Blog—June 14, 2024—9-10---It’s YOUR Business
Our Friday ---It’s your Business show—included regular guests and those on locations.
Jodi Schwan---Sioux Falls Business---talked about the theme of the weekend---the National Soccer Tournament at Yankton Trail Park –bringing 170 or 180 teams to town for 4 days. Wow---most motel-hotel rooms taken----with 7000 or so in town-and some staying for instance from Brookings to Sioux City.
We were able to follow the lead from Teri Schmidt---during our two hours----talking with a Madison, Wisconsin Soccer Player---head of Soccer Play in South Dakota and a National Official who helped Sioux Falls get the bid—and now the players.
Jodi talked about the value---as well as the FTC Ban on “non-competes”---new location for Muth Electric, a Corn Dog Company and the latest Starbucks and food truck. Starbucks is at the Sanford Lobby----all good stories---and we know our audience appreciate the sharing.
Jessie Schmidt---BBB of South Dakota---she prompted “Getting Your MONEY BACK” and ways to do that  It is difficult to do---and one of the organizations Business Email Compromise BEC—caused an organization in Massachusetts to transfer $6.4 million in funds to a fraudulent account. It appears that they maybe able to get some of their money returned. The US Government has filed a civil forfeiture action to recover $5.3 million linked to a business email compromise scheme that defrauded a Mass. Workers union.
Now a news release indicates that a civil forfeiture action demonstrates that when victims report such misconduct to the authorities there may be steps that can be taken to recover stolen funds. If you want more information---listen to the blog-in the podcast with Jessie’s take on what happened and how Hong Kong, Singapore and Nigeria were involved.
The other “Schmidt”---Teri took us on location to Yankton Trail Park---she interviewed a former soccer player from Madison, Wisconsin—in town to cheer for one of the 170 or 80 teams. He talked about why the fans make such a difference in this kind of tournament. And he was happy that Sioux Falls for this 4 day event is turning out to make not only his State but others feel welcome. Play continues thru Tuesday.
Kip Rounds—SD Game Fish and Parks ---is sharing a GFP Hunt for Habitat Raffle—tickets are available now and all proceeds help support habitat throughout SD. He talked about the applications for hunting you need to check with Game Fish and Parks on---and just why there are so many in South Dakota and other states—that join what we do—and how we do it.
Ron Nelson—Nelson Commercial Real Estate—gave us a crash course on looking for 3 new sites for a new restaurant chain that has their eye on
Sioux Falls. He was sharing “the science” in picking the right locations—knowing the history---and making it work in South Dakota. Ron’s been doing this since he moved here from Omaha a number of years ago—and we enjoy having him on the air with us twice a month in this Friday slot.
Ryan Austad---made the trip to represent Austad Golf at the Master’s—today we brought him into play to talk about the 2nd day of the US Open at Pinehurst, North Carolina.  We discussed the layout of the greens---the challenges---and who might be in the running. One of those if Rory McIlroy—back with his wife after it was announcement they were going to get a divorce. We talked about Tiger----#1 Player Scottie Scheffler who may not make the cut---will LIV and the PGA be playing majors next year. Ryan has been around golf all his life—and his take on this MAJOR as well as what to get for Father’s Day giving was truly interesting.
Diana Patterson did a segment as we hear on Friday’s on positions available Sanford Sioux Falls and System Wide. Sanford and health care is a big deal and we are happy to have them in our shows.
Norm Anderson will have the podcast for this show available on our KELO-AM Website---go to the June 14, 2024-9-10 show—and seek this show.
