Wind down with Janet Kramer and I'm Heart Radio Podcast.
Okay, hi guys, hi girls, would you like to come in with what you just came in with? No, No, We're going to take a minute to process a process and everyone's safe and fine. Okay, all right, anything, Well, I have an update.
Okay, I don't know you're there.
I feel like I have to. I don't ever peer pressure you, but I feel like you have to because the amount of questions I'm getting and it's not even me right, okay, well, like inquiring minds, I'd like to know. Okay, Well, so I figured out why my scalp was a ching.
I want to know first of all, before you say it. Did a lot of people guess this zero? Wow, that's brot one DM. Did I get that one? Which is crazy and people are invested?
Yeah? Yes, So let's roll the tape back. So I went to started itching on December sixteenth, seventeenth is what I could trace it back to. It was because it was afore Allen's parents came in town for Christmas, and then I remember when they were here, I was like, God, I can't sap, scratching my head. So then I tracked back a little more okay. Uh Like, then I went to my dermatologist. She's like, I see nothing on your scalp. Your scalp as completely clear, no dan driff no, nothing like You're like, no lice nothing. I'm like, okay, don't have that. So then she's like, it could be you know, then I thought was scabies. Then we thought it was like you thought it was a lot of things. I thought it was a lot of things, a lot of dying. I need to google. Connected her with Nate and the text, and I said, for what it's worth, I need you to not google and Nate. I need her in as quickly as she can get in. Well, I'm pretty convinced. I thought I had MS too, which I didn't know. If you wanted to share that, I'm not going to like completely bust you, but you did.
She thought she had MS from the itchy scalpers all like that.
Have so many things like it's like my eyes are blurry. So then I started putting all the symptoms together, and all of them sure lead me to really bad things, which freaked me out. There's a positive to all of this. I just want to say there's a I'm really glad I went down this train because I didn't, I wouldn't have realized a few of mothers. She said, I'm going happening and I'll tell you which I had no idea about, which Nate thinks it's because of the baby. But anyways, okay, so itching, itching, itching, and then I go and to see Nate and your extensions out. I mean, hello, you switch shampoos, I mean everything, So trying to figure out what it was right, so, but mainly like the scalp was driving me nuts, so got on a bunch of supplements, YadA YadA. So then I have a birthday party for Jolie where it was her eighth birthday party, and they it's like this little mobile fairy thing and they come over and they do their hair, they do their makeup, and you missed it. It was really cute. I know, I saw it was cute. Love was sick, right, and then she gave it to the baby. Oh bummer. Sleep Lesson Nashville is the name of the game. That's the worst. Okay, I mean she I'm talking about But anyways, so you know, it's such a cute party. It was. The girls looked adorable, but the very end of the party, the lady goes, I have some bad news, and I was like, okay, like what's Like, what's wrong. She's like a few of the girls had lice, and I was like, oh, that's disgusting. I was like that is so gross. I was like ew who, like just kind of like a little judge.
I'm gonna pin this for a second.
And so I was like gross, Like who, I love your honesty because I was like, I know how you reacted, but I needed it's gross. Okay.
Can we go back to a few days before that? So you were judging, okay, I judging you.
It's it's gross. Life is gross.
Okay, okay, go ahead.
Like I'm not judging our child. I'm just saying like it's gross. I mean like, it's disgusting.
It is.
So I'm like, oh, gross, who and so because life is gross? And so she's like and I'm not going to name the other kids, but she's like she said a few kids and then like couldn't spit it out, and I'm like who. She's like Jollie and I was like, oh, I got it, okay. And so I like go upstairs, Uh, this is like after the party or whatever, and I'm like, baby, girl, have you know? And she's been itching but not crazy, you know, So I said to her, you know what's let me can I just look in your hair really fast? And then I saw some and I was like, like out of my skin crawling. The other mom's kid that had it too, we made an appointment to go together and uh, I wasn't actually going to bring jas, but I did because right before we left, I was like, baby, let me just check your hair really fast. And I looked and there was I saw one in there and I was like, get in the car immediately, please please put on this pod? Can pass? Please kindly get.
In the car.
