It’s Tuesday March 21st
And it’s the first full day of Spring…where on the vernal equinox many in the world experience 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness.
Today is also World Downs Syndrome Day - a date created to raise awareness and support for the 6000 babies born every year with a duplicate 21st chromosome…which is why it falls on this 21st day of this third month.

Heads up - today and tomorrow Law Enforcement Agencies in Kendall County will be conducting training at the Old City Hall building on East Blanco Road between 8 and 5pm. The training may consist of flashbangs and building assaults as well many Law Enforcement Vehicles. You may even spot a circling helicopter. Again, this is a training exercise, so no need to panic or call the police…it’s strictly for training.
And speaking of the serious work and training of Boerne’s finest…have you ever read the police blotter in the Boerne Star as reported by The Boerne Police Department and the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office. It’s not only a record of calls that come in, they can also be quite entertaining. In the weekend edition of the Star, one story mentions that in the 100 block of Lake Front, two dogs were reported to be walking around the lake, barking, probably planning out some Spring Break swimming. And in another listing, on Old #9 and Yellowjacket Lane 10 cows were found going for morning stroll down the road. Another more serious report includes an account of stolen lawn equipment from the caller's vehicle while he was parked on the 600 block of West Bandera. He estimated the value of everything to be $2000.
The Boerne Independent School District continues its excellent Parent Education Speaker Series. The next event and topic is called Helping Kids Cope, taking place on Monday, April 17th from 6-7pm at Boerne High School. It will focus on mental health challenges that students face today. . All Boerne ISD parents, students, and community members are invited to attend.
