In episode one of The Originals, award-winning journalist Emma Quayle sits down with pick two of the 2011 National Draft, Stephen Coniglio.

The midfielder explains what it was like to move from Perth to Sydney as an 18-year-old and what it took to build the GIANTS culture.

Coniglio details the early years at the AFL's youngest club and how the playing group worked to turn themselves from easy beats to one of the most exciting and toughest sides in the competition.

He also touches on sacrificing a promising cricket career for the game he loves and battling through injuries in 2017.

Meanwhile, a decision to set the club up like a US college campus played a huge part in creating its culture and building a lasting bond between the players, as the crucial hunt for a permanent home base began.
