A new national sleep census has revealed a striking reality about rest in South Africa. While many adults report getting the recommended seven to nine hours of sleep each night, very few actually wake up feeling restored. In fact, the latest national sleep data shows that only 15.1 percent of South Africans say they feel truly rested, highlighting a growing gap between time spent in bed and genuine recovery.
