📜 Heroic Hale Hanged: Patriot’s Parting Proclamation Persists

It’s Monday September 22nd.

It was on this date in 1776 that Nathan Hale was hanged by the British during the American Revolution for spying. As he was being hanged, he made his famous proclamation, "I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country."

The City of Fair Oaks Ranch has finished their Gateway feature after a couple months of construction. To mark the completion of the monument, they will be hosting a ceremony on Friday morning at 10 at the Police Department training room at City Hall. This ceremony is open to the public and will include remarks, displays, and light refreshments.

The Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce has another busy week celebrating new businesses…tomorrow at 11:30 be at Velocity Country Store and Meat Market just south of the Fair Oak Ranch Parkway…the official grand opening is tomorrow where they will have an exotic car show, free appetizers, and a chance to win $1000 in fuel. Then at 1:30, the Chamber will help celebrate the First United Methodist Church’s 150th anniversary. On Wednesday, The Dermatology Center at Spring Branch will host a ribbon cutting at 11:30, and on Thursday Mainz Meat Mark will be celebrating their Grand Opening at 1:30.

Our neighbors up in Comfort are asking its residents to request a public hearing with the TCEQ which stands for the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.  Lennar Homes wants a permit to build 1100 homes on 590 acres.  Right now the population of Comfort is less than 3000.  If that goes through the concern is that 600,000 gallons of wastewater will daily flow into North Creek, Cypress Creek and the Guadalupe River. To voice your concerns, it’s encouraged to post your comments at the TCEQ website and we have a direct link in the news blog at boerneradio.com

And on Saturday Bookfest is taking place at the Patrick Heath Public Library. Enjoy a book-filled day with bestselling authors, thought-provoking panel discussions, author signings, and more. You can see the full schedule at boernebookfest.com

Boerne Radio News is delivered to you by The Boerne Star.

And by Boerne Radio’s special Power Luncheon on Thursday October 2nd at the Kendall Inn.

Pastor Robert Emmitt will be our special speaker - he’s the founder of Community Bible Church as Robert grew his humble church from 100 to over 15,000 making it the largest church in San Antonio…and in the top 40 in the country.  We’ll share in a great lunch, network, and give away some great door prizes.  Register now at boerneradio.com.   Sponsorships also available just like our friends at Texas Heritage Bank and Sendero.
