The names have been announced! Boerne ISD released their annual Athletic Hall of Honor Class yesterday, and it consists of 4 different individuals or groups. Erik Halgunseth, Boerne High School class of 1995, was the first individual listed. A Greyhound basketball player, he earned several awards from the local to national level. He set a few school records, including most points in a season, with 1,046, most free throws in a season with 241, and an 82% free throw percentage. In college, he was a two-time All-Conference athlete at Concordia, and Texas Lutheran University. He also had a professional career down in Mexico as a player in the LNBP league. He is a two-time champion and was also named an All-Star.

In the next few days, we will highlight another individual on the list. On October 18, the Boerne ISD Athletic Hall of Honor Class of 2024 will be inducted and honored with a luncheon at The Clubs of Cordillera Ranch.

In the race for the UIL Lone Star Cup, the Boerne Greyhounds finished in 3rd place, and finished once again in the top 3 for another year. Along with academic competitions, baseball and softball were just added to the accumulated point total- Boerne finished with 93 total. They were a point behind Canyon who was in 2nd place with 94, and Canyon Randall ran away with the gold… finishing with 117 points. Hey, I’ll take a bronze medal any day! Well earned.

People on X were raving yesterday over a viral photo of Victor Wembanyama shopping at a local San Antonio HEB! I mean, even tall aliens have to get their groceries too, right? (I wonder if he got there in a UFO.) Well, he’s going to have to start his offseason diet for the Olympics in a month when he plays for Team France. As for the Spurs, they’re waiting for Boston to sweep Dallas in the Finals so all eyes will be on the Draft coming up on June 26. San Antonio will pick 4th and 8th on the board and a few things still remain a mystery- whether or not they will trade those picks, or more importantly, who they will draft.
