Blog-June 17, 2024-10-11—It’s YOUR Agri Business
We were able to start our show with Jerry Schmitz---SD Soybeans-and Danita Murray—SD Corn—talking about the conditions we are in for our crops.
To have the two leaders together---they did show some of the differences about the growing—the amount of rain—the trade-and how working together helps those farmers in South Dakota.
It was Father’s Day Weekend and there was some of the corn 10 days ago that was just peeking out of the soil—now for those came stalks are knee high (depending on how tall you are)
Soybeans---have been planted later ---and between Jerry and Danita they were able to explain where we are---and what is being seen around the state.
The moisture---the prices---the trade—and expectations----all can be similar but different---depending on where in South Dakota the corn or beans is----and what we have seen for not only the moisture---but the heat----and when the planting was done.
Just as important the help from DC (or sometimes the lack there-of) that we should talk about. And we do----putting these two together---is good for the audience and we will keep doing it as long as we can bring Jerry and Danita together. We thank them for that.
Tony Bachman---helps us with our Report Card and Remodelers Show---so does the Home Builders, The Realtors Association, the Bankers---and those that keep our home furnaces and other running. It’s a togetherness we enjoy bringing to the audience on a regular basis.
Today—we did hear about the pause in the economy---what it does the housing side of it---and what we should see this month and beyond.
Brent Baloun---Plains Commerce Bank was on the road in Nebraska today---we got a bit of a story---on what we are doing here and other neighboring states---and how we can expect to find ways to make the most sense of the money that we need to survive in business and as families.
Teri Schmidt---Experience Sioux Falls—and Soccer leader Frank Gurnick updated us on the 4th day of 80 plus soccer play competition. It’s a big deal in Sioux Falls---and we know that they are down to 56 teams in the semi finals and 28 or so (I believe head to the next event-as winners of this event).
We have been concerned about the turnout by the fans---who the home towners here are treating the visitors-and whether or not they will comeback for the 2026 event. Frank is from Sioux Falls—all areas will have to be measured—but we know we need to keep up our hospitality to help the teams and give us another excellent event in the future. Play was continuing and would be stopped for lightning that became an issue.
Sarah Heinrich—had the Growing Harvest Network---Matt Swenson –Swenson Commodities gave us the morning numbers around the half hour----
SBA’s Jamie Wood---gave us an outline of events coming up this week—including the Hyvee Opportunity Inclusive Summit for Tuesday---a chance to network with other small business owners and connect with federal, state, and local organizations and business professionals.
There are one-on-one mentoring sessions—Pitch Competition with chance to win up to $30,000 for your business.
8-3:30 on Tuesday—Business Builders Virtual Training and The Summit.

We want to keep you informed—because our audience needs this opportunity to learn about it---and we take that seriously.
The Rock Report included a session with Jim Masloski-President/Owner of customs Direct LLC---that provides US Customs Brokerage Clearance. Rock and Jim talked about how the company got started and all the good things they do.
Laura Edwards—SD State Climatologist---talked about the rain—the expectations this week---and the longest daylight day of the year. We could see as much as 4 inches of rain in some parts of South Dakota.
