It’s Friday October 2nd.

Kendall County remains under a Flood Watch through 7 o’clock tonight.  Most of Boerne had received 2 to 2 and a half inches of rain,  leading to the temporary closures of several low water crossings.  Another inch or 2 are possible today.  The biggest concern remains flash flooding along creeks, low-water crossings and poor-drainage areas.

The Boerne Parks and Recreation Department moved the Boerne Family Campout to next Saturday, October 10.

The Boerne Life reported that Toudanines Cleaners took over the spot Carl’s Cleaners cleaned in in Fair Oaks Ranch right behind the CVS, and also the new Panda Express is open today at Boerne Town Center on I-10.  After The Chamber cuts the ribbon, you can cut into your beef and broccoli, and break into that fortune cookie that predicts more choices are coming like KFC, Freddy’s Frozen Custard, and Sprouts Farmers Market.

The 10th annual Boerne Book Festival takes place tomorrow from 10 until 4 at the Patrick Heath Public Library.  The event celebrates Texas and regional authors, publishers and readers, with appearances from Texas Tech University Press, Texas A&M University Press and children’s author Mari Mancusi.

Hill Country Family Services has a new wish list for the month of October,  highlighting the current greatest needs for the corner cupboard. This month they are asking for donations of healthy soups, peanut butter, raisin bran, strawberry jelly, canned peaches and shampoo. But cash is where your dollar goes the furthest thanks to the food bank - $25 feeds a family of 4 for a week!  See what I mean at hcfstx.org.

The new Boerne Star is out today and the headlines include the full story on the verdict handed by Judge Kirsten Cohoon to 77 year old Warren Jones. St Peter The Apostle Catholic School hosted their first athletic competition in history plus started new Latin and Chess Clubs.
