Different perspectives feel like a strength, until they quietly become the reason five people leave a meeting solving five different problems. A tapping exercise from Stanford reveals why: once you know something, you can't imagine not knowing it, and that gap is where teams get stuck.
The fix isn't choosing between alignment and diversity of thought. It's knowing which one the moment calls for. When defining the problem, everyone needs to see the same thing. When analysing why it's happening, difference becomes the asset, provided people feel safe enough to voice it. When solving it, keep exploring before settling. And when embedding the fix, converge again or risk consistent execution collapsing into six different versions of "done."
