Ghana's government has declined a $1.8 million donation from MTN Ghana intended to support Ghanaians affected by recent xenophobic attacks in South Africa. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says the government has already made sufficient financial provisions to cover the evacuation and reintegration of affected Ghanaian citizens.

The Ministry clarified that the decision does not amount to a rejection of MTN's support for Ghanaians. Instead, it reflects the government's existing arrangements to finance the ongoing humanitarian response.

Lulu Gaboo spoke to Wilberforce Asare, Head of Legal and Political Desk, Asaase Radio.
