been horribly life changing, but we are GRATEFUL for Habitat LA, to see all the good they are doing to truly be HANDS ON and help in so many ways.

For 35 years, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA) has helped people build strong, stable foundations for their futures. When disaster strikes, our commitment to rebuilding Los Angeles is even stronger.
From wildfires and floods to earthquakes and mudslides, disasters leave survivors facing more than the loss of their homes. Many are also burdened with overwhelming financial challenges. Habitat LA is here to help restore stability and hope, prioritizing support for low-income households that are uninsured, underinsured—those that are the most vulnerable.
Habitat Disaster Relief Services:
The Habitat LA Accelerator Fund:As an immediate step, we have launched the Accelerator Fund—flexible grants of up to $10,000 designed to remove barriers and help you get back home faster. These funds can cover needs that insurance and FEMA don’t, such as:

With Habitat, you can apply for a house, apply for repairs, volunteer, donate...BIG VOLUNTEER GROUPS are helpful!
They have ReStores...in Bellflower, Torrance and on Brea in LA...(like thrift stores but for home repairs, projects and decoration)
Nearly 18 months after the devastating January 2025 wildfires, about three in four Pacific Palisades survivors remain displaced, and many families who want to return home face financial barriers that could permanently price them out of the communities they have called home for decades. To help close that gap, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA) will bring hundreds of volunteers and partners together September 23–26 for a four-day Community Build through its ReBUILD LA initiative.
The effort comes as Habitat for Humanity International marks its 50th anniversary, celebrating five decades of bringing people together to build homes, strengthen communities and expand access to affordable homeownership.
Over the course of four days, more than 500 volunteers, local residents, corporate and civic leaders, entertainment and media partners, construction professionals and community organizations will come together to restore homes, neighborhoods and hope. Projects include rebuilding and repairing affected homes, landscaping, site clearing and broader community revitalization efforts.
