Blog—June 12, 2024-10-11—It’s YOUR Agri Business
Our It’s YOUR Agri Business Show does include very important farm information and activities---and with the ag community being the number one industry in South Dakota—we include topics that fit them as well.
For instance---Sioux Falls getting the largest National Event here this weekend-a National Qualifying Soccer event that will get 170 or 180 teams---utilizing Yankton Park---hoping to move on to the next round—in Oklahoma City soon.
Teri Schmidt has been working with us at Experience Sioux Falls—we understand and the experience should make us ---rural or city feel like we know what we are doing.
The events start on Friday---Teri who helped land the event—first of is kind for Sioux Falls—she teased about the value---and shared she would be back with multiple reports in our 9-11 SHOWS on Friday as it opens. The hope is we will make them feel at home---and they’ll want to be back for the 2026 year. It makes us feel good—helps the merchants---those that like soccer--- should be learning more about it—and often it helps get people out recruiting people to be part of our area.
We’ve done that with pheasant hunters---and others in town for big events---and just make them know we do care—and they probably could make us even better.
Scott Wick---Sioux Empire Fair talked with us about a big event on August 2nd—the Fiesta Latine will be hosted on the Billion Automotive Main Stage-featuring performances from 5 different artists starting at 5PM. Scott was in Huron today working with the South Dakota State Fair—Candi Briley keeps us informed on their events—but to see other Fairs working with the State Fair—makes us feel like the working together will pay off.
From Plains Commerce Bank—Brent Baloun---was back---yes with his Beautiful Balloon theme—we talked about the planning they do---the events they attend from Hoven to Sioux Falls and many other stops. We enjoy pushing planning for our audience----and we know that there are opportunities and we’ll continue to work with Plains Commerce Partners that they are.
Sarah Heinrich—Growing Harvest Network is part of our team—she is out of Fargo but she speaks the Dakota Language—and we learn from her in every show.
Matt Swenson---Swenson Commodities—gives us the morning grain, meat, energy and the Big Board on Wall Street stuff.
Our good friend Jaime Wood—SBA of South Dakota—updated us on events they are working on statewide---like June 18th—at the Denny—the Hy-vee Opportunity Summit providing resources and connections—invaluable breakout sessions led by local business leaders and vendors with topics like Navigating Access to the Capital, Strategies to secure loans, grants, investment capital-building alliances and strong networks, overcoming regulatory hurdles and boosting your marketing.
The summit will feature a pitch competition for minority and women-owned small businesses with a total of $50,000 in cash to be given to access several businesses with the pitch competition winner receiving $30,000. Childcare shortages will be discussed looking for solutions. Get more by listening to the podcast for this show.
Travis Rhodes—with his wife Kristen own 10 SF area Scooters. There hope today is to collect donations from coffee shops-the goal being $30,000. He explained they have been foster parents themselves---and we want them to succeed. They’ll join us Monday to tell us how they did—
We talked to LEVO’s-The Credit Union –what they are doing----they are helping---making such a difference. They just named six scholarships winners---and they have shown the community service that is being done. Jen McKeown shared what they do—the difference with the scholarship winners and how they are growing the Credit Union side along I-29.
    Impressive.
