A coalition of community organisations, NGOs and experts has presented a comprehensive plan for the eThekwini Municipality to start responding to climate change now. It's called The People's Plan for the Right to Housing in the Age of Climate Change. Work on the project began after the 2022 floods. The floods claimed 436 lives and caused about 17-billion rand worth of damage. The plan calls for residents to be involved in a rethink of the municipality's approach to climate change.
