It’s Tuesday, May 7th. 

It was on this day in 1945 that Germany signed an unconditional surrender at Allied headquarters in France, ending its role in World War II.  It was also on this day in 1975 when President Gerald Ford formally declared an end to the “Vietnam era.”  And if you don’t want to start a new war...don’t forget this Sunday is Mother’s day.

And again as mother’s Day is the 12th, Memorial Day is Monday the 27th. 

If you’ve been walking around the Boerne City Parks, you may have noticed a few signs along the path. The signs culminate into a traveling memorial, which will be moving around the City Park system honoring those from Kendall Country who died while serving our country.  The signs started in our historic Veterans Plaza, now at the Boerne City Park, and soon along the Cibolo Creek trail.  If you spot these signs, please take a second to read about those who have protected our freedoms that we enjoy so much in our great country.

The Flippen Group has announced that Currington, Herff and Fair Oaks Ranch Elementary Schools have been selected as Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase Schools for the 2023-24 school year.  To be chosen, the school must meet essential performance indicators and pass the test with administrators and staff. Fair Oaks Ranch has made the list for the last 6 years in a row, Currington has won the last four years in a row, and Herff is going strong in their second year selected.

The Boerne Chamber is making their rounds this week with ribbon cuttings across Boerne, starting with the Vista Swim Academy today at 11:30, followed by Brave Investigations at 1:30 in the Chamber Conference Room. Then on Thursday is the ribbon cutting for River’s Edge Counseling and Wellness at 11:30, followed by Napa Oaks Dental at 1:30.  And then the Chamber mixer at 4:00 at Joshua Creek Ranch.
