Blog-July 24, 2024—10-11—It’s YOUR Agri Business
We’ve had a chance to work with Jaime Wood when she headed up the SBA of South Dakota---now that she has become a mover-and shaker in DC—she knows South Dakota—the people—and ways that we can all make a difference. Today Jaime was met by one of those coming to Washington DC—Nikki Gronli---serving as State Director in Residence for the USDA Rural Development Under Secretary (Dr. Basil Gooden) in DC. This program allows the Under Secretary to bring on State Directors for a limited time to be an advisor.
So today the first of our conversations with Nikki and Jaime on what they are doings things that South Dakota and other states could be doing to make sure those in agriculture are being served.
We encourage you to listen to the interview with heads up the 10:00 show—and find out what they are doing—and how---and the fact that we will continue more talks to next week.
In the same show—Sara Milner---Colorectal Cancer Navigator for the Blue Move Event. The promotion is for the Blue MOVE—a 5K and mile run/walk is scheduled for August 10th at Fawick Park—with the proceeds from the run/walk funding colonoscopies for underserved patients of Falls Community. As the date approached will apply more information to make this successful.
Mary Michaels—AARP joined us to share a few more of the tips—Mary writes for publications all over South Dakota. It’s good stuff—good work—good communication---and we are happy to share what she knows and does.
Brent Baloun---Plains Commerce Bank is part of the planners—we know that he and others are out and about helping those in Ag, Business, those that are young—a little older—but needing help. We will wind up with him at the same venue in Mitchell----in Sioux Falls—and State Fair. We all need planning-and we work as partners with Plains to let people know.
Sarah Heinrich shared the Growing Harvest Network—yes those friends of our in Fargo—yes they are our sister station.
Matt Swenson had the Morning Farm Numbers—and the Big Board on Wall Street.
Bryson Patterson—SBA of South Dakota provided some strong information for us this morning. He too was intrigued the Jaime—and Nikki were working together in DC---not only working but learning—and sharing with our audience---the difference working together from DC to our states we serve. Good stuff and you’ll want to listen. They’ll be back next week—with another chapter.
Gail Gullickson---talked to us thru virtual event for the 25th for producers and stakeholders to learn about County Committees. Handle nominations and election process. We’ll follow that along next week and into August as well.
State Climatologist—Laura Edwards joined us this morning—we talked about where we are—what we are seeing---and can expect this week and beyond. Yes we have had the moisture---the spiders—the mosquitos—and much more—but as we approach August—it’s Fairs—Farm Shows—and kids getting ready for school.
