It’s Friday June 14th. 

And its Flag Day - as the Stars and Stripes were adopted by the Continental Congress as the official American Flag on this date in 1777 which was right in the middle of a Revolution.  It was Woodrow Wilson in 1916 that declared the day.   With the final additions of Hawaii and Alaska, the 50 Star American Flag has been flying since July 4th, 1960.  And for the record, every day is Flag Day on Boerne Radio.

And here we go…there will be closures this weekend once again for the I-10 and 1604 interchange - that shutdown starts tonight at 9 until 5 on Monday morning. Both the east and westbound lanes of I-10 will be closed, as well as 1604 East and Westbound frontage roads. You know the drill…stay in Boerne, go to the parade and Das Festival - no reason to leave.  Or if you leave for Costco now, you’ll still make it.

And with that I Baron Wiley will be co-announcing the Das Festival parade from our booth in front of the Salty and Sweet Store on Main Street - so don’t be shy and say hi - and if you are I have a nice prize to give you.  The parade starts at 10 - and then it moves over to Random on Upper Cibolo Road.

Boerne ISD Trustee Rich Sena presented to a packed audience at the 2024 Texas Association of School Boards Summer Leadership Institute in San Antonio. Sena spoke on how Boerne ISD has encouraged community voices to advocate for change, as well as discussed how districts should have a vision for how the Texas legislature can better serve students across the state.  Thanks for your leadership coming out of Boerne Texas.
