Environmental activists in Durban believe plastic pollution is becoming more prevalent and continues to negatively impact various eco-systems. This comes as we mark Plastic Free July - an initiative that began as a challenge but quickly evolved into a movement across the globe. Plastics, through litter and pollution eventually make its way into water systems, polluting ecosystems, leaching toxic chemicals which break down into microplastics, infiltrate the food chain for animals and humans. Romy Wenzel from non-profit organisation, the Clean Surf Project says more awareness campaigns are needed to education citizens on the harmful impact of plastics on the environment...
