Boerne fell to Hamilton, Ohio, 6-to-1 yesterday in an elimination game in Williamsport. The boys actually outhit Ohio six-to-five, but stranded 11 runners and couldn’t come up with the timely hit they needed. Carson Patrick drove in Boerne’s only run in the sixth inning. Boerne finishes the World Series 0-and-2, but once again brought national attention — and plenty of pride — back home to Boerne. We’ll see you at the parade.
The Kendall County Commissioner’s Court is voting on a couple of important issues today in their regular meeting. A specific TxDOT design is on the table for the Highway 46 and Herff Road intersection, which includes dual left-turn lanes from 46 W to Herff, as well as a free-flow right turn. In addition, Alternative 1 will include a separate pedestrian bridge and work to preserve the mature cypress trees in the area.
Other important items on the agenda will include a vote on Outdoor Burning in the Unincorporated Areas of the County, a consideration and possible action in regards to the Flock Safety Group, and a closed session with the committee in regards to Proposition A. Even more important-Dennis Rust is celebrating 35 years working for the Road and Bridge Department in Kendall County.
Boerne City Council meets tonight, and you will get your first formal opportunity to speak on the city’s proposed budget and tax rate for the next fiscal year. The public hearing begins at 6 o’clock at City Hall. The proposed city budget is nearly 164 million dollars, and city officials have said the average homeowner’s city tax bill is expected to decline even with rising property values.
A second hearing is scheduled for September 8th, when Council is also expected to consider final adoption. Council is also scheduled to hold a public hearing tonight on the proposed annexation of approximately 13-point-4 acres along the 31300 block of I-10.
