വൈരണിക്കാടുകൾക്ക് നടുവിലുള്ള പൂഴിമണൽ വിരിച്ച പാതയിലൂടെ കിഴക്കേവശത്തുള്ള പുഴക്കരയിലേക്ക് വെള്ളം കുടിക്കാനായി പോകുകയായിരുന്നു തമ്പു ആന. കരിമ്പ് കാട്ടിലെ ഇളം കരിമ്പുകൾ തിന്നു വീർത്ത  കുംഭയും കുലുക്കിയുള്ള തമ്പുവിന്റെ ഓട്ടം ഒന്ന് കണേണ്ടത് തന്നെയാണ്. അങ്ങനെ തമ്പു ചെവികളും തലയും ആട്ടിയാട്ടി പുഴയോരം ലക്ഷ്യമാക്കി നടക്കുമ്പോൾ, അതാ... പുൽമേടുകൾ നിറഞ്ഞ പടിഞ്ഞാറ് ഭാഗത്ത് നിന്നും ഒരു കരച്ചിൽ. തമ്പു ചെവി വട്ടം പിടിച്ചു, കരച്ചിൽ കേൾക്കുന്ന ദിക്കിലേക്ക് ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചു  കഥ കേട്ടോളൂ...

Thampu the elephant was walking along a sandy path, amidst thorny bushes, heading towards the river on the eastern side to drink water. Thampu's lumbering run, his belly swaying, swollen from eating young sugarcane in the sugarcane field, was truly a sight to behold. As Thampu swayed his head and ears, walking towards the riverbank, suddenly... a cry echoed from the grassy meadows on the western side. Thampu cupped his ears, focusing on the direction from which the cry emanated. Let's listen to the story.