I would like to hear. And I was like, and go. But I checked my hair. I was like, Alan, can you look through my hair? He's like, I don't see anything. So I'm like, this is just so strange. So when I go there, I'm like, well, I'm obviously going to get checked because I've been having crazy scalp itching. So lo and behold I head lice. That is why my sculf was it ching. So so did Jay, so did Jolie. But here's here's the like deep dive that I'm really happy with. Through all of this doing blood work and everything. Because I sat down with Nate. He was like, you are so hormonally messed up. He's like, your thyroid is awful. He's like, which is you're gonna probably if you don't get this, Like you'll start gaining weight because it's like the way your thyroid is working. He's like, it's it's the wrong way. He's like, so you'll start to gain weight. Your estrogen, your testosterone obviously, like I talked about last episode, is really low. And he goes and also he's like, you're you have an you're allergic to soy. And I'm like, oh my god. I was like, I had at a mommy the other night and I remember scratching, oh wow randomly. Now I have a soy a reaction allergy. Wow. So I cannot eat soy anymore, which is also pretty common postpartum. Really interesting, so soy and estrogen are linked. Ish, oh whoa, and so I I also I did the food sensitivity. I've been in the deep deep Yeah, and soy comes up for me too, And that sucks because we love like sushi, Asian anything. Yeah, we can slay sushi. Yeah, And I don't like soy sauce. Oh, I do. But the problem is is soy is in everything that I eat. And also the other thing too that I'm not allowed to eat anymore is munk fruit, which is in all my protein bars, which is in oh it's on my severe like I can never have it again. It's in all of my protein powders.
That's so random, and which is protein.
Which causes the gut, the leaky gut, all of that stuff. So now I've like deep dove and all that, and then like my cortisols are like super off. And he's like, I don't know how You're not like sleeping in a bed right now all day. He's like, you are, just like it's so bad. So I'm like, I'm so grateful that I went down this to like find this out. But the itching was the lice disgusting.
It's just so crazy. So rewind too, But how does the dermatologists find it?
Well, so I call her. She's like what what? She's like, I didn't see anything. I'm like, well they were there.
Rewind of four or five days before that, you know, obviously Emmy had been itching also. We talked about that on here. I was like, if you figure it out. Well, I got a call when we were working out from the nurse. This was days before it happened to her, and they were like, you need to come get Ramsey. She has lice. And I was like, oh my god, Emmy does have lice, like I've been looking, that's it. So we go. So that's where I go back to you were judging.
I'm not judging. I'm judging the lights.
And it's disgusting.
Is there a pr rep for life anyway?
And no one wants to talk about it because everyone has it, but no one else to talk about it because it's gross. But anyway, so I took Ramsey.
Either of you dealt with this before, because I know.
Amy had to deal Emmy. I got a call from the nurse for Emmy when she was probably in second or third grade, and I really freaked out then, like I literally was disgusting. But they told me neither. But they told me then how common it is and people just don't talk about it, you know. So so I Ramsey get her or whatever, and then we do this party and I'm like, dear lord, she's getting rechecked today because I'm like, she was around.
Everyone and newslash. So we texted all the moms and I was like, hey, just f yi, Joly had lice and a few other girls headlights. You should maybe get your dar checked. Everyone but two head lice that were at the party.
And it's probably Ramsey was probably one of them. But she had already had it.
So I would like to thank you Jesus for the congestion they kept me home from the party. Yeah, but they've already had it though, which is as wild. It's like they didn't get it from the party. Well I know, but right, wouldn't someone anyway? Yeah?
Oh yeah, but side note to all that, and he didn't have it, so I still haven't figured her out.
So you should do a food sensitive sensitivity test for her. Yeah, it's because it's it's very wild. Yeah, it does, and it ruins like postpartum were so susceptible because our immune is our immunity is down, our thyroids are taxed, our adrenal glands are taxed. Oh that's what you said. He's like, you, your adrenal glands are just like awful. So I'm on like fifty million different supplements. But he's like, it's only temporary for the eight next, like eight weeks until you get everything back up. Yes, I had to order.
Allt it all started coming in today.
Yeah, I was like fifteen to twenty supplements. But he's like, it's only for guys. He's changing my life. Yeah, like I have energy. I cannot wait for all of those things to start happening. It's happened, Like it's good. He's incredible. Yeah. So I mean it's just one of those things where you know, I'm glad I went down the rabbit hole. I'm glad. It was just the life for the scratching and hopefully everything else can kind of fall into place.
My favorite was the text from the other person that you were there with, because I was like, I just need to know if Jana has it, like she has to have it, and then the other person was like, she's crying, she's so happy.
