It could appear to come from your bank, SARS, a delivery company, your employer or even someone you know. At just 25, Alex “Lexxi” Pasqualli is a master’s student, motivational speaker, content creator, parasport advocate and athlete. Born with the rare genetic condition Diastrophic Dysplasia, Lexxi has navigated a world that hasn’t always been designed with disability in mind, while building an impressive list of achievements along the way.

From graduating Cum Laude and making the Dean’s List throughout her undergraduate studies, to serving as Chairperson of UCT Parasports and completing her first Two Oceans half marathon, Lexxi continues to challenge perceptions of what people with disabilities can achieve.

We spoke to Alex about her journey, resilience, education, sport, accessibility and the importance of not allowing other people’s expectations to define your potential.

Dr Lenise Swanson is a paediatric cardiologist based at N1 City Netcare Hospital in Cape Town, specialising in the care and treatment of children with congenital and acquired heart conditions.

Beyond her medical career, she is also a mother of four, balancing the demands of motherhood with a profession that requires immense dedication and responsibility.

Now, she is taking on a completely different challenge as she prepares to travel to Spain to represent South Africa at a bodybuilding championship. Her journey is a powerful example of pursuing personal goals while navigating a demanding career and family life.
