South Africa (SA) reportedly has one of the highest femicide rates in the world, with an estimated 11 women murdered every day. In response, Minister in the Presidency for Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Maropene Ramokgopa is set to introduce the Femicide Review Methodology Pilot as part of the government's efforts to strengthen evidence-based responses to Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF).

The pilot will draw on international best practices, adapted to the South African context, to promote learning, strengthen prevention efforts and improve coordination among stakeholders.