I was really I was crying, Oh you're dying. I was like, thank you so much. So it was a funny thing because it was it was driving me mad.
And it's easily taken care of. Yes, So it's.
I'm just blown away that anyone else saw it before this well, because I said I got checked and it wasn't there, so then that's why I also, no one said.
But I mean I have checked Ramsey like two or three times. I was like, she does not have it. Nurse calls, and then as soon as they say she has lights, I look at her head. I'm like, oh there they are like, I don't know.
I got to be honest, I don't even think I know what I'm looking for.
Well, having said that, Ramsey didn't have it very long, but just.
Google it and look, I could not google anyway.
I actually it's like, you know you can tell.
But I will say, but that has been solved, mystery solved, and I will report back on all the supplements. But I will say when I was going through my severe list and then things that I shouldn't have, I was like, I don't know what to eat because I eat it's they're all on there.
I didn't do the food one sab same and.
It's my favorite to have almonds, avocado, eggs, eggs. I have all those butt eggs I get to eat and I don't eat meat. So I'm like, well, yeah, it's been something. So anyways, I'm over. We're back on that. But the scratching go get your head jacked. My dermatologist was like, I'm gonna either if I don't see anything, I'm going to have people go to an actual life place. And I'm like, that's best.
Well because of that comb. Yeah, I really think that that's it.
I wish you guys could see Catherine's hands because it looks like the comb is great. It's the key to really figuring that all the time. Now on ONOBA, this season is called life Lights Baby.
And hey, there are plenty moms out there that are like, yeah, I feel better because my kids had it too.
Exactly. All right, We're going to take a quick little lice break, and then we're going to get Adam on, who is an American country singer. He's got a song out called Ain't She. We're going to talk about touring, We're going to talk about soon to be dad life, and uh, we'll get a month, but let's first take a break.
What's up y'all? Hi?
Adam?
Wait, this is obviously your wife in the famous music video.
Well if she's in it, but that also might be Cassie Randolph because Colton and Cassie were in that video.
Oh that's that, so maybe well not to I love Cassie. I did a movie with Cassie. But now I'm just that just registered in my brain.
Sorry, no, it's funny you say that.
I actually texted Colton probably I don't know, three months ago and I was like, hey, man, what if we add one scene to this video and at the end, when you're walking out of the grocery store, you just walk out and you see you get in the car with Jordan or something. We just had one scene to the video because it didn't age well at all.
Yeah, well.
Age, Well neither does my book The Good Fight. So whatever with my ex husband, so you know his musical influences, John Mayer, and there was a few listed.
What do you see?
Yeah, your jobs. That's great, Adam. Than to bring that up, HI show that is wind down. How are you welcome to the story house, Adam. We're glad to have you, Adam. How long? How long were you grinding in Nashville?
Still currently grinding in Nashville?
If you tell me one year, I'm going to just get really no, not at all.
I was.
I mean I've been here for about ten years now, so everybody A common question and interviews is when was the moment that you made it or when did you know you made it? And my answer is always like I'm still waiting on it.
I don't know. I mean, it was like a constant, you know, it got a little bit better all the time. It's still doing it.
It's just been a constant, steady getting a little bit better every year. So there hasn't been like a just one thing that made it. It's just been kind of slowly grounded the whole time.
You know what, There is something so to that, because it's never at least when I was doing country radio or country music, you just never felt safe. You know. It's like why you want to you know, was obviously top three on the charts. Got the Boy was top three, but it's like, but then the next one would not do great. It would be like twenties thirties, and you're like not safe, it's over, everything's over. And then it's just you don't ever really get comfortable until you're that one percent. I guess that that's no matter what you put out, there is a number one, you know, and that's that's the hard piece because it's like you can never really get comfortable, which I think is a good thing, but also that's the struggle and the balance with doing what you love right. We would like to feel comfortable in my house, just I mean, I think I think everyone would love to be comfortable. But then it's like, then what are you striving for if you when you get comfortable? And I think that's the piece that I always remind myself of. It's like, all right, so when you have everything you want, you're always gonna want something more than that.
Yeah, I think that's been the biggest thing for me is just first of all, I mean this is I think we had songs on the radio about the same time because I had Famous That was twenty nineteen going into twenty I think I know we're on Serious XM at the same time at least I remember that.
But yeah, I think that.
