Blog-June 28, 2024-10-11—It’s YOUR Agri Business
Our last show for the first half of 2024—yes—the Ag Business Show-covered a lot of ground in show 45-18.
Darren Hefty—Ag Phd started it—sharing the mike on the flood talk---what it will do and why we now have disease and insects not into the picture.
There was good news with a second cutting on alfalfa coming soon. That is a good thing for those that use the hay for feeding animals and even taking surplus to the market-place.
Saturday—over 100 scholarships are part of the Scouting and Scholarships event that the Hefty’s help promote. That’s a big deal---keeps more involved in agriculture for tomorrow---
Those included are a ton of young folks coming from all over –colleges, tech schools, local FFA’s and those that are just paying attention.
There is so much to learn and we appreciate what they continue to do—not only here but with their Sirus Radio Show Friday afternoons.
Rich Larson---yes that LAW MOTORS guy—explained the Last Chance Auction and how Thomas Rhodes---with ties to Fort Dodge, Iowa---was able to help----it is the Northern Innocence Project---and we learned just how big a deal it was.
We talked with Ali Gabriel about the Sioux Falls Canaries---their kids day at the park that saw the Manager—Mike Meyer win his 300th game—and all the minor leagues were asking about a MONSTER 475 foot homer hit by a strong Canaries 1st Basemen. The Birds won the first half ---and tonight it Fireworks night.
Sarah Heinrich—had the Growing Harvest Network Report---Matt Swenson—the Swenson Commodities numbers----and we heard from Nate Vander-Plats---City MGR in Lennox on how the Metro Alliance has worked together during this floody season. Great story---we think there should be more working together---and we’ll help lead the band. The band probably is playing in the weekend celebration in Lennox this weekend.
Bryson Patterson brought along Roger Jacobs---State Director US Dept of Housing and Urban Development. It was all in recognition of Homeownership Month and how FDIC and HUD are collaborating to host a banker’s roundtables. We learned a lot----and appreciate the story line.
Joe Batchellor—Mr. Downtown Sioux Falls gave us the list of things to do this weekend in Sioux Falls. You’ll want to listen to the Podcast to see what all is included and where.
Alla---yes the Ukraine Voice we have every Friday talked about what they are seeing—and what they are doing---and why they want to earn their own keep here in Sioux Falls and South Dakota. I’m still impressed—you should be too.
Laura Edwards—SD State Climatologist –talked us thru the rain---the weekend and the 4th of July. She is the best—and we appreciate her.
Listen live to the show at 1320-105.1, 107.9—use the KELO App—Streaming on line or just ask Alexa.
Norm Anderson will post the audio from the show—and let this blog serve as your guide to what and where it is in the show.
