പണ്ട് പണ്ട്, ഒരു വലിയ പുഴയുടെ തീരത്ത് നിൽക്കുന്ന മനോഹരമായ ഒരു അത്തിമരത്തിൽ ഒരു കുരങ്ങൻ താമസിച്ചിരുന്നു. ആ മരത്തിലെ തേൻ പോലെയുള്ള മധുരമുള്ള അത്തിപ്പഴങ്ങൾ കഴിച്ചാണ് അവൻ ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നത്. അതേ പുഴയിൽ തന്നെ ഒരു മുതലയും താമസിക്കുന്നുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. കുരങ്ങൻ ഇടയ്ക്കിടെ മധുരമുള്ള പഴങ്ങൾ പറിച്ചു പുഴയിലേക്ക് ഇട്ടു കൊടുക്കും. അങ്ങനെ അവർ നല്ല കൂട്ടുകാരായി മാറി.

Once upon a time, a monkey lived in a beautiful fig tree on the bank of a large river. He lived by eating the honey-sweet figs from that tree.In the same river, there also lived a crocodile. The monkey would occasionally pluck the sweet fruits and throw them into the river. In this way, they became good friends.