And since then, so many people have been added and TikTok's been added, and there's just so much, so much music, so many faces on Instagram. It's really hard to you know, if you try to keep up with everybody, you're kind of in trouble. And so for me, I've just kind of leaned in on just trying to be Adam Doleiak, just trying to sound like Adam doliak and not chasing. You know, I feel like everybody's trying to sound like Morgan Wallin right now. I feel like everybody just kind of chases the next thing. And I think I realized a little while ago, like I.
Love what I do.
I'm really lucky to get to do what I do and only that, Like I make music and play music for a living and can make a good living and support my family, which is really cool. And when I started, that was the dream, right Like if I if I just told myself I was right where I am right now, when I started, i'd been like, sweet, that's great. So just leaning into that, and you're right, it's always it's hard to get comfy. And I agree with you, like we would love to feel completely comfort like we were in the one percent of Morgan Wallen or something, but that's just hard to do.
And so.
I think just taking it day by day and continuing to make music that I love and do things that I love has been the most important.
Thing for me.
And I kind of learned all that during COVID, which was a terrible thing but allowed me to actually slow down. I don't know about you guys, but I'm the type that just kind of never stops. I work, I work, I love working, but I never really slow down. And that let me do that and so I kind of learned a lot about myself in that and it's helped the last few years for sure.
And you have a baby on the way. Is it your first?
It's our first? I saw all of you have three? Is that is that right?
Yeah? Correct?
Yeah, so this is this is our first. She's due early in March, and yeah, any advice you guys want to get made.
Of time.
I actually just need her phone number directly because I'm the wife of the artist and so that's the piece where I need to we need to connect. I mean, and I will say, we'll give you some good advice. But I think once you have that baby too, how you do your career and you're gonna I mean, it's just your why becomes a totally totally different why, you know, and the purpose that you have is is uh, I'll say, how do I say this for me? Once I had kids, I'm like, Okay, this is not the most important thing anymore music or acting or it's like it's my kids, and your purpose kind of shifts a little bit, which is it's a weird it's it's a cool feeling, but it's it's definitely different.
Yeah, I feel like, obviously everybody I talked to right now, us having a kid comes up, and so everybody kind of gives you these little pieces of advice or these little slogans or things to be scared of. And so one thing I get a lot is, well, you know, it's normally guys, and I'm like, we'll get ready to have no time for yourself and that actually I think it's I think it's intended to scare me, but it actually kind of excites me. I mean, I feel like, I mean, I'm thirty five, and I've done a lot of played college baseball and then moved into the music world, and I've kind of done a lot of me things, right like, every my life has revolved around me for kind of long enough, if that makes sense, And so I'm actually a little bit excited for that flip and to have a different why and a different purpose and so and we haven't even had our child yet and I'm already feeling that.
So I know, I know it's coming, but I'm kind of excited about that.
I might but it's a boy.
Sure, yeah, it's a boy.
Yeah, okay, king best piece of advice you can give him as a new daddy.
Oh my gosh, that's so hard.
I'm like, I got a list. I think it's probably I just had a baby life's phone number.
I'm out of the baby stage. Mine are older, so mine has just shifted so much. You know, like if I go back to like baby stage, it's like, you know, sleep and you can you know, it's like all the obvious stuff. But gosh, the best advice I think is like getting so caught up in a single moment. Like it's like you, Kristen, were a little stressed earlier about something with your child, Like that will pass. It's just it's a moment. Look at the bigger picture. What is the bigger picture. What's the biggest goal for your children? That's one thing I've really just been having to learn. But that's kind of like a bigger.
Picture than like the d dat nights won't last, Like that will not last, Like that's over, that's not in my life.
Like my kids go to their rims on their own and they're in their rims. I'm like, all right, did anyone go to sleep or like good night, you know. I mean, it just changes so much.
