Imagine needing to tell an athlete, 'Hey, maybe show that medal a little respect!' Or having A-list movie stars plead, 'Leave my body weight alone, will it?' Welcome to India and our little pocket of Kerala in the year 2026, where we are still dragging ourselves through basic conversations about body shaming. The worst part? The people throwing stones are faceless cowards hiding behind the dark corners of social media, leaving their targets mentally drained and dragging them through courtrooms just to get some peace. When does this endless cycle finally snap? When are we going to stop judging powerhouses like Ancy sojan, Katrina Kaif, and Aishwarya Rai by the scale and start respecting them for the sheer talent they bring to the table? Arunima Jayan, Archana Anoop, and Naveen Mohan are diving headfirst into this mess on the 'Commentadi' podcast.

We all cheered for Justin and Ashley's romance in Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, and the movie became a massive hit. But why is Mollywood still hesitant today to release a film centering on love between an older woman and a younger man? Why does our society still hesitate to embrace such relationships and marriages? When two people fall in love or decide to get married, does age really still stand as a barrier in this day and age?

| Malayalam Podcast | Commentadi | Manorama Podcast

From the trending tables of Netflix's Musafir Cafe right down to the domestic politics of Kerala's kitchens, the defining debate of our times is heating up: Whose dreams take priority in a relationship? Based on Divya Prakash Dubey's romantic novel and adapted for screen by Sharanya Rajagopal, Musafir Cafe has sparked a massive online debate around its core characters:
1) Sudha: Sacrificed love halfway through to chase her personal ambitions.
2) Preeti: Put her own goals on the back burner to stand by the one she loves.
3) Chandar: Reached his destination riding on the support of both women.

While viewers take sides between Sudha's career drive and Preeti's devotion, real life echoed this dynamic when Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan's controversial remarks sparked outrage across Kerala—suggesting new daughters-in-law should inherit the kitchen and traditional recipes. Though later clarified, it raised the same vital question as the series: How far is the distance between a woman's dreams in Musafir Cafe and her traditional role in a Kerala kitchen?

In this episode, we unpack: Should love require you to abandon your life goals? Why are women still expected to sacrifice their ambitions for others?

Why 'Cockroaches' are Making Waves in Indian Politics

A newly formed political entity- just a few months old- is sending shockwaves through the national capital with its fierce agitation. Leading the frontlines is the new generation, including Gen Z youth and even students in school uniforms. The movement at Jantar Mantar has resonated so deeply that even retirees joining the protest ask, 'How can we leave these children to fight alone?'. Traditional political parties have now rallied behind this movement, offering their support to the CJP- the Cockroach Janata Party.

What began as an outcry against the NEET paper leaks and discrepancies in CBSE Class 12 exam evaluations has rapidly evolved into a broader political movement. Will this youth-led agitation succeed? Can it force the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan? Will the CJP transition into a mainstream political party akin to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) after achieving its goals? And ultimately, who is this youth movement delivering a warning to?

Arunima, Archana, and Naveen unpack these pressing questions in this episode of the Commentadi podcast.

But wait... let’s think about it. Is wearing lipstick really that big of a health hazard for kids? And is lipstick the only villain here? Plus, if adults use it, do they magically escape all these health issues?

Why is Kerala offering free bus travel for women on KSRTC?

The Kerala government is rolling out a new scheme that could add an estimated ₹800 crore burden to the loss-making KSRTC. From June 15, women will be able to travel free on all ordinary KSRTC buses.

Will this initiative turn women into KSRTC’s biggest supporters, or will it push the corporation deeper into financial trouble?

What real benefits will women gain from the scheme? Can KSRTC use this opportunity to unlock new revenue streams? Will the success of similar models in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka be replicated in Kerala? And if travel becomes free but the quality of service remains unchanged, could the scheme ultimately backfire?

What is the government's larger vision behind this move?

The Giant Killers & The Rise of a New Hero

The exit polls predicted a landslide- over a hundred seats for the DMK. But when the dust settled in Tamil Nadu, they were left with just 56. Even the party chief and Chief Minister, M.K. Stalin, couldn't hold his ground. In Bengal, Mamata Banerjee met a similar fate, facing a stunning defeat. And in Kerala? Pinarayi Vijayan may have clawed back a victory, but trailing in second place for six straight rounds sent a shockwave through the party that they won't soon forget.

While the public turned their backs on parties carried solely on the shoulders of a few veteran leaders, a new 'People's Hero' emerged: Actor Vijay. While pollsters laughed and said his party, TVK, wouldn't even touch double digits, Vijay is the one laughing now- inching toward a century of seats.

\Is this the moment India witnessed the voter truly becoming the 'Real Hero' of politics? Why did the people choose Vijay over the establishment? And are the defeats of Stalin and Mamata- along with Pinarayi's stumble- a final warning from the masses?
We're breaking it all down in the premiere episode of 'Commentadi' Podcast Season 2. Join Arunima, Archana, and Naveen as they dive deep into the seismic shifts of the 2026 elections.

Remember when a flutter of a white saree and the flash of a jagged fang were enough to keep us awake for weeks? Those days seem like a ghost of the past. Today, the same Malayali audience that once watched through covered eyes is now doubling over with laughter at the sight of a cinematic spirit!

The "Good Soul" Era

Is the "Delulu" trend to blame? We’ve traded soul-piercing screams for ghosts who politely introduce themselves: "I’m not a demon, I’m a good soul!" From blood-curdling legends to quirky roommates, the supernatural has gone from terrifying to... relatable?

Archana, Arunima, and Naveen dive into the grave of horror tropes to ask: "What on earth happened to our ghosts?"

The Vijay Phenomenon: From Silver Screen to Political Battlefield

One of India’s highest-paid actors and a powerhouse who delivers a staggering Rs. 1,000 crore business to the film industry annually- Vijay is at the absolute pinnacle of his career. Yet, in a move that has stunned the industry, he is walking away from the limelight to embrace full-time politics. With the launch of his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), Vijay is gearing up to be a decisive force in Tamil Nadu politics. As his upcoming film Jananayakan hits screens on January 9, fans and critics alike are asking the same burning questions:

Is Jananayakan truly the swan song of 'Thalapathy'?
Will Vijay ever return to the silver screen, or is this a permanent goodbye to cinema?
What does the future hold for Vijay in the complex landscape of Tamil Nadu politics?
Can he translate his unparalleled cinematic stardom into a successful political "mass" movement?

In this episode of the Commentadi Podcast, Arunima, Archana, and Naveen dive deep into the implications of Vijay's transition and what it means for both the film industry and the political future of South India.

Has there ever been a year when Malayalam cinema commanded such widespread attention across India? 2025 is drawing to a close, having made a massive impact, both in terms of controversy and sheer cinematic brilliance.

While blockbusters like Empuraan and The Kerala Story fueled intense national debates, the phenomenal Box Office jolt delivered by films such as Loka is still being felt. Adding to this mix were smaller productions that were celebrated for their exceptional quality.

What defined Malayalam cinema in 2025? How did it set a benchmark for excellence that could serve as a model for Indian cinema, and how did it navigate, or even generate, these major controversies?

Arunima, Archana, and Naveen dive into all these questions in the first installment of the '2025 Roundup' series on the 'Commentadi' podcast.
