Blog-July 26, 2024-10-11-It’s YOUR Agri Business
Our It’s YOUR Agri Business Show—covered big events—big ideas—financial opportunities. But you might say—you do that for each of your Agri Business Shows.
We started with Darren Hefty—AG PHD. We were happy to follow up his big field day event at Baltic with a look at what was talked—who was there—and what was learned.
Heavy turnout from Brasill, South Africa, and 40 states. Canada was heavily in attendance—and the trading of ideas becomes a very big deal. Mr. Hefty talked about the mosquitos and spiders now reduced in numbers—but it allowed more students to attend with a special gathering of guests from everywhere.
If there is a family that can pull this off it’s The Hefty’s. They teach us every week about Agriculture-the changes that are being made-and how their team across the mid-west is rolling out information by the wagon load. Darren also does his Sirius 143 show at 2PM every Friday. Something people from every corner of this country and many others listen to and even get to ask questions. We are proud of them-and appreciate how he IS a big player for all of us in AGRICULTURE.
Right behind the Hefty helping –Mike Naig---Iowa Ag Secretary. The Secretary was talking about the rain they have had in the Hawkeye State-and it was even necessary to move the Lyon County Fair to Osceola County this year. The Secretary did attend the Sioux County Fair which was still played out in place.
We talked about that for the first time -Iowa has a totally clear drought map (drought or abnormal dryness since 2020—as well Iowa is anticipating a record year for water quality wetland progress.)
We talked Farm Bill—Century Farm Certificates that go out to those in the farming business in Iowa for more than 100 years.
Scott Wick---yes that Scott Wick—Sioux Empire Fair ---was helping us salute the National Trappers Association Convention that will continue in Sioux Falls at the WH Lyon Fairgrounds thru Saturday. Big turnout and there is so much to see. Starting Sunday—the Fairgrounds will be cleaned and readied for the Sioux Empire Fair that starts in early August. What a treat to have the Trappers in Place---camping, seeing Sioux Falls—and helping us spread the legend of what we do for agriculture. Scott and Julie Hammer will be back on the Fair doings in early August. We heard that there are 200 people camping out for the National Trappers.
Sarah Heinrich had the growing Harvest Network—from KFGO IN Fargo—Matt Swenson –the morning commodities---
Joe Batchellor—yes Downtown Joe—shared the excitement with the Trappers in town and the other events that are going on this weekend. You’ll want to listen to the blog---for all the details. It’s quite the list and something we promise to do whenever we can—to bring the events to the people who tell us they want to know more.
Ali Gabriel---Sioux Falls Canaries-talked about the Winnipeg Series for the weekend---the two teams are the best ---and the Birds can use fans to be place to cheer them home not only this weekend-but to a high-playoff position for the end of this fabulous campaign. Have you been to the Bird Cage?
We talked with Alla—from Ukraine—she has been here visiting with us since March of 2022. She came to this country—has risen thru the ranks to leading her company. Not only that her two sisters came from Ukraine to South Dakota—so did her mom and now her dad. They truly appreciate what South Dakota is doing—with them---but they have a close eye on the bombings---and lives lost in Ukraine—and recently Romania. They are hard working people-and don’t want the hand out—they want to be able to be good soldiers and citizens in this American country.
We closed the show with Justin Glisin-Iowa Climatologist –he and Laura Edwards-the South Dakota Climatologist talk us thru what we have witnessed and what we will see in weather. They know the history of what we are seeing and can predict the future.
