A Tunisian court has sentenced prominent government critic and former judge Ahmed Souab to five years in prison, after convicting him on charges linked to comments seen as threatening the judiciary.
His lawyers say the verdict reflects mounting political pressure on the courts under President Kais Saied, whose critics accuse him of tightening his grip on power since 2021.
