We now know what games Boerne Radio will carry for Round 2 of the baseball playoffs in Boerne ISD.

Your Boerne Greyhounds will face Navasota in Del Valle outside of Austin which is where Telsa is setting up shop.  Game 1 is Thursday night at 7o’clock - a game we’ll carry right here on Boerne Radio.  Game 2 will be on Saturday at 1 and if they split game 3 will be right after.

Your Champion Chargers will play Game 1 against MacArthur at Champion on Thursday night and Game 2 on Friday night at the North East Sports Park - we will carry that game live here on Boerne Radio 103.9FM.  And if they split Game 3 will be on Saturday at 1pm…hopefully they sweep so we can carry the Greyhound game at 1…either way we’ll keep you posted.

Over at Geneva High School both the ladies and the boys are competing in the Regional Playoffs.  Girls play Holy Cross tonight at St. Mary’s University at 6, the guys play Cypress Christian at La Grange High School at the same time.

In a unanimous decision, San Antonio Spurs forward-center Victor Wembanyama is the recipient of the Wilt Chamberlain Trophy as the 2023-24 Kia NBA Rookie of the Year.  One of the best rookie seasons in NBA history.  Webmy popped on his X account with his react.

Alright here’s your headlines for Boerne ISD Baseball Playoffs

Yesterday Boerne Greyhound lose game 2 to El Campo and then win Game 3 to advance

The Champion Chargers lose game 2 to Kerrville Tivy - series tied at 1 a piece with Game 3 at 1:00 today at SW Legacy in Von Ormy.

So lets break it down…starting with the Chargers - yeah, they won game one against Tivy and had great momentum but Tivy’s fans showed up if you listened on Boerne Radio and Texas Sports Productions.com which may have given them the juice to win Game 2 3-0.  And you can hear Game 3 right here on Boerne Radio with the pregame show at 12:45 right after the Accent with Crestmont Private Wealth - streaming at boerneradio.com, texas sports productions.com, Alexa, Google, the Boerne Radio App, TuneIn App, and My Tuner Radio App just to name a few.

And the big news was the Boerne Greyhounds who won Game 1 against El Campo on Thursday Night - again…great momentum but came up short in Game 2 - they were down by 3 runs in the last inning and staged a huge come back scoring 2 runs in the final inning but ran out of gas - final score was 5-4 - so 30 minutes later they played game 3 and it was an instant classic.  

The Greyhounds were down early 2-0 after the first inning - but Dylan Perez stepped up in the 3rd with this…

And it stayed 2-1 the rest of the game - and it’s not looking good for the Greyhounds.

Bottom of the 7th - down 1 - 3 outs from elimination - and then 2 outs…and then 1 out…and Grant Tamplet gets a single…and up comes the Dylan Perez again who hit that homerun earlier so what does El Campo do?  Probably the right thing…they walk him - so Tamplet on 2nd, Perez on 1st…and Walker Hill up to bat - and how classic is this…2 outs - bottom of the 7th - the last inning…and we go to Esteban Serrano with the call as heard on Boerne Radio.

The El Campo fans were in shock - your heart broke for the poor kid who dropped the catch in center field but what you need to know and couldn’t see is that the Boerne Greyhound Team went out to that kid in centerfield in a huge display of great sportsmanship and consoled the El Campo player.

Well your Boerne Greyhounds and your Champion Chargers both deep in the playoffs - you heard the Champion Game here on Boerne Radio last night - the Chargers were down most of the game by a run as Kerrville Tivy struck first in getting on the board and then Gage Goldberg came to the plate in the bottom of the 6th…

Goldbergs double sets up another run so now they go into the 7th inning with a 2-1 lead…and lets hear it for pitcher Sawyer Smith who struck out a batter for the second out, and then for the 3rd Tivy Antler…

After the Charger game, we flipped over to the Greyhound Baseball Playoff Game 1 against El Campo - Boerne scored early - a 2 run home run by Hudson McNew plus another run making it 3-0 in the 2nd inning - El Campo came back score their own 2 runs -  Boerne scores 2 more in the 6th…which was your final score - Boerne wins 5-2 - and how about Pitcher Campbell Jackson - he played the whole game, only allowing 2 runs on 4 hits and striking out 7 El Campers…Game 2 is tonight right here on Boerne Radio - first pitch is at 5:30  - we go live at 5:15 with the pre-game show and interviews with both coaches.  Go Greyhounds!

Boerne Radio Sports - May 17, 2024

It’s Friday May 17th. 

And on this date in 1969 It was the dress rehearsal for the Apollo 11 landing on the moon with astronauts John Young, Thomas Stafford, and Gene Cernan.  The mission’s call signs were  the names of thePeanuts characters Charlie Brown and Snoopy, who became Apollo 10's semi-official mascots. Charles Schulz also drew mission-related artwork for NASA.

Tomorrow is Boerne Brew City Day, which is our local breweries efforts to participate in National Craft Brewer’s Week. Starting on May 10th, breweries like 28 songs and the Tusculum handed out Brew City Passport Cards, which can be used tomorrow to get a  free t shirt if you visit four of the six participating businesses. The holiday was declared at Tuesday’s city council, and will become a yearly tradition. 

The senior walks took place for the graduating BISD students yesterday allowing for leaving students to visit the place where it all started, their elementary schools. They were able to visit their former teachers, reminisce about their time as kids, and say goodbye to their lives in high school. The seniors also participated in Senior Service Day, completing over 800 service hours at various organizations. 

And looking ahead, next Saturday the Planning Department of the City of Boerne is holding a meeting for the public to learn about historic preservation. The meeting begins at 10 and goes till noon in the community room at the Patrick Heath Library. There will be numerous speakers to discuss research, best practices, and how you can help with the effort.
