Dr. Seuss was quoted saying “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.” And I think that perfectly applies to Boerne Little League’s run to the World Series. The game against Hamilton, OH started off with Hamilton getting a run on the board. To sum it up, Boerne would lose 6-1, with Carson Patrick scoring an RBI double in the bottom of the 6th, but Hamilton was playing lights out. Ultimately, Boerne recorded 6 hits and a ton of walks but couldn’t get the runners across. Chris Carey, now former Boerne Little League President put it best in a Facebook post, saying, “Somebody’s going to ask these boys about this summer in fifteen years. They won’t lead with the losses. They’ll lead with the bus. The dorms. The pin trading. The players from Japan and other parts of the world. These kids just got a graduate-level lesson at age 12, on a field with a mountain behind it. Most of us pay for that education a lot later, with a lot more on the line.” I’ll leave the result with Chris’ words. From the picture with the Milwaukee Brewers players to Chapel with Alabama… the memories will define this season, not the outcome. Again, one of 6500 teams in the United States- and Boerne was one of them.
It’s time for some more volleyball- tonight Boerne High will host Providence Catholic and Champion will be at home vs Clark. Both varsity games begin at 6:30. As for Geneva, they have a 6:00 match hosting the FEAST Patriots.
The Rangers dominated the White Sox 11-2 last night. They are 66-66, one game over the Astros, who fired their General Manager Dana Brown yesterday. Well tonight, they play the Yankees in New York. First pitch is at 6:05. The Rangers continue in Chicago at 7.
And tomorrow at 6pm, tune in for a very special edition of the Boerne Coaches Show on Boerne Radio- we’ll have Greyhound Tennis Coach Tyson Stewart talking about what’s going on on the court, and then Bert Munoz, a coach on the 2024 Boerne Little League team, will retrospectively talk 2024 and this year- connecting the dots! Make sure to stop by 28 Songs and Brewhouse as well and get the $10.39 chili dog and fries! The Boerne Coaches Show, followed by ‘Retro Rewind with Chef Mark’ here on Boerne Radio.
