Rising burden of preventable diseases risks been overlooked

A fire swept through the Al-Omda displacement camp in North Darfur, in Sudan, leaving at least 60 families without shelter.

The cause of the fire remains unknown. Earlier reports from the International Organization for Migration (IOM),  indicated that at least 237 families were affected and over 150 shelters destroyed.

Amid growing anti-government protests, Gabon's government has suspended social media platforms, including Facebook and TikTok.

The country's media regulator, the High Authority for Communication, announced the immediate suspension, citing concerns over national security and accusing online content of spreading hate speech, defamation, false information, cyberbullying, and material that could destabilise state institutions.

The country has been experiencing political instability, humanitarian crises, and violence, with multiple factions vying for control of the country since 2011's civil war.