Right, and as a new dad, I know, you're on the road probably a lot, and you're going off on tour and all those things. But the one thing that my fiance did for me that was just I thought was the sweetest, most incredible thing was because I had a C section, And even so, I think he would have still done this, but he would not let me get up in the middle of the night to feed the baby like I did a couple times, but like he was always like, you need you need rest, you need to you know, you're the mother, Like you need to have sleep and you need to be you know, be okay. And so the fact that he he did primarily the middle of the night shifts so that I could recover, I thought was like such a beautiful thing. So, yeah, yeah, that did not happen at my house for how long? You didn't almost in the entire time. I mean I'd get up a couple times. But I mean, why he was the mother Oh okay, yeah, because he's sleeping through the night. Now yeah, well yeah, now we're sleeping through the night. He's two months, almost three months, and now I was sleeping through the night, but sleep train. And my advice is really simple, maybe too simple. I don't have advice because I think God gives you the people that are meant for you specifically. So this little puzzle piece boy that's coming, you already know instinctually how to handle, what to do. My advice would just be to trust yourself, you gut, and each other. It's not as complicated as people love to make you feel. There's so many opinions, and I think I used. I started to get worn out. I was pregnant with our daughter. My husband his first single actually like went up the charts and he was gone gone, like right gone, and there was so much advice coming at me, and I'm like, all I know to do right now is kind of like hunker and just hear each other's heartbeat and try to figure this out. So I think you're already more than qualified. And I just hope you get to enjoy it because it does. I know everyone tells you goes fast. It's like crazy fast, and I'm trying to freeze the third one because I know better and it's still fast. Right, Wait, when do you go on tour? Adam?
Well, I was going to tell you guys. So we March, we were supposed to do in March, start we're supposed to start. We did our best to kind of schedule.
We originally had like six shows scheduled and then a six week break and then more shows after that. And something that's been really heavy on me and my wife's mind is just an actually hers is I was supposed to be on tour for the really up until the last week of her pregnancy kind of situation. And we actually, right before I hopped on this call, actually I announced that we are actually going to pick up the first six shows and move them to the back of the tour, and so the tour is actually going to start April twenty fifth in Boston now. And that was again just kind of being with her and us getting together and talking with it, something that just brought her a lot of peace knowing that I would be here, we won't have to worry about me being in Rootstown, Ohio and getting a call that she's going into labor.
Just that peace of mind of having that we actually just decided to do that and move the tour.
So just a good example of kind of making work still still work, but keeping family first. I think and so that's been kind of a big weight off of both of our shoulders.
So well, I'm buying all your songs because I just have that, like you're putting your marriage and your wife and all of that at peace, and just I just love that. Now I'm work will still be a fan.
Work will still be Yeah, and like you said, you can put it in there.
Yeah, they're getting rescheduled and they'll be better because I'll have my little buddy with me at the shows now, and so it'll it'll be it'll be a good time.
But yeah, it was. It was a big deep breath for her for sure.
Kristen. Does that make you a little bitter like angry and I ate bitter like little a little little angry angry, No, no it doesn't. We we're in the duo. So my husband's half of low Cash.
Yeah, I know your husband.
Yeah, I know he knows you, but I didn't know if you like you know. Yeah, here, I'm just KB. So I just kick at KB style. But we you know, those guys have been doing this for like twenty years. So we just there's two families, right, Like essentially I have two husbands and I have a wife. So there's just a lot of and and quite honestly, like Caitlin and I for a while, we're just having a lot of babies. Like it was like she has three, I have three, you know. And so I think for us, we've done the best we could do. I mean, Hindsight's twenty twenty, Adam, if we could really kick it for an afternoon, I would share a lot of stories with you. But I think you're just doing great. I mean I would say what you're doing is everything that needs to be done. I think this industry has a way of scooping you up and pushing you along. I think it has a way of making things look really shiny, and that can sometimes leave a lot of resentment and some hurt feelings behind. I think there's great places for therapy like Porter's Call and the Refuge Center for counseling if you need some deep dives into untangling some things. But I feel like we've kind of learned and loved at the same time. I think for me, I know too much about our industry because I worked for Big Machine.
Yeah, and so I can tell you do I sometimes I.
Know, But see I sometimes give too much grace when I should just dig my heels in and say stay with me. But I know what's important. Amen, And I couldn't. I would be livid if he left. Yeah, in the hospital, you know. Yeah. You also, oh, we had to go wrap up the Kane Brown tour. That's a huge opportunity.
Yeah. Yeah, And there's there's you know, the music industry is really the whole thing is just opinions and nobody's doing this. There's no correct answer for almost anything. So you know, there is something to be said for they have been grinding for a long time, and so when they do get a song that's running up the charts and they're getting these asks that they've always been wanting to do, that's a different situation.
You know, sometimes you have to go do that, but it is I can tell that you are.
You would love talking to my wife because she kind of can see it all from nothing's really shiny to her, right, it's all shiny to the hardest more so, but she can see right through it. And she's been really great for me in that and that's probably the reason that I'm able to just kind of calmly move shows and be like, you know what this is best for?
