The annual Capital Classic Athletics meet takes place at Newtown Park on Sunday as part of the summer athletics calendar.

Before the competition, decorated athletes Hamish Kerr and Tom Walsh will be in town running a coaching clinic as part of their Aotearoa Athletics Trust initiative.

Adam Cooper spoke to Kerr about coaching the next generation of athletes, and on his plans for 2026.

With a 13th championship and record crowds, the Wellington Saints celebrated an extremely successful 2025 NBL campaign on and off the court. 

The team's title defence begins with a home game at TSB Arena on Sunday April 12th, hosting Manawatu. 

To preview the season, Adam was joined by head coach Aaron Young and CEO Jordan Mills.

The Wellington Phoenix women have qualified for the A-League playoffs for the first time and will host a home playoff in May as part of a two-leg semifinal. 

Their top two placing was confirmed after a 2-nil win against Adelaide United in their final regular season game. 

Adam Cooper spoke to Phoenix coach Bev Priestman.
