Apology

How do you make a meaningful apology? Don't just tell them you're sorry. Tell them what you're sorry for.

A love language minute. Here's Doctor Gary Chapman on making a meaningful apology.

Don't ever use the words I'm sorry alone. Tell them what you're sorry for. I'm sorry that I came home an hour and a half late, and we've missed the program. I know you really wanted to go. I'm sorry that I lost my temper and yelled at you. You see, if you only say I'm sorry, your spouse may well be thinking. You certainly are. Is there anything else you'd like to say? You say they read that as a character report. You think that you've apologized? Tell them what you're sorry for and don't ever add the words. But I'm sorry that I lost my temper and yelled at you. But if you had not done, then I would not have done. And now you're not apologizing. You're blaming them for your poor behavior.
