Chinese Ambassador to South Africa, Wu Peng, has emphasized the importance of stronger media cooperation between China and South Africa, saying it is key to improving mutual understanding and people-to-people relations. He was speaking to Channel Africa in Pretoria at the launch of the Sino-South Africa Media Club, aimed at boosting collaboration between the two countries' media sectors. Peng says the initiative will help promote accurate storytelling and support cooperation in trade, education, and investment, noting that direct exchanges between citizens remain limited despite strong diplomatic ties. On global affairs, Peng addressed the war in Iran, warning of its global impact, including rising energy prices affecting countries like South Africa, and reiterated China's call for respect for international law and the United Nations Charter.
