It’s Friday May 17th. 

And on this date in 1969 It was the dress rehearsal for the Apollo 11 landing on the moon with astronauts John Young, Thomas Stafford, and Gene Cernan.  The mission’s call signs were  the names of the Peanuts characters Charlie Brown and Snoopy, who became Apollo 10's semi-official mascots. Charles Schulz also drew mission-related artwork for NASA.

Tomorrow is Boerne Brew City Day, which is our local breweries efforts to participate in National Craft Brewer’s Week. Starting on May 10th, breweries like 28 songs and the Tusculum handed out Brew City Passport Cards, which can be used tomorrow to get a  free t shirt if you visit four of the six participating businesses. The holiday was declared at Tuesday’s city council, and will become a yearly tradition. 

The senior walks took place for the graduating BISD students yesterday allowing for leaving students to visit the place where it all started, their elementary schools. They were able to visit their former teachers, reminisce about their time as kids, and say goodbye to their lives in high school. The seniors also participated in Senior Service Day, completing over 800 service hours at various organizations. 

And looking ahead, next Saturday the Planning Department of the City of Boerne is holding a meeting for the public to learn about historic preservation. The meeting begins at 10 and goes till noon in the community room at the Patrick Heath Library. There will be numerous speakers to discuss research, best practices, and how you can help with the effort.
