Champion volleyball yesterday debuted their newly-installed court with the big Charger horseshoe logo smacked right at midcourt. And it was a program sweep versus Clark as freshman won 2-0, JV 2-1, and varsity 3-1. 

And it’s the most… wonderful time of the year! High school football season that is… the Chargers head south to face Laredo United South tomorrow, and Boerne High goes north to Round Rock to battle Westwood… and we will have coverage here on Boerne Radio! Tune in tomorrow at 6:30 for pregame live from Bill Johnson Stadium as we preview Champion vs United South, followed by kickoff at 7. 

Ladies and gentlemen, the country music world yesterday lost an icon and Hall of Famer in Dolly Parton. But, the sports world is also mourning her loss. Originally from Tennessee, Parton in 2023 performed ‘Rocky Top’ at a Tennessee Vols football game, and congratulated her high school alma mater after a basketball state title, being a sports fan herself. That same year, she would memorably perform at the Dallas Cowboys’ Thanksgiving game, wearing the iconic cheerleader outfit… performing hits like “Jolene” and “9 to 5”. Right before her performance, she donated $1 million dollars to the Salvation Army, which provided 2.5 million meals to families. Major League Baseball, the Dallas Cowboys, the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders, and the SEC Network, among others in the sports world, took to social media to remember her legacy. Parton was 80 years old.
