The Gauteng Department of Transport says there is no fallout with the taxi industry and that steps are being taken to reduce the operating licence backlog. The Gauteng National Taxi Alliance and SANTACO disagree, saying consultation has broken down, administrative delays are costing operators money and the future of public transport is at risk. We speak to GNTA spokesperson Theo Malele about the industry's concerns, the possibility of a shutdown and what needs to happen to restore confidence.