Well, you know what's the most important too. With that's like, that's you know, family is the most important piece, and without that, your career is not going to go to the lengths that it will because of your career can go away tomorrow anyway's career ken, but your family, it's like, that's those are the people you need to cherish. And yeah, it's just such a crazy lifestyle.
You know, like it's is it is not normal, and we forget about that right like it does seem normal to me or whoever it might be. It gets to the point where it's just normal and outside looking in, there's really nothing normal about it. And so she's always a good reminder of that. And also, I'm not you know, I didn't. I didn't get discovered on TikTok six months ago, and I'm going out on a headlining arena to work next week. You know, I've been around, I've seen the shiny bells and whistles. I've been in and out of bad record deals. I've kind of seen all of that. So I do know how it works and behind the scenes, and so that's made it a lot easier too, to really prioritize what needs to happen. Here and so it's it's been great, and like I said, I think it was a great decision for us.
Is Ain't She? Your newest song? One of your favorite songs to sing because it's about your lady?
A lot of my songs are about my lady. But I have actually not really gotten to sing it. That came out in.
January and we haven't been out on the road yet to play that song, so that's kind of going to be a new thing.
I do love that song, though.
I feel like that is the ultimate compliment as a guy. It's something I say all the time, ain't She? And I'm from Mississippi, so it kind of rolls off the.
Tongue a little bit.
But the ultimate compliment as a guy to me is just like to be at the bar with one of your buddies and your girlfriend's there too, and you look across the room and you're just kind of having a beer and you look over and you go, yeah, she's way too good for me, ain't she. That's like the ultimate compliment, I think, And so that's what we're all trying to find a girl we could say that about, and that's her for me.
So that's kind of where I cannot wait until March, because you are going to be it's going to be through the roof. It'll be that at times a gazillion once you see her move into that other season of life.
Yeah, it's already been that too a little bit, even just being pregnant. It's been fun to watch.
Yeah, I can tell you're just such an intuitive, like intentional guy. So I think it'll be really cool for you to sing that on stage. Well, you've got a baby in headphones.
Oh my god, there's nothing cuter in the entire world in a baby and nothing.
Yeah, babies all day, right, And do you plan on bringing him on the road, him and on the road, Yeah.
For sure, we have.
We've kind of already decided it. I mean, I guess you have to kind of wait and meet the guy and see how he does with it. But we've just seen we've seen a lot of people have babies and kind of hunk her down and not have lives afterwards, and we've kind of committed to not doing that. We want to just be as active as we can. We still want to take trips, even if they're not on tour, just just trips for us.
That kind of thing. So we are definitely going in with that mindset. Hopefully that'll stay the same, but that's that's the goal.
I think it will. We did that like I love and I are. I mean, we were gone all the time, and I think they.
Just know that.
Yeah I had I had a crib on our bus side, a second bus. Yeah, a little little baby crip for Jolie. That was fun.
That's definitely the goal for the next year is to get to the second bus. The second bush made no money.
Second guys, we're also single hands in on three everybody else. It was a fun year, but then that year I also made zero money. My second bus is always going to say it, but I was gonna let use it.
All the artists always want that second bus. And I'm coming from the management side, and I'm like, can we look at the money of the second bus?
It makes.
You guys, but nothing makes sense. We just have to soak up the living inside of the lives we're creating exactly, So what do you do with so Like, Okay, you're out on the road, how do you maintain the healthy relationship? Are you good at communicating? Like what would your what would your wife say? Is your best quality? And your worst quality I am.
I would say maybe a couple of years ago, communication would have been on the worst side of qualities.
I was not.
I'm a big I'm a romantic, which an intentional and that kind of thing that you were picking up on a little bit, which are some of my best qualities. But it also made me like, for the first couple of years, I didn't like to just directly communicate things. I would rather surprise you and pick you up, or I would rather make plans that you know, it all had to be kind of a little bit more grand for me to be excited about it. And McKinnon has definitely taught me communication. She is the most straightforward, honest, loyal person I've ever met in my entire life.
And she's been that way since our first date.
