Conversations around eye health are being shaped by both modern pressures and rapid innovation. Among these advancements, procedures such as permanent eye-colour change are beginning to emerge - made possible by advances in surgical precision and reinforced by long-term
clinical outcomes. Dr Rob Daniel, an ophthalmologist and refractive surgeon with over two decades of experience, is the first surgeon in South Africa to receive specialised international training in FLAAK
(Femtosecond Laser-Assisted Annular Keratopigmentation). He chats to Leigh-Anne Williams about what this operation entails, debunks some of the myths and fears around permanent eye-colour change, and explains how people can protect their eyes in general.
