INTRO: President Cyril Ramaphosa has defended his decision to appoint Andy Mothibi as the next National Director of Public Prosecutions. The appointment will take effect on the first of next month as the tenure of the current head Shamila Batohi comes to an end. Ramaphosa has appointed Mothibi despite the Advisory Panel which interviewed six candidates for the position indicating in its report that none was suitable. Ramaphosa is adamant that Mothibi has distinguished himself as an outstanding head of the Special Investigating Unit.

This after the United States announced its withdrawal from 66 multilateral organizations, 31 linked to the U.N. system that the U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio described as redundant in their scope, poorly run and that threaten the sovereignty, freedoms and general prosperity of the United States. The U.N. Chief, through his spokesperson, said all U.N. entities would go on with the implementation of their mandates as given by Member States.
