Renee McBride's childhood seemed pretty typical, until the day she learned the shocking truth about her father, that he was not away working at the Cottee's Cordial farm as she had so proudly believed but instead serving time in prison. At six years of age, Renee was suddenly faced with the reality that her daddy was a murderer. Renee's mother was a teenage runaway who became pregnant not long before he was incarcerated for the murder of two men. 

Today Renee shares her experience processing this as a 6-year-old and beyond and reflecting on the dynamic of the relationship with her mother as a result. An incredible story and insight that you can dive much deeper into through her two books, The House of Lies and Unravelling Us.

When we take a moment to reflect on this it offers some perspective on how we might optimise the time we have left... Is our health span a priority and can we maximise our later years so we can feel and function as well as possible for as long as possible? We can't change the reality around chronological ageing, but we can influence our biological ageing with plenty of lifestyle choices and behaviours.

How Long Have We Got Left? | Craig Harper - 818

In a number of ways, Sage Monkman and I are like two peas in a pod. We're "meso" girls, in PH360 epigenetic terms, which means we share a cluster of similarities in our physical and behavioral traits. We've each experienced our own versions of trauma throughout life, aligning us even more. And we're both diagnosed with ADHD, which sparked this very conversation today. It stemmed from some recent banter between us as we aired our frustrations, leaned on each other for support and understanding, and shared some tips for tackling why the simple often appears so complex for gals like us.

In true ADHD fashion, we didn't stay on track with this topic. But we did explore our ideas around self-management, labels, medication, mindset, and a hearty dollop of woo-woo—because who doesn't love a bit of that?
