The Wellington Blaze begin their new season in the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield against Northern Districts in Whangarei.

Head coach Jonny Bassett-Graham coached the Blaze on an interim basis to their Super Smash T20 title last season, and is now the team's fulltime head coach.

He joined Adam Cooper to preview the season.

With a 13th championship and record crowds, the Wellington Saints celebrated an extremely successful 2025 NBL campaign on and off the court. 

The team's title defence begins with a home game at TSB Arena on Sunday April 12th, hosting Manawatu. 

To preview the season, Adam was joined by head coach Aaron Young and CEO Jordan Mills.

The Wellington Phoenix women have qualified for the A-League playoffs for the first time and will host a home playoff in May as part of a two-leg semifinal. 

Their top two placing was confirmed after a 2-nil win against Adelaide United in their final regular season game.
