Each year a handful of aspiring AFL players have their dreams realised when they're drafted to an AFL club. Award winning journalist and GIANTS recruiter Emma Quayle introduces new draft classes, tells their stories and sees how they're settling into the club. It sounds like the fun stuff, but there were a lot of people to keep happy when the new club was choosing its name, colours and guernsey design. Meanwhile, a decision to set the club up like a US college campus played a huge part in creating its culture and building a lasting bond between the players, as the crucial hunt for a permanent home base began.

Midfielder Dylan Shiel has become the latest GIANT to speak with award-winning journalist Emma Quayle as part of her podcast series The Originals.

Speaking openly and honestly, Shiel retells what it was like to have joined the GIANTS as a 17-year-old preselection in the club's NEAFL year of 2011.

He details what it was like to miss the draft and to have been one what he calls 'The Original Originals' alongside the likes of Jeremy Cameron, Nathan Wilson, and Adam Treloar.

High flying defender Nick Haynes becomes the fifth inaugural GIANT to speak with award-winning journalist Emma Quayle.

Selected with pick 7 of the 2011 AFL Draft, Haynes talks to Quayle about the different route he took to the elite level.

After quitting the game as a teenager before returning to Football in 2010, Haynes quickly went from park footballer to professional impressing with the Frankston Bombers.

Haynes discusses what he did during his time away from the game and what reignited his passion for our great game. 

Since joining the GIANTS as a key forward, Haynes has switched ends and becoming one of the competition's best intercept marking defenders.

Haynes talks to Quayle about how he approaches each game and what inspires his brave acts in the backline every weekend.

One of the inaugural GIANTS, Mohr took a different path to the AFL, plying his trade with the Casey Scorpions in the VFL after being overlooked in a number of drafts.

The Tasmanian details how he was snapped up by the GIANTS using a rule that allowed the club to sign players who had previously nominated for the draft but had been overlooked. 

Mohr discusses what it was like to play in the GIANTS' first-ever game and first-ever win, and what it has been like to battle through two serious knee injuries.
