It’s Friday April 19th. 

And it was on this date 29 years ago the Oklahoma City bombing happened at 9:02am and killed at least 168 people. Until 9/11 it was the deadliest terrorist attack on US soil.  It was timed to occur two years to the hour as the siege of the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas.

If you were planning on heading to San Antonio this weekend, you might want to take another route other than I-10. TxDot will be closing the main lanes of 1604 and the cloverleaf ramps starting tonight at 9 until early Monday morning. Although the main lanes of I-10 will not be closed, traffic is expected to be heavy, and TxDot is encouraging drivers to avoid the area if possible. And expect more closures each weekend for the remainder of the month.

The 5th Annual German Spelling Bee took place recently for Boerne ISD, and let’s be Frankfurt, the kids nailed it. Cole Grotjohn, a student at Boerne High School, clutched the gold, while Ethan Lane and Ximena Diaz Lopez took 2nd and 3rd for Champion. The students were awarded with $200 in food and drinks from our friends over at the Bubble Tea Factory, as well as other local businesses. - Das Good!

In light of National Volunteer Recognition Week, the Boerne Middle School South National Junior Honor Society collected and donated stuffed animals. The toys will be going towards the Bears for Cops and Kids initiative, which is run by the Boerne Police Department. More than 50 animals will be going to the cause, and hopefully will be loved by a child soon.