I mean, she was just straight out of the gate, blunt exactly who she was, and now that I know her, i'd get that she's always been that way, But I was not that way. I was kind of, you know, I was raised, always put a smile on, you know, just kind of be I was kind of the golden child a little bit, so I was supposed to be good at everything, even if things are going bad, just kind of keep the straight face going. And she has kind of brought the more real, honest side of me out, Like I enjoyed telling the truth these days. I used to be a little on the shady side, Like there's a lot of things that have changed about me, kind of growing up in that way that sometimes.
You're a baseball player, it's just part of the.
And I was like, well, I don' want to trace it back to Yeah, what else do I need to say? I mean, there's some baseball players are brutal, sometimes.
Brutal sometimes a podcast for another.
There are some good ones, but there are also some really bad ones. But that that has been kind of the whole thing for us, I mean, figuring that out again. Covid we had almost two years of time that we would just have never had because I was used to I had never dated a girl in the same city as me until I met McKennon.
Of course, I mean a little bit because I married one of you, So.
Yeah, I probably it probably was intentional. It was.
It was as much as I wanted to handle a relationship kind of and but also I was you know, I moved from Mississippi to Nashville, and so there was that, there was that thing. But again, two years of COVID, I had, I'm used to being gone every Wednesday night or Thursday morning, and I liked it that way. Right, there was the break I needed, and so this gave us time to actually dive into one another and see what was going to happen. I feel like COVID either broke relationships or made them better, and luckily it made us a lot closer. And it's kind of why you see the relationship you see today. But I had, I was I always tell Mac, I was like I was not ready to meet you for sure, Like I needed a couple of years to get to the point. So sorry, I wasn't there when we first said hello, but I eventually made it.
Well, y'all come. It is tricky though. It's like I watched in COVID, like the artist and artist couples fail first, right, like the artist and artist marriages. I mean, our country music really went through it. I was like, we really did, because we're all so used to living separate, and like, respectfully, we are ready for you to go on the road just as much as you probably are ready to go on the road. Right, so like we're all used to doing our own thing, and then all of a sudden, I remember by June of that year looking at Preston like do you need to get up on the counter and sing and shake your money maker? And I can just be down here in a crop top, like there's validation that you get every day out there that you're not getting here because you know the dice.
To me, it's so hard, the validation thing. Yeah, I have to I call it re entry when I get back home from the weekend. I actually started when the bus pulled back into the lot. I would I would take like ten minutes and just recenter my brain to like, Okay, for the last four days, you've been in a world where the whole entire thing around you, everybody out there either plays for you or works for you, or you know whatever. The fans are screaming at you, and they've been they're there for you, and you're about to walk into the house. And there were there were weekends where I would walk back home and be like, well, why aren't you excited to see me?
Like what's going on?
I had to like seriously after recenter, like no, no, no, you she's probably wondering why you're not excited to see her, Like, this is flipped. This is re entry back into normal life. That was a hard thing, and you don't even you don't even really realize it for a while. And I think the music being an artist will turn you into a complete if you like. It's set up to turn you into an asshole if you let it. I think, so being aware of it is really nice. So I'm that's what I always re Entry is kind of my thing when I get back home.
Yeah, I give an unofficial twenty four hours for him to come back, and I don't tell it's not guaranteed because I don't want to have to give it because then I'll get resentful, right right, But I'm trying to like, I'm like, here's your quin waw, here's some water, here's a bathroom with a flushing toilet. You know, people think your life is glamorous, but sometimes it's tricky out there.
Yeah, sometimes we haven't showered since we left, you know.
Yeah, and then you want us to be excited to see you. I want you to know you said that, stanky Adam, oh Adam, Well, thank you for coming on and just being authentic. Thank you for putting out amazing songs. You're going out on the road in April, right.

Well, no, we didn't put the teaser. They didn't put the teasers up. So I just asked for a teaser. So now I'm gonna now I'm gonna post about it. Okay. Yeah, So she's not a listener. No, all right with the candlestick. I know, same namesis some things, Yes, my love people that you talked to on planes. I talked with Sarah Gretzky this morning. What do you mean, oh, on the plane or you talk to you miss her on the plane because she was your non miss connection and it was funny were we both got asked to do a podcast. I know she did a podcast that I got asked to do a mom's podcast. It's awesome, and so I was like, hey, I was just checking in to see and she she was just so funny, and I said, I just feel like you're a good judge of character. I mean, you did pick Janna, and so it was cute. We were like, had a little moment. We need to get her on again. So she's so funny, get her on. But yes, okay, all things. Love you guys, I love you. Okay, bye bye bye
