More is known about the moon than the ocean. That's according to marine scientist and Ushaka Marine World executive manager, Mrayke Musson. Recently they received enquiries about two interesting marine species which were found washed up on the beaches at Port Alfred and Richards Bay. One is a rocksucker, the other a salp. Musson elaborated on these two species. Dries Liebenberg reports

A chance encounter has led to a Durban police officer helping a homeless man get back on his feet. Constable Shiven Latchman met Siyabonga Phewa while on duty earlier this month. 22-year-old Phewa has been homeless since last year and was struggling to find a job, despite having an excellent academic record. Latchman shared Phewa's story on social media, which sparked an outpouring of support from South Africans. SABC's Taliesha Naidoo reports...

The World Wildlife Fund of South Africa's Black Rhino Range Expansion Project works with community landowners and state conservation agencies to increase the numbers of the black rhino population. Poaching largely dropped these from about 1-hundred thousand in the 1960's to fewer than 2- thousand 500 by the mid-1990's.
